They really didn't. Even the Tres Bestias at least took out some Vice Captains. Harribel never hurt a soul. The only Espada that did anything was Barragan because he took Soi Fon's arm, but that's not much considering what the Espada lost.

The only logical explanation of the reveal is that it's solely Yammi's idea, him being dumb and trying to be clever.
