Here we discuss HMB, Buhurt, Harnisfechten, SCA Heavy, Armored MMA, and other categories of historically inspired armored sport fighting. We are a very welcoming community and there’s never enough of us, newcomers need not be shy.Share your experiences, discuss arms and armor, appreciate the athletes and smiths, and most of all HAVE FUN!
One of the best places to start watching armored fights is through Armored MMA’s YouTube channel. I like to show people the Shanna Knight v Amanda Hadt fight, I admit it’s partly because Shanna has one of the best looking armor/tabbard combos in the game but she also kicks serious ass.
>>253449>Armored MMA>BuhurtPretty cool anon, thanks for showing me something new. Unfortunately I don't think this really exists in Aus.
How much of an overlap is there between Buhurt and Harnisfechten? I'd really love to get into Harnisfechten because I'm super interested in historical longsword combat, but there's no groups in my area that do it at all (Maine). There's a team that does Buhurt which also looks really fun, but its not quite what I'm after. I'd still be interested in doing Buhurt, but I'm just curious if I get into buhurt, get a kit for it, would the kit I use still be able to work for Harnisfechten and am I likely to find people there interested in it as well? There is a HEMA group but as far as I can tell they are just the normal softkit version, they also meet on days I am wholly unable to meet in.I've watched some Buhurt sword duels and it just mostly seems to be who can swing the fastest and land the most hits, there's no form or blocking or style there. Looks kinda lame
