Kapitel 51: Richard
Kapitel 52: Proof
thank you
>>288282828Brat!
to be continued...
>>288283743What a nice young manI can't see this going wrong at all
This seinfeld guys arc went on forever.
>>288283273No, don't do it!>>288283315I don't know why I'm so invested, but I'm really rooting for this guy.
>>288283258:(
>>288282828Paula from Earthbound>>288283743Thanks OP
I wasn't very impressed with the start but I'm pretty hooked now
>>288283041How do you get drunk and aim so well? Also it seems no detective in this manga has a stable home life.>>288283516>>288283743Uh oh
>>288284309Detectives aren't known in general for having stable home livesThey have to be married to the job as well, something has to give.
>>288283315I wish I could be half as disciplined as this guy really
>>288284309Good question
>>288284185Same, thought the whole manga was going to be only about surgeries and other medical stuff
>No Nina, Eva or Lotte in current chapters>No one is bumping the threadLike poetry
One more bump
>>288282828uoh?
>>288283258Damn...
>>288283315Dodged a bullet there.
>>288283743Thx buddy.
>>288283743Thank you for posting.
>>288283258Ouch
>>288283743Thanks OP
>>288283315I wish my dad had been like this too.
>>288283743I find it nice that apart from a couple of panels Johan is never actually portrayed as suspicious in this part of the story. You know he's bad because you've read so far but in isolation he really does just believably seem entirely good to the characters around him.
>>288287242Without Nina, how can anon post Nina SEXO? Without Nina SEXO, there is no soul to be found in the thread...
>>288283743thanks OP
>>288282948
>>288283026
>>288283743literally did nothing wrong
has anyone else here ever play the original Tactics Ogre? I can't get over how similar Denam and Catiua looks to a certain pair of siblings here, granted that game came out in 1995 and there's a different contextual twist there
>>288284309>How do you get drunk and aim so well?Being drunk calms your nerves and steadies your aim. The first Olympic disqualification for drugs was because a shooter drank two beers.
>>288290935I really do wonder if someone who started reading with this plot would even realize that Johan is a bad guy.Pages like >>288283743 are creepy to us because we know he's a monster, but would someone without that preconception think he's a bad guy?
>>288284185Why do mango always get peak when the MC gets sidelined
>>288283743Johan's such a good boy
>>288283258That's a face of try not to cry
>>288283516If he's going to do what I'm thinking he's going to do, I would be extremely disappoint about this "villain"
>>288295929Alright I was wrong, but now I'm more worried
>>288283258I wonder if that's the truth.
>>288283315wew when I saw the thumbnail of this page with the (You)s I thought he caved but I'm glad he didn't.
>>288283743Danke
Have a bump
This story is so fucking boring. It's like Tenma wasn't achieving anything relevant to his goals, so they had to shift the attention to these new literal who characters. No, seriously, this is fucking awful.
I'm not going to enjoy the moment when the detective inevitably relapses...
>>288294768Tenma is mostly a vehicle for the manga to explore other stories. In many ways the plot is a lot more about Johan than him, though I wouldn't call Johan the protagonist, more so the subject.
burp
>>288294768 Because manga are meant to be serialized. With that in mind, the main character usually gets the simpler designs, powers and personality, so they are easy to write consistently for long serializations.
>>288298445Johan is basically an Mc
>>288298353Nice.
>>288283743Thanks, OP.
>>288298445Maybe a shonen would be more up your speed?
Kapitel 53: Brought to Light
I wonder what's for dinner
>>288305871I just realised the therapist is a Tezuka characterHave there been others that I've been too thick to notice? Other than Dr Tenma obviously
>>288282826Am I too late to join the daily? How long is the story?
Kapitel 54: One Case
>>288306980Stop it, Johan... Why are you smiling at me like that?
>>288306980This is the man Light WISHES he was
>>288306275almost a third of the way through, still plenty of time to catchup
>>288308076I see, thank you anon
>>288306980The plot thickens...Thanks OP!
>>288306980Thank you for posting.
>>288306085Huh, was he actually in the chapter with the body bags too? I should go check.
>>288306980Please become very close to me I miss you come home Johan
>>288313113Nina...
>>288305741Now I'm curious about his foster parents
>>288292617uncanny
>>288306343Now I'm worry about him, surely he's going to be alright considering his original reference, right?
>>288306587I see what Johann is doing here
>>288306139if the kid was really aiming at the cop when he killed him is it really that big of a deal? enough to get him fired from the force?
>>288306915Now that raise another question, why is he using his real name all over the placeIs he hoping someone to notice? But then he tried to kill everyone that noticed, that just bug me
>>288314423It's the first in 10 years he is going by the name Johan again. He's doing it to fuck with everyone, he wants to be barely caught, to give them little crumbles, little hope.
>>288306818>>288306636>>288306019This is very suspicious for our detective or just extremely bad luck.
This is definitely one of my favorite arcs, especially with the hindsight of watching it previously. These are some of my favorite characters finally being introduced. I love the interactions between Richard and the doctor, the struggles that Richard and Karl face dealing with their pasts, how it all comes back to Schuwald. Lotte best girl of course.
>>288306980Danke
>>288314353He's probably the only evidence here and since he's drunk, they refuse to believe what he said
Lotte!
Nina!
>>288314353>alone in a dark alley>provably drunk>kill someone>"It was uh totally self defence"I feel like he just can't prove, and he killed someone while drunk on the job, so they kinda have to let him go because being out on the job drunk and with a gun is not something he should be doing, even if it might have been self defence. As for the reason it fucks him up, on top of losing his job because of it he probably isn't the most thrilled that he shot a guy.
NINA
>>288306636Paranoid much but this is one of the main reasons I'm wary while walking next to a construction site.
>>288322445
>>288306818Another fantasy world won't be saved!
Soon
Not yet
Kapitel 55: Journey to Johan
>>288306980Thanks OP
>>288326782Germans are known for their love of Kamen rider
>>288326867Alright this is starting to annoy meIs the serial killer thing gonna be a "he's deluding himself" reveal or something? I know he's not the LAPD, he's not used to blasting reprobates like a Charles Bronson film, but killing a serial killer isn't the same as accidently killing someone who probably didn't have it coming.
Kapitel 56: Execution
>>288324697how bout that prick's face when he saw the gat?
>>288326966Eh, France had Bioman dubbed so I suppose some of that could have made it over to Germany
>>288326852I miss flipping through the photo albums with my family.
>>288327033You can get the birth certificate of people unrelated to you?
>>288327323>>288327349Activated like a sleeper agent.
>>288327611I love the way the shadows keep on creeping.
>>288327468monstrous, you say?
>>288326852 Don't tell me Johan is going to get close to his daughter just to mess with him.
>>288327765Seriously? This manga is fucking absurd at times. Of course Johan was going to kill him, but talking him into suicide like this is just absurd. It's already a big stretch that Richard would follow Johan around like this, especially to an unknown location, and double especially without telling anyone, but for Johan to just go "kill yourself, kid" and for him to actually do it is simply beyond belief.
>>288327060The more it keeps getting brought up, the more it feels like the reaction to the situation is overblown. That said, maybe it's simply a cultural difference. Maybe American norms have made be biased towards officer-involved shootings. "Cop with a history of substance abuse shoots (serial killer) teen" is a pretty damning headline. The fact that he's still a free man indicates what he did wasn't considered a crime per se, it just doesn't look good. So he's surrendered his badge and has to attend therapy, but otherwise isn't being treated like a murderer.
>>288327060I read the story before but don't remember it well so I'm not sure any more if the following isn't my own memory coming to the surface and so an actual spoiler or just intuition about what it feels like but this whole time this plot thread has had very heavy "the serial killer was his son" vibes written all over it.
>>288327349It's cool rereading this because you notice things you missed, like how Tenma mentioned before you can kill someone with a pen if you stab there.
>>288327611Why are you following him!!?
>>288329851>>288327723Literally Johan:
>>288327765NOoOOOOOOOOThanks OP
>>288327379why not at my house
>>288327765Thanks, OP.
>>288326912Damn it, I love that guy.
gay
>>288327765Thank you for posting.
>>288326912Things are looking up for Richard>>288327634Oh shit so he wasn't drunk>>288327765Nevermind Richard looks like you got monstered. Thanks btw
>>288326912Sounds like a...death flag
>>288327379Why did you let him, the biggest suspect of your current countless case, in?
>>288327611I know he followed him since it's the biggest opportunity to get the infos he want, but still, isn't this kind of reckelss?
Richard you're fucking retarded, there I say itHis biggest mistake it make contact with Johan in the first place
>>288327011>>288327033That's kind of a huge leap to take based on vibes. Most people don't resemble themselves as babies.
>>288327486HE WAS SEVENTEEN YOU SICK FUGG
>>288327257>>288327278>hand me, a serial killer whose hands still aren't restrained after i tried to strangle you, a sharp instrument>no>do it>ok
>>288327323
>>288327468
>>288337767go back to your after party thread
>>288337798never stop, by the way does anyone have the first couple ones (i forgot to download them) as I only have the one from the last thread
>>288327765this is really fucking stupid>>288329851absurd doesnt do it justice
>>288327765what the actual fuck
>>288327566>>288327587People so surprised about him following Johan kind of miss the implication of him bringing up the daughter here. This is a serial killer that often kills by proxy and uses the murders to manipulate people by isolating them. Everything Richard knows about Johan suggests that leaving or otherwise provoking Johan by trying to arrest him or call for help would likely mean the death of the daughter by the hand of some unknown psychopath under Johan's thumb. Johan is presenting Richard with a choice: die as the drunkard people know you as or live on with the possibility to redeem yourself as a policeman but at the cost of your daughter's life.
>>288339036Or he could just kill him
>>288339181That wouldn't be very nice, and Johan's such a nice boy.
>>288339181He doesnt have a gun anymore
>>288329851You have to enjoy it for its absurdity.
>>288339036I don't understand why there are always people who have to defend the most obvious bullshit. >bringing up the daughter hereThat's after he already followed Johan to a bar, of all places.>call for helpYou tell people when you go out, especially late at night, especially when you're going with a stranger, especially when you suspect that stranger of being a serial killer. That isn't the same as calling for help. He's even already on the phone with his daughter when Johan knocks, if nothing else he could quickly whisper something to her.>death of the daughter by the hand of some unknown psychopath under Johan's thumbNot fucking immediately. Johan may be magic, but he doesn't know that. He's an ex-cop ace detective, he shouldn't be cowed by this (even if that ends up being to his detriment).>Johan is presenting Richard with a choiceIf it makes you feel better we can pretend that's what happened, but even then it's shit story telling. It's a total anticlimax.>>288339181He should have turned him into one of his proxies.
>>288341695Eeh. At this point in the story he doesn't really have fully conclusive evidence about Johan, and everything he's learned about him points to him killing by proxy to begin with, so following him to get as much information as he can while avoiding raising suspicion (since Johan approaches him with a believable excuse and he doesn't know for sure he's been found out yet) isn't necessarily the wrong thing to do, + it's in line with his personality as a detective. I'd wait on seeing how he actually died before coming to any definite conclusions, but also Johan having an unnatural amount of charm and sway over people is part of the premise.
Yup yup yup, another victory for INT/CHA builds.
>>288341695There is no way Richard would involve his daughter into his investigation, especially after what he learned. And like the other anon said he was looking for info. Johan's influence started to take hold after mentioning Rosemary. Who is Richard's weakest spot.
>>288342582I feel like Johan has some Wis too.
>>288338190
>>288344927Never been super clear on what a High int/low Wis or low int/high wis character is supposed to be like
>>288346240
>>288346242The former is your archetypical mad scientist, I'm doing this thing because I can and damn the consequencesThe latter, I dunno, that big black guy from the green mile? Tons of worldly knowledge but dumber than a sack of hammers.
>>288346287>The former is your archetypical mad scientistYou know, actually that does fit Victor Frankenstein (in the book) to a T.>I'm going to create life!>WTF what do I do now
Kapitel 57: A Decision

>>288355663Dr. Reichwein, I'm BKA.
>>288355663For (You)
>>288348134Seeing the doctor be so proactive to capture Johan these last two chapters is interesting. I guess Doc and Richard were extremely close
>>288337798These recent edits are missing the point on what made the orginal >>288346240 so fucking funny (on top of that one retard losing his shit about it): the>MONSTERedit must be the last panel, even if the original page's dialogue continues after mentioning a monster, that way it mimics the way they use the >INVINCIBLE title card each episode.
>>288356873I didn't even realize this was supposed to be an Invincible joke because I never watched it

>>288327739Bruh this translation is fucking awful. Doesn't he say something like 'Well, Richard, how about a drink?' in the original Japanese? I remember hearing 'nomimasenka?' in the Japanese dub of the show.
>>288327765I don't know how many chapters just to kill him like that is a bit lame
>>288357645I was waiting for this

>>288353075Never forgot Tenma would have saved everyone if he listened, well maybe except that young monster
>>288330113you're forgetting that postwar germany was supposed to be repenting for the sins of the reich, and that's etched into every public institution. even the word execution screams "gestapo". and since this is written from a japanese viewpoint by proxy it's also reminding the reader of the extrajudicial killings of the military junta and the later violent suppression of the student movement
