Sounds like you just aren't ready. How comfortable are you on your board otherwise? Can you push around and ride like it's second nature? Can you pump back and fore in a mini comfortably for as long as your legs will let you? If no, then do those things first and do them a lot, then go back and try again and it will be trivial. If you're slipping out on a bank when coming back down fakie, you just aren't ready. If you do luck out and make a drop in, you'll just get to the other side, panic and fall off or bail anyway (or slam before you evben get to the other side), it's just pointless. I can't seem to transform my stationary ollies into rolling ollies guys, when I'm in motion I always seem to have too much weight forward or back and I can't find the sweet spot like I can when I'm stood still.
Is this just a case of I need to feel it out again from scratch while rolling? I keep hearing people say that a rolling ollie is like a stationary one but the world is moving around you but it certainly doesn't feel that way

Start off as slow as you possibly can. You need to readjust and compensate your body jump to follow with the board as its going forward. Thats how i did it. I cant ollie going really fast, but i can on a decent push.

My issue is that when I roll slowly I either end up coming to a complete stop before I csn get comforrable enough for my attempt or I end up rushing it and the board flies out in front or behind me because my centre of mass is off the back trucks

I know I just need to practice more and stop expecting miracles, I just get a bit frustrated when my progress seems to stagnate

Hi gang
I'm still pretty new to skating, and the most advanced trick I can do is rolling down fakie and doing a full 180 so I'm back in my proper stance while going down a slope.
I'm bad with some terminology though. I can do that both backside and frontside, whatever it's called. And I'm really great with tic tacs and I get more confident on my attempts to do manuals everytime. Yesterday I held a manual for .5 seconds it was pretty cool.
Anyways what should I be practicing as I start to transition from just basic tic tacs and lifting the nose and going forward on the board. I'm very comfortable now skating with even just one foot on the board, so I think I've advanced enough after the past few months to start trying stuff. I can do that thing where you put both feet under the upside down board and you hop up flipping the board and landing on it, and i can do it without feeling like the board is going to zoom out from under me or that I'll break my spine or something.
What I'm trying to ask, is other than the inherent constant practice you get just from casually skating, where should i start looking to get practice? Likenisnit too early to start practicing Ollie's? I'm almost certain there are fundamentals I'm missing before I do that. Like I have trouble jumping straight up while on the board. Every time i try to jump up, my feet are like kicking the board forward or backwards. Are you guys staring straight at your feet or just hoping you land right? Thanks for listening to my blog.

Not at all, do them at home on the carpet.
You can watch a tutorial where someone explains it, but in the end you'll only get it after many repetitions, and not a sequence you try to follow.

It's not too early to learn ollies, but learning hippie jumps (just jumping off the board while rolling and landing back on it) is super useful and will help you with ollies later on.

Shove its are pretty easy for beginners, especially fakie. You can practice them on a carpet, or landing in a patch of grass at first if you just want to focus on landing on the board after it rotates.

Have you tried doing kickturns on banks/ramps? It's honestly one of the most useful things you can learn how to do on a skateboard if you have a skatepark you can go to. Actually, have you skated transitions at all? Going down slopes, pumping back and forth in a half pipe, etc.

Other shit that comes to mind:

Honestly try and spend some time on your board and "come up" with tricks, too. Obviously you'll find tricks that already exist, but part of the fun of skateboarding is learning to do something and thinking "oh wait, what if I do that the other way?" and that turning into something else.

Mitchie Brusco and Skate IQ as a whole is the coolest shit man. I've never seen someone so seemingly genuinely interested in helping people.
