The internet lied to me. I thought this movie would be about guys in Nazi power armor gunning down terrorists but it’s actually about being guilt and ptsd! It was still really good though
>>
What's funny about this movie is that westerners associate the wolf brigade with nazis because of the suits, when they're actually supposed to represent post-WW2 japanese communists.

It's more about duty, brotherhood and personal happiness, they don't come together

>What big arms you have...What big ears you have...What big eyes you have...What big teeth you have!

Such kino anime.

ots not like nazi actually has a strict definition, it's just slang for a supportor of an authoritarian dictatorship derived from a stereotypical "inbred hick" german name ala Cletus, that happened to sound kinda like "NatSoc"

pretty much mogged by patlabor

I watched (2) of these movies I think and they just couldn't hold my attention. Everything felt so uninteresting. I don't even remember the plot at this point.

Are the live action movies and manga worth watching? I only really see people talking about Jin Roh and never hear anyone talk about anything else in the franchise. I think that the main manga hasn’t had an English release since the 2000s. I know that there’s some radio dramas too but I doubt those will ever get translated. I seems like a hard franchise to get into.

They had a strange amalgama of sovies style uniform, nazi style combat armor

Do I have to watch the Patlabor show and first movie to watch Patlabor 2? They don’t look that interesting.

Does anyone know from where it is? IIRC I saved it from some korean post

The two earlier Oshii ones are a lot of fun, very different vibe though.

Watching anime like Jin-Roh just makes me depressed because I know that nothing on that level will ever be created again.
>>
>>288261417
Isn't Jin Roh an alternate history in which Japan joined the Allies instead of the Axis but still lost the war and ended up under German occupation?
>>
>>288262172
Yes and no. Patlabor 1 and 2 are actually fairly self contained plots. You get an idea of what’s going on without any deep knowledge. I originally watched the movies as a kid, renting them from Hollywood Video. Some of the minor details, and character backgrounds I would want to know.

Yes. Then Germany redemocratized.

What are you talking about? Japan was occupied by Germany, look at all the German writing, theres a police helicopter model called Heuschrecke and the little red riding hood book is also in German.
The sect commies call themselves "Anti-Lebensraum".
Did you even watch the movie? Did you watch the gook remake instead?
Yes, the capitol police is technically not Nazis, but they are much closer to them than to Commies.
Im sure the reason Oshii used commies is just because they actually faught on the streets, but they are interchangable.
The movie, just like The red spectacles deals with living after defeat in war, when life becomes nihilistic, buereaucratic and humiliating.
You've got commies, Nazis, whatever, who fought hard, living a dramatic and heroic life. And then suddenly, they are supposed to just stop and life during peace times when they don't know how to actually function. Thats why they cling to their identity of being some tough soldier, just like nerd who consider warhammer escapism because at least, there you dont have tinder, taxes and HR.
