Railgun is a spin off that focuses on only one part of the over the top chuuni battles with some CGDCT. The index anime starts all right but cuts some important info and degrades as the seasons progress. The railgun anime is generally better but there's filler that was so boring I wanted to shoot myself but does get better. If you like to read then I'd recommend the Index LN first. Otherwise you could watch the first season index then railgun and see how you feel about it.
