I was watching some random fan videos and stuff and something hit me about why Emilia is so boring. She's just so entirely one-dimensional. She can't remember her, but just seeing and being near her is enough for her to instinctively know that she shared a deep connection with her. She's built up deep feelings of inadequacy for allowing this to happen to her sister who she can feel she had immense love for, and feels pathetic that she can't even remember any of it. Her one connection back to that world with Rem was through the memories that Subaru maintained, and seeing him lose those last few memories of Rem remaining in the world pretty much mentally broke her
