MangaDex now requires you to sign in to read manga.
That sucks.
What are the best alternatives to MangaDex?
>>
>>288297216
You realize before that they gave guests crappy low res versions so it was already a shit way to read manga without an account? Do you not have an expendable email for signing up to shit?
>>
>>288297216
have you tried deleting the cookies for mangadex
>>
>>288297216
just check everything.moe and pick a random aggregator
my guess is comic and mangafire or something like that
biggest issue with mangadex going legit isn't really about where to read manga, but where for scanlators to upload manga. mangadex has been the main scanlation hub for eight years now, and there's a lot of complacency when it comes to switch where you upload. a lot of groups are most likely just going to quit.
>>
>>288297255
this, I found much better websites to read manga from in that list
>>
Why are some of you tard so scared of making an account with a designated spam email. And just let google pick a password for you too. Don't have to remember shit.
I have 4 yahoo mails from the old days that don't require any 2 factor authentication or phone numbers.

don't want to be associated with a piracy site trying to go legit and has made precautions to throw anyone uploading there under the bus
only reason there hasn't been a total run from the place is because of complacency and there's not really another place for scanlators to upload right now with comick and weebdex gone. the alternatives to mangadex are kind of shitty, like mangago, mangatoro, and mangaball
>>
>>288297312
>it's free and everyone can upload everything
>actually we need to take down some stuff for legal reasons
>actually you should make an account if you want the proper resolution
>actually we're going legit, we just have to nuke a bunch of shit
>actually you need a free account to view stuff <--- (you are here)
>actually you now get a set number of credits to view free stuff but they refresh over time, or you can get more by supporting us
>actually you need to pay a registration fee but it's just a once in life payment for the site to survive
>actually we're reducing the free credits because we need to maintain our relationship with the rights holders by paying them
>actually just pay an optional monthly subscription for more credits
>actually we're taking away more stuff because we were ordered to
>actually you have to pay a monthly subscription to use the site now
>actually we had to take away some more stuff
>actually we're going bankrupt someone please buy us
>404
>>
>>288297590
honestly most likely it's
>actually you need a free account to view stuff <--- (you are here)
>someone please buy us
they're probably trying to increase members and value of the site to sell it
considering that most of the publishers now have their own solutions, there's really no place for mangadex, and they'd be pretty stupid if they don't realize it. there's no place for a manga fakku/crunchy in this market. but selling the site to a publisher for publicity is most likely their most intelligent move
not that mangadex is intelligent by any means, which they show over and over again I guess
>>
>>288297590
You missed the part where mangadex has already been sold. The current owner owns Namicomi, a platform for non japanese "manga". The endgame is likely taking the mangadex brand to push OEM content and pull out of piracy.

Have you tried making a throwaway email nowadays? They all want some form of verification whether it be a linked backup email or phone number. It's incredibly hard to make an email account that isn't tied to anything else nowadays.
>>
>>288297785
Proton requires literally none of those.
What the fuck do you mean by incredibly hard?
>>
>>288297768
>You missed the part where mangadex has already been sold.
huh? Henry Lin owns both namicomi and mangadex. mangadex hasn't been sold yet, although that's most likely the plan
>The endgame is likely taking the mangadex brand to push OEM content and pull out of piracy.
dead on arrival plan, nobody cares about the original content and weebtoons on their site. when they pull the pirated content, the site will be dead
>>
>>288297815
Yeah and most websites refuse Proton as a result.
>>
>>288297815
you can't make a gmail anymore without a phone number
I had to make an outlook throwaway e-mail when I started uploading to mangadex for this reason a year back
a lot of places won't accept proton mails like the other guy here suggested
luckily I have six gmail accounts so I'm hopefully not having any issues there soon
>>
>>288297815
I tried making a proton recently and I'm pretty sure it required something, don't remember what though.

their vpn used to be one of the best free vpns you could get, but they've nerfed it completely the past year. you can't select country anymore and have to randomly switch to the country you want with a timer, it's significantly slower, and the only good thing is that it's still unlimited bandwidth
I still use it, but luckily I don't have that high demands for my manga scanlation uploading, and I don't really use it for buying stuff in Japan anymore. But it kind of sucks how hard it is to get access to viz and similar stuff like that which are region locked, the few times I want to do that
still don't have remotely big enough reason to pay for it

The internet is so weird now compared to even just 10 years ago.
>>
>>288297397
Mangafire is a hot steaming pile of extra stinky poo.
>missing pages
>pages split into 90% and 10% slices
>chapters duplicated and out of order
>missing author tags more often than not
>>
>>288297590
But it's fine when Sad Panda does it.
>>
>>288298498
>>288297397
All this shit happens because mangafire scrapes other aggregators including low quality ones.
There are better scrapers out there that care about quality and only scrape originals and mirrors.
No I will not spoonfeed.
Best way to learn how the supply chains work is to install Suwayomi, install every single extension, pick 2-3 chapters each from a dozen diverse titles, download the chapters from every single source and compare.
If you you original upload among them FFmpeg can estimate re-compression level as PSNR, but the number may vary greatly for upscaling vs downscaling.
>>
What about weebcentral.com
>>
>>288297216
Weebdex was our only hope but the guy killed the site. Probably because it got too expensive.
>>
>>288297216
You can literally bypass it with ublock
>>
>>288297255
>and pick a random aggregator
what if I don't want watermarks and highly compressed images?
mangadex became popular among scanlators precisely because they keep the original image quality, something not even Weeb Central does
>>
>>288298777
Resizes scans.
Fine if you're just reading on a phone. Not acceptable if you're reading on a PC.
>>
>>288297847
>>288297785
it really sucks that gmail and outlook are the only two email providers on the planet
zero tech literacy
>>
>>288297216
oh god no where will I get my MTL Xitter webcomics now?
>>
i am several years late to this trend but i splurged on a good ereader recently and just download manga off now, use kcc to rotate the spreads and manage/pipe the volumes to it with calibre.

should've done this long ago, reading on the couch or in bed is so nice compared to reading at your pc.
>>
>>288297785

heres your spoonfeeding, faggot
>>
Bring back every scanlator having their own blog or tumblr.
Bring back having to fish for each individual chapter instead of having everything in one place.
Reject integration of services.
>>
>>288299138
Very few major sites accept these anymore.
>>
Good thing I read raws locally on my tablet now. Even if I have needed to buy more things than I maybe previously would have.
>>
>>288299155
No fucking way I am going to manually check updates for all these.
And you know what, that might actually be a good thing, shit is getting out of hand lately.
>>
>>288297216
Why don't you just sign in, you stupid faggot pirate? kys entitled trash
>>
>>288299219
don't move the goalpost now, MangaDex accepts it just fine
>>
>>288297974
>>288298046
How about
>read manga online free with the full res images from the scanlators not downscaled or transcoded to webp, no ads in the viewer itself, right to left option, quick updates (even better if the scanlators upload there themselves)
Can you googleduckgo that for me?
>>
>>288297216
I'd rather go to each individual scanlator site for new chapters than register to trannydex.
>>
>>288299259
You could make your own site, anon. Maybe you'll be the one that doesn't turn shit like Batoto and now MD have.
>>
>>288299266
>he thinks scanlators aren't trannies too
oh sweet summer child
>>
>>288299259
Also
>chapter names
>correct numbering/volumes
>volume covers, not just the latest one
>no chink or korean shit
>>
>>288297216
MangaDex's built in reader is trash, just rip shit with FMD2 or HakuNeko and read locally
you can delete the 5 credit pages in every chapter before reading too, makes the experience a lot more enjoyable
>>
>>288299275
I would but
>getting started requires preloading a ton of manga
>storage too expensive
>paying for online services is not anonymous enough
I did try to build something on top of ipfs once, but it would need critical mass of users before it becomes good.
>>
>>288298985
Don't bother. Zoomers are technologically illiterate.
It took me two seconds btw.
>>
>>288297216
Why haven't we destroyed this shit yet after the faggotry about minors?
>>
>>288299344
By online services I mean the hosting & domains.
>>
>>288299386
>we
>>
>>288299386
There was nothing better.
>>288299344
You would also need to keep track of other aggregators so you can have recent chapters. Too much trouble.
>>
>>288297216
Zoomers once again showing how incompetent they are.
>>
>>288299386
I don't know how anyone could take them seriously after that.
>>
>>288299412
Yes, we, faggot. As in intelligently working together to more effectively accomplish a common goal.
>>
>>288297974
>>288298046
99% of those sites are absolute cancer and aids
