I just happened to finish the anime the other day.I had an almost visceral reaction to the ending, kind of sick to my stomach, until I found out it was a vn adaptation and that was essentially the prologue. Still pretty fucked how to turned out. I read the routes and weren’t really satisfied with any of them.

But the manga is much less censored and feels more like White Album 2. Doga Kobo censored a lot the adaptation of Shikimori and deleted a good part of the spicy elements from the series.

I've laughed off many a waifu war, but WA2 slipped through my defenses because it wasn't just a loser girl losing, but a friendship that brightened three people's lives for a short time before their flaws brought it all crashing down. It also solidifies most of the time why WA2's story wouldn't work any more in a modern scenario, and Maruto outing himself for being too affected by Saekano.It never hurts to keep buying WA2 merch to hope for a closing chapter/coda adaptation someday though.
