By 1990, Metallica was already Metallica, so its really a timing issue. You would grab Pantera, sonic differences aside, for a stand idea once you started grabbing Pearl Jam or Smashing Pumpkins. Honestly, for a man his age, he has a pretty great taste in music all things considered.
