It's not "worth it" in the sense that it only gets worse but it's worth it in the sense that once the madness takes hold of your brain there's a strange enjoyment in experiencing it, so you should read until you catch up to the daily and then follow along with that (honestly you may even want to catch up by reading the daily through the archives) because it's one of the best experiences you can have on /a/ right now.

To the anon who recommended catching Tsuyoshi at the start of the tournament on chapter 68. Sorry, but after four fights I called it quits. The choreography is still as awful as ever, every fight has a dumb gimmick, some straight-up annoying, and the "domination->flashback->however" rhythm is tired. All in all it really gave the impression of a dumb parody of martial arts manga that started to try to be an unironic martial arts manga. Thanks for the effort though.

Yes. Not that you'd believe me anyway, or that it matters in regards to Musashi's "arc". Motobe constantly yammers about protecting people but he's wrong each and every time. He doesn't protect Yujiro because we know he would have survived without effort and that Yujiro was dominating Musashi. Motobe says in order to fulfill his mission, he'll have to kill Musashi, which he then stops doing because apparently he wants to protect Musashi too, who then goes on to kill more people. Even the part about Musashi being a threat to their world is wrong because he only ever killed Retsu who explicitly wanted a deathmatch. He doesn't kill Doppo, or Shibukawa, he likely wouldn't have killed Hanayama if he just tanked his last slash (which Hanayama always does), he's very easily stopped from killing Pickle by Motobe just showing up, he doesn't kill any fighter other than Retsu. It's clear Motobe doesn't care about his being a threat to the public given his killing spree happens after it and nobody gives a fuck. Baki's never been about morality, but it'd at least make more sense at that point because Musashi isn't a threat to their world the way Motobe says he is whilst he is a threat to public safety. Musashi isn't as passive as that fucking faggot Shen but he's made out to be a threat in a similar way despite not actually doing much of anything. At least Baki doesn't have a scapegoat to throw all the piss and vinegar at like Luohan.
>>288369174

>or that it matters in regards to Musashi's "arc"
It absolutely matters. Post-end Baki is essentially Itagaki simply putting his random reflections about strength and martial on paper. Itagaki sometimes changing his mind and following his inspiration of the week is what makes it so sincere and true to life despite the insanity. You nitpicking little details while misunderstanding entire metaphors like Musashi being a threat doesn't help your case and makes you look like an out-of-his-depth ESL from Argentina.

You'd come across as less disingenuous if you didn't mention
>ESL from Argentina
Given my perfect English. It isn't a nitpick when the entire "story" of Musashi is based on how he doesn't belong in their era, which make sense on paper but they routinely try to make it about the fact that he'll kill the others when Musashi is very much merciful. If he was in any way like the story tried to make him out to be, he'd have slaughtered Doppo in their little bout, but he did not. Then again, he'd not get much in terms of fame from it unless word of mouth got by, which it very easily could given the full on army of shinshinkai practitioners ready to attack Dorian because of what he did to Katsumi in a secluded area. It reads like Luohan or Yumigahama who in Omega are repeatedly made out to be irredeemable bastards despite the toleration of way worse people like Shen, Raian or even Akoya around.
>>
>>288369916
That's where they've got it all wrong. I've never implied Kengan is better. Omega is so much worse than any of its contemporaries that there's no comparison. Baki gets the worship despite clearly just throwing shit at the wall. Anything after SoO is Itagaki just doing whatever he wants which is obvious to anyone but Musashi gets a ton of love despite having several almost Omega-tier scenes.
>>
>>288370012
>You'd come across as less disingenuous if you didn't mention

It was a comparison to that W*ldFang autist, meant as an insult.
>If he was in any way like the story tried to make him out to be, he'd have slaughtered Doppo in their little bout, but he did not.
It's not about actually killing them, it's about the destroyed illusion about what the original Bushido was. Did you really miss the point? Doppo even quotes directly the "Book of Five Wheels" for fuck's sake.
>>
>>288370111

I haven't read it since it finished back then, so you'll have to make do with my fuzzy memories, but at its heart Musashi-Dou is about the meaning of Bushido in modern times. Have you ever found it weird that we talk so much about this supposed "samurai code of honor" in a lot of dojos, while other martial artists like wrestlers or boxers don't care? Why does it even get sometimes repurposed by professions that have nothing to do with fighting, just like Sun Tzu was on every trader's lips during the 80's?
Resuscitating Musashi is a way for the cast to measure up to who they hope will embody the purest Bushido, and their disappointment at their foolishness is why the story ends so anti-climactically with a surprise exorcism and Tokugawa apologising.
Don't know if my post's clear, I don't feel like re-reading myself.
>>
>>288370236
I think it's meant to represent his usual opponents in Judo, and Sandrobitch must've forced Daro to add that uncanny face because in his profound contempt for his readership he must've thought that no one dumb enough to enjoy Kengan must be able to understand that the ants are meant to be a metaphor for the Judokas Jurota surpassed.

Firstly, Itagaki doesn't use programs like Stable Diffusion to do his work for him.
Secondly, Itagaki is old.
Thirdly, Baki's main story has already concluded, so everything past that is just a really long omake.
The first part alone is already egregious enough to warrant a call-out. Omega is supposed to still have an intense plot where we are supposed to want to see the Kenganvengers win, but we don't.

He has less tact than Yujiro since he's a weak mortal man who gained strenght whereas Yujiro has always been "The Strongest Creature On Earth".

So to Mushashi fights with perceived danger are to the death and he will try to reach the conclusion in the least amount of steps necessary. Yujiro will never consider his life to be in danger.

In words "you people" might be able to comprehend. Mushashi is just "weak" enough to "win".

According to Motobe who is shown to understand Mushashi the best out of the entire cast, he was just about to MURDER Ogre and would have had he not protected him.

Kengan Omega is a continuation of the Worm plot Asura set up. We shitpost about it now, but "Evil is on the move" genuinely did used to mean something back in the day.
Implying that Omega doesn't deserve to exist is a bit much. The reason the present state of the manga hurts so much is precisely because there was so much being built up in the first 50 chapters.

With all the time and posts you've devoted to "me", and the space I seem to occupy in your mind, I would've hoped you've taken the time to actually think up some kind of psy profile and motives. Stop seething about Toa
>>
>>288380507
I like Jurota, but Toa is an absolute black hole of engagement. The biggest nothing character in the series, Sandro had absolutely NOTHING in mind with him besides "Alolan Julius for a mirror match". He had no character besides the basic seeker stuff, his cultural stuff was barely touched on, his moves exist for the sake of a cliffhanger nobody believed so Ohma could Niko basedjak and Sandro cared so little about him that he fights different every time he's appeared since then.
Even other Purgatory shitters who Sandro is either ambivalent about or despises got screentime outside of their one match, character moments, omakes, ect, Toa got NOTHING. He's one of the most utterly textbook jobbers in a series full of them, he has no purpose or screentime other than making others look good by beating him.
Meanwhile Sandro decided to make Jurota into a literal schizo with a Meguro tulpa so he's gotten less interesting too. Maybe he'll get something later with how Meguro's grave is on the island, and Masaki is also there somewhere, but if he has a good moment this arc, it sure as fuck won't be this fight.
>>

His own person. He is simply too deeply autistic to pretend to be someone else, or for him to be the alter ego of another anon, the amount of time he spent writing stuff and endlessly posting about other series' characters beating up Kengan ones. Lover of Garodan and Tanba.
>spoilerfag
The "aberrant one". May be the barbecue poster, but other than that, his posts simply aren't distinct enough to directly "connect" to another persona.

Usogui art is weird, it gets way better over time but the anatomy is often still quite questionable. I don't mind it, what's more off-putting for me is that there's no good translation available. Team Duwang is readable but you can tell it's not entirely accurate. None of the other translations cover the entire manga afaik. I once found an actually decent one on some random site but then I couldn't find it again.
>>
>>288380749
It's possible that anyone is anyone desu, but Sandrobitch anon was active in the dailies too as that distinct poster and didn't seem to have a problem with it happening/discussed spoilerfag alongside his usual posting in the same posts and stuff. Anything can be samefagging/RP and there are anons schizo enough to do so, I just don't think the "connection" is there without some leaps. Maybe if it was an anon trying to ruin a SiR storytime or something instead.
>>
>>288380749
Considering the nature of the accusations, I'm not sure if it's possible for him to even prove his innocence in that regard. The whole discussion is honestly a bit uncomfortable.
Either way, he posts nothing like the anon spamming spoilers. There was another person doing an Omega storytime in concurrence with the Asura dailies. If there's any suspect, I'd say it's that one, but who knows.
>>
>>288380966
It's impossible, I agree. it's also a bit off topic so I don't really want to drag it out. It's not like I get pleasure to shit on some rando either, I just think the Sandrobitch posting has gotten a bit out of hand. Once or twice it's fine but holy hell it happens often and it's always at 100% power, no room for nuance or whatever. >>288381087
OPM isn't even a manga anymore
The constant redraws and retcons removed all ability to engage with the material, nobody cares where the story is going because
1/ we already have the webcomic, so we know where the story would be going if it was good
2/ it's not going anywhere because it gets redrawn constantly
3/ the emphasis on the art gives the manga an artificial quality to it, incorrect moments are emphasised through incorrectly attributed effort and so the pacing feels much worse
All this turns it into a high quality picture book to flip through instead of something to engage with and discuss

A very necessary fight that was extremely well set up far in advance and was a long time coming. Totally not just something Sandro came up with while taking a shit a few minutes before his weekly deadline.

LMAO there needs to be an edit of this that puts in something like "character vs author" in there.
>>
>>288364848
See, it's shit like that, that prevents Kengan from reaching Baki. Kengan tries to present itself overly seriously and still grounded despite all the impossible and terribly written shit in it.
Baki plays it straight and has a somewhat self aware sense to it when it does its stupid shit. That's why Itagaki keeps DOING stupid shit. He most likely knows it's absurd, but it's more about the metaphorical intensity and emotions packed into the story and fights than being focused on HAVING grounded fights "within rules".
The most important fight of the series is settled with hallucinating food and kitchenware for fucks sake. Like come the fuck on. There's levels to this, and Itagaki makes it all come across as sincere.

Oh yes, most certainly. Don't forget how schizophrenic the writing in Ashura felt between "during the fight" and "after the fight". Cosmo going to thank and befriend Akoya for what was a public torture is to this day one of the most insane scenes I've ever read or watched.

It is insane but I could understand it, given the nature of schizo fight manga like this. What I don't get is how Kengan is constantly making a thing of morality, yet no one seems to give a fuck when it's the Kenganvengers doing the fucked up shit. Imagine if they took Yujiro's crimes more seriously in Baki, but then didn't care about another one of their group being a serial pedophile rapist. It's just incoherent.

>Bad deeds are bad except if a friend mine did it, then they probably have a good reason or maybe it's good actually
I'd say pretty coherent with that in mind.

There are some translation/localization choices that are specific HnGisms that they use for literally every instance(ie, every older character is "pops" and so on), but the brainrot lines like "got it all wrong" are just the straight translation of common Japanese phrases and stuff. It's why you have anons being mindbroken by random hentai panels and the like too.

Almost all fights will end that way. Fighter will get the shit beat out of them and will still shake hands, even the ones where they suffer heavy damage or if there was bad blood between the two combatants. It’s one of the more realistic things about this manga actually. It follows the theme of other stuff in shonen where people are at deaths door against other characters. Also Cosmo is on a cocktail of painkillers and signed up for a death tournament, he knew what he was getting into and didn’t truly understand what that meant until he fought Akoya. You underestimate the fightfag spirit within Cosmo and other fictional characters.

No. Having competed myself in several disciplines you gain a measure of respect and appreciation for your opponent, but this shit is on another level of alien morality. Sandro writes fights with levels of gore and edginess that wouldn't feel out of place in stuff like Shamo, and as soon as the fights end writes like he's trying to imitate K-on. It's stupid and no amount of copium about "fightfag spirit" can compensate for that. Cosmo didn't know what he entered, because Akoya straight-up skirted the rules by preventing him from forfeiting a match he had won, just to torture him. It's just bad writing, you should be used to it by now.

It makes sense if it was a major point of contention with how Yumi uses the techniques he """stole"""" as its objectively rather scatterbrained
>Use spear
>Then use sword
>Then maybe Kenpo
There was no clear intention or coherency with the styles he used nor have they been shown to be able to be used in conjunction. Both Carlos and Nicolas have some level of focus in them until the latter gets retconned but whatever. This is of course my own personal headcanon as Sandro was busy demonising him more. It's silly anyway since the idea of "having too many options is bad" is already treaded ground as that was Agito's problem after fighting Gaolang.
>>
>>288406920
The kind of scatterbrained that's weirdly impressive considering:
a) Yumigahama has completely remade weapon techniques to function barehanded.
b) He somehow mulched Jose TWICE with this kit.
>>
>>288406956
He also somehow got to fang rank doing all this.

It do makes me wonder where exactly Sandro decided to make him into a joke. His first mention is Himuro saying he's on par with Agito. Then his first appereance is he one shotting Koga, and also mentions of how he beat José and Nicolas once. Then he beats José again offscreen. After this I imagine Sandro decides to pivot into Lolong as the purgatory MVP (he is right in the middle of the purgatory team while monkey man is behind him), then his first line after that is being mocked by Carlos, then Nicolas, then Lolong, and then by the time he fights shit hits the fan

I can sort of understand it from the perspective of taking advantage of what those fighters have. Nicolas has insane reach and great reflexes so he built a custom style around that. Yumigahama is gigantic with a massive build and alarming speed. How does he leverage this? Finesse attacks with invisible weapons. He has a god tier build and is pumping all his skill into random shit he picked up that doesn't take advantage of any of it. Ohma remarks at the start of his fight that his footwork sucks and he's wasteful, that is not the mark of a guy who should be trying to play the finesse game. To put it in game terms he's got the natural stat spread to play a great warrior and chose to spec into rogue instead. Yumi would be significantly more successful if he leaned into the brute he's built as.

I don't think any of this justifies how he's treated by Sandro but I at least sort of understand what's trying to be said there.
