I just realized that the old cliche that people repeat when you break boards i.e. "just land bolts" is even dumber than I thought. Landing with your feet directly over the wheels actually puts you slightly off balance compared to being more "in the pocket." If you watch pros land stuff, their feet aren't generally directly over the bolts. The back foot at least is generally a little bit further back because this actually makes for more solid balance when landing compared to having your feet closer together.
>>264158Nah bro landing bolts is the best

>>264159>>264166Your retorts are not substantive enough to dissuade my opinion in the slightest.
>>264158wrong + fat + land bolts
>>264168Believe it or not, despite that eloquently constructed reply, you've not convinced me that I'm incorrect
Guys, think about it for two seconds rather than just repeating what you've heard someone else say.Stand up where you are with your feet about 14 inches apart. Do some squats, as low as you can. Now, shift your feet closer together, say 9 inches apart and try again. Ok, next, shift your feet further apart, say 16-18 inches, slightly wider than shoulder width. How steady do you feel? Try some squats again. Are they harder or easier than they were with your feet at at the less wide positions? How does your balance feel? The average shoulder width for men is 16 to 18 inches. The average wheelbase for a skateboard is 14.25 inches. The nose and tail are slanted, which makes standing on them less steady, but the area just before the kicks is flat, lacking even the concave introduced at the bolt area. This makes it the most ideal spot for stability. For most people, this will also roughly coincide with shoulder-width stance, which is also ideal for stability. This is why, particularly on high-impact tricks, you will see pros landing with their feet more towards the outside of the bolts rather than toward the inside. To have the feet directly over the bolts would decrease stability. Now, who wants to predict how well-thought-out and convincing the dissenting replies to this post will be? I predict they'll be so erudite that they'll make me rethink my whole theory and probably my whole life, but who really knows?
>>264170>2 sentences instead of a simple 'inb4'Yes, who could predict that no one will want to seriously engage with an autistic underageb&? Here, this guide is the perfect start for you. With that kind of spacing, I also recommend you go to r/newskaters (and stay there). Inb4 verbose reply.

Just randomly surfing youtube and clicked on this week's quartersnacks top ten. Take a look.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRL5xFvW8M8Where is Bannerot's foot on the landing? Where's Munro's feet on landing? Where are Miles Silvas' feet on his landing? Particularly on a trick where he's landing backside, fast and with impact so he needs extra stability? It looks a little to me like he has his foot on the tail? But that couldn't be. I must be seeing things. Maybe Miles Silvas didn't read your beautiful info-graphic for some reason and has just been doing it wrong this whole time?

>>264348Are you posting it again with an image to drum up more discussion? I thought it was a great episode. I'm not a huge Foy fan, but he seems like a genuinely good dude. He is also one of the best skaters alive currently. Its funny seeing them talk about how he only eats fast food garbage and then goes and does the most insane shit. He has a crazy body type. Short but really husky. I wonder if that diet will come up to bite him when he hits 30.

Kind of weird Foy is regarded so highly when he doesn't really flip his board. Part of me thinks that disqualifies him from being great but he also is pretty good so idk..
>>264359He's no slouch at flips. He has really good heelflips. Rail skills overshadow the rest of his kit though

>>264348This was great. Super interesting to see him skating as a little kid and then flow and then compare to now. It's a trip to see this kid in diapers pushing around, and then this little Chunk from goonies doing flip tricks into rails, and then seeing how he took it even that much further once he grew up. Like Beagle said, you can really see that he applied himself. I don't think it's "natural," I think you can see in his progression that he really worked for it hard as fuck. The part about just eating chick-fil-a all the time and no vegetables, ribbing Reynolds, was hilarious too. I'm in my 30s now and have learned I can't get away with eating bullshit anymore. I'll be interested to see how it goes with him, lol

I remember when the most you knew about a skater was...??? Total industry death btw.

Yeah I realized about halfway through that "epically later'd" that Jamie has nothing to share, no experience or thoughts on anything because he's never done anything else. Guy has just skated for his entire life. The second most interesting thing about him is something you could tell just by looking at him, "oh, hes fat." Not the kind of guy I want to watch a documentary about.

>>264406Most people watch Epicly Later'd videos to see how someone got to where they are and all the hiccups they faced along the way. Reynolds and Ellington, for example, were human disasters for the longest time before getting their shit together and the twists and turns of that is more interesting than "he never did anything other than skate and he was always good at it and also he's not secretly a dickhead."The guy's great at what he does and it is nice to see someone who didn't end up lost in party mode along the way, but it doesn't make for captivating storytelling. Give me an episode about Gator or something.
