I surf at the same beach as Medina. I’ve been surfing here since I was a child, and I’ve been coming to this place since I was two months old (not joking, btw). I know this board is slow asf, but I’ve noticed from surfing generals that there are a lot of people interested in surfing here. So if you have any questions about the sport or this magical place called Maresias, feel free to ask me anything.I’ll leave this thread open on my PC tab.
Are Brazilian surfers as annoying in Brazil as they are in other countries?
>>264753Not really. It depends a lot on the beach. In Arpoador, Rio de Janeiro, you have a lot of toxic mfs who will snake and get snaked all the time. There’s no order at all; it’s like four guys going for the same wave. The same applies to Guarujá, in São Paulo. In Maresias, though, you have crowded spots with around 40 people, and you rarely see any snaking or fighting. I’ve been surfing in Maresias for more than 10 years, and I’ve never seen a fight. I have been called out during my teenage years for taking too many waves at least 5 or 6 times (I’m a bigger-wave longboarder, so I tend to catch far more waves than shortboarders), but I’ve never been kicked out of the water or threatened with violence. Never been called out again, let shortboarder get their waves and always get good ones to
>>264753I would say that at least in Maresias, its pretty disciplined and you will most likely not meet many assholes
