>>288410830Because she is at her most threatening when she is in her element which is to take her time to slowly scheme behind the scenes. But against Rimuru she has the problem that he is encroaching on the Western Nations and if Mariabel waits too long it will be checkmate and she'll lose the position to even fight back at all. Time is on Rimuru's side. So now she is forced to break away from her usual MO and take an all-out gamble, which is why her new scheming might seem "less refined" than before. Though she has quite a big additional problem because of Glenda still being alive (reminiscent of the situation of Myulan against Clayman) and giving out all the information she possesses puts Mariabell at a massive disadvantage in her information war against Rimuru. Mariabell was overconfident in her Greed Skill and the consequences of that are now unraveling themselves one-by-one starting with Glenda.
>>288411173>overconfident in her Greed Skill>>288410987>the concept of her power is poorly thought out and presentedbasically, everybody gangsta until your enemy has an ultimate skill (or 3+1)

>>288409226I want Mr. Slime to look at me like that.
It's alright Mariabel's hero grandpa will teach her in advance that her powers won't work on demon lords.
>>288411173Problem is unlike earlier, nothing Rimuru does at this point feels earned. He has too many powerful allies, and that's not even starting on his bullshit AI tulpa. So there is no satisfying logic to her mistakes or unraveling, if anything you almost wish she would still end up at least hurting him in some way (and have less of a 1-dimensional villain motivation behind what she's doing).
>>288411297>nothing Rimuru does at this point feels earned>because of all the things he has earned What?
>>288411019You can have both
>>288407082It's just a little roughousing you goober. Thats the roughhousing look
>>288411297That's non-sense. Any long-running story that prioritizes "feeling earned" all the time will ultimately devolve into a shitty "level-scaling" loop (not just limited to MUH powerscaling but also political/social capital, etc.) that just turns it into trash because in order to always make things "feel earned" you'll inevitably have to dilute all previous accomplishments retroactively, as any gains and advantages cannot be long-term since that will lead to this situation here where success that is persistent and lasting makes it impossible for the MC to be the eternal underdog fighting against all odds forever to ""justify"" any successes in a ""relatable and empathetic for the average person"" way. It's a zero-sum game. You have to choose what you want to prioritize.
>>288411477I will remember this.

>>288410830She's in a body of a little girl so her powers arent as strong. She has no experience of real monster threats and she wasnt born in the modern technological times. She in general has no concept of the dangers she's taking on just like any normal person that has never seen monsters

>>288411521>in order to always make things "feel earned" you'll inevitably have to dilute all previous accomplishments retroactivelyYou have a point but that's essentially still what's happening now, just very poorly. All these episodes "building up" Maribel and larping that she is a credible threat for that reason. The logical thing to do with the story at this point would be having Rimuru play more 4X games and politics, more big stakes battles, but unfortunately he's a retard and has to delegate all strategic and intellectual activity to his AI.
>>288411677yeah like showing her your entrails when treyni slices you with an aerial blade for looking at her queen wrong
>>288411677i want to fuck her so bad, you don't even knowlike she's seriously my type
>>288411568Rimuru is overreliant on Raphael, but he is not overdependent on her. Seems like the same thing at first glance, but the distinction still matters a lot.Fortunately the anime is finally showing one of the scenes of Rimuru being a schizo which it had skipped over in previous seasons.
>>288411645But anon, becoming a Demon Lord was literally the culmination of all the things he accomplished and friends he made along the way. Both Raphael and Diablo are things he earned.
I will say, at least the best part of Rimuru going braindead relying on his AI to handle all big matters is that we get prime dressing up and goofing around with your friends kino. Doubt this can beat the fucking around in the dungeon with Milim, Veldora and Ramiris arc but its still fun.
>>288411754he did nothing in particular to find and take diablo in. he just happened to encounter the mask and went to answer his summons by himself
>>288411696Rimuru already having everything he needs to take on the new enemy is the opposite of diluting all previous accomplishments retroactively. If anything, this is reinforcing them by showing how much of a threat he is.
>>288411754>Both Raphael and Diablo are things he earned. The story would objectively be better without those two. Milim and Veldora are fine to be insanely overpowered, because the way they're written they're forces of nature that have to be tard wrangled constantly. Its always fun and satisfying to see interactions with them, and how their relationship grows.

>>288411651>wolfs beaten? ok ogres appear. ogres joined? ok orc lord. oh look gazel. oh look milim and air shark. oh look hinata fucking sakaguchi. Are you retarded? That's not "level-scaling". Quite the opposite in fact. Rimuru runs into others in a way that is not stably progressing upwards just enough that he can beat them in that same arc. It's all over the place or jumps straight up to a level that he couldn't handle. First enemy Rimuru fights is the Black Snake (Tempest Serpent). Everything and everyone he fights after that (other monsters in cave, Direwolves, adventurers in front of Dwargon, ants chasing the baka-trio, Ifrit's salamnder summons) are all actually weaker than the Tempest Serpent. Only Ifrit is stronger again. After that he fights Gelmud who is weaker than Ifrit again, and then it's the Orc Disaster that's stronger than Ifrit. But then things escalate and Rimuru has to fight Gazel who, if he was serious, would wipe the floor with Rimuru (at the time) if he went all out with Earth Spirit Fusion that would make him as powerful as Hinata when she uses her "fairy armor". Then it's Milim's turn who is in the Top 5 strongest of the multiverse. Rimuru also gets in a stalemate against Charybdis despite two armies supporting him (GS was also completely useless for that fight, btw). Then he undertakes the adventurer exam fights (skipped in anime) easily, even while holding back, then fights two one-shot fights again (Sky Dragon and Elemental Colossus, both comparable to Orc Disaster) and then Hinata. After that he one-shots the 20k army and then at Walpurgis it's Milim (round 2) and then Clayman who is between Orc Disaster and Charybdis in power. Finally Hinata round 2. At that point he is removed from fights almost entirely And despite running into Gelmud-tier enemies like Gaiye/Reiner he is naturally distanced from them due to his position. It's even more all over the place if you included OVAs/OADs/movies in the chronology of fights.
>>288412150>ruleRimiru didn't even want to rule a tiny goblin village, let alone the continent. He's just sort of thoughtlessly and heedlessly warping the economic balance of the region, and it would've been a lot worse than it currently is if he didn't have much smarter people to devise controlled distribution of disruptive technologies for him. Just his mass production of High Potions could've completely destroyed an entire industry all over the western continent if it was implemented as he originally intended.
>>288410987>Well never mind I guess I already know the answer to this. Raphael will solve it>>288411568>Rimiru is almost entirely dependent on Raphael to autopilot the "tough" matters>>288411632>i wish Raphael would assume direct control so we didn't have to hear the dumb Japanese twink rambleGeez Clayman, can you give a break and stay dead? Let me remind you that Raphael is always glad to help. And if you argue that she has no choice, she will, and she will choose to continue helping Rimuru.
>>288411754Actually, they aren't. But that is in of itself not a bad thing. Diablo follows Rimuru just for being who he is, it just took a random summons for Diablo to latch onto, though the 20k massacre is what enabled Rimuru at the time to give Diablo a body that he can use permanently. But following Rimuru simply for being Rimuru is a key characteristic of Diablo to begin with and he gives an additional angle on how Rimuru deals with that type in his ever-growing cult of personality. As for Raphael, it was Great Sage acting on her own to fulfill Rimuru's wish. This is something that people often seem to forget but Raphael isn't just some plot device, she is a character of her own who likewise has her own development.
>>288412270>He's just sort of thoughtlessly and heedlessly warping the economic balance of the regionThat was true up until the Falmuth invasion. After that any time Rimuru talks about just "fumbling into it by accident" is just a straight up lie. You didn't seriously buy that, did you? Well I guess in the anime it was not made clear enough, but the LN shows Rimuru having monologues about the exact things that everyone mentioned in this episode and is now just trying to act all innocently about it. Remember, we are talking about the guy who DELIBERATELY turned Falmuth, now "Falmenace", into his own puppet government that is being led by his loyal subordinate Youm.
>>288411173I find it hard to read Maribel because she comes off as a highly competent and intelligent schemer, yet she's basically playing out her hand exactly like the Kingdom of Falmuth. Only with a lot less reason to be confident. In the Falmuth incident, Rimiru wasn't yet a demon lord, there wasn't a whole lot of reliable information about him. It was reasonable, though perhaps short-sighted, of Falmuth's leadership to assume he was a mere upstart that could be defeated with enough planning and several secret weapons brought to bear against him. And to Falmuth's credit, they spared no expense: they deployed basically everything at their disposal to destroy Tempest and Rimiru. The formidable wizard Razen, the isekaijin trio they had summoned, they fully leveraged their connection to the Western Church and got Temple Knights and a Holy Field cast over the city to weaken the elite monsters to a level they could handle. Falmuth was confident of success, but they didn't hold back at all, they used pretty much every resource they had, and had the aid of Clayman behind the scenes, too. Compared to all that, Maribel just has her ultimate skill, Greed, and the resources of the rich and influential Rozzo family. Her political and economic influence is immense, but in terms of raw power, she has considerably less than Falmuth did when they picked a fight with a much weaker Rimiru, who was relatively unknown at the time so they had less reason to be afraid of him. But now, Rimiru is a demon lord, he is publicly acclaimed as a demon lord by the other demon lords, and is allies with several of them. He is widely known to be the only thing keeping Veldora in check. He has the friendship and military alliance of several western nations already. I just don't see any basis for Maribel's confidence. It is starting to come off as sheer ignorance and foolishness.
>>288412574>her ultimate skill, Greed, she wishes it was ultimate. then it would actually have a chance of doing something to rimuru.(it would still be blocked by raphael and dabbed on thanks to rimuru's mana levels)
>>288412611I already basically surmised that Greed has a 0% chance to work on Rimiru. Mostly, it's just a skill that will make trouble for him by mind controlling other people. But like 90% of the usefulness of that depends on Rimiru not being aware of the mind control, or if he is, not knowing who is behind it. Now he knows Maribel has mind control abilities, and moreover, that he can break them easily. So what was perhaps her greatest personal advantage is now gone. It seems like her current plan is to blow up Rimiru and Milim with an unstable reactor or something, but that also has like a 0% chance of working. I can't see any reason Rimiru couldn't just Beezlebub the reactor, and I doubt there's an explosion capable of killing Milim, or even hurting her seriously. We've never seen her sustain anything close to an injury, and have seen her launch attacks that obliterated mountains. If Milim could be killed by what amounts to a nuclear bomb I'd be shocked.
>>288412504I think Rimiru just really, really hated Falmuth for what they did to Tempest, and specifically, to Shion and the others who were killed. He hasn't shown any inclination to subvert other nations, just Falmuth specifically, because he didn't even want to try coexisting with that country after what they did.
>>288412649That wouldn't match the current information from the anime where Mariabell clearly states that her "hidden secret weapon" is something that belonged to Milim in the past. The city and its reactor on the other hand belonged to elves.

>>288410830She's a woman.
Milim in cute clothes alone make me rate the show a 10/10.
>>288412504As for Falmuth, they could have easily won if it weren’t for the fact that they made basic mistakes and had bad luck.>Lack of proper military communication, if Hinata had been informed that the troops were under attack by Rimuru, she would have quickly returned to help>Poor intelligence and reconnaissance relying on just one person, they didn’t realize that powerful characters were outside. They didn’t know what weapons Tempest had at its disposal (they didn’t have any at the time, but they could have; for example, the knights’ attack could have been stopped by a man firing a machine gun from a window). Similarly, the Isekajin could have fallen victim to some purely physical weapon.>Soldiers crammed tightly into the camp, with no trenches at all. And yet both sides possessed, and knew the other side possessed, magic equivalent to modern bombs and artillery>Strategic locations (crystals) were not manned by soldiers capable of holding off a stronger monster even for a moment>Lack of contingency plans, or even a simple Plan B in case something went wrong>General underestimation of the enemy and overconfidenceAnd I’m sure there are plenty more examples that could be dug up.
>>288412649A nuclear bomb has a rather nasty characteristic: it generates a very strong, brief burst of electromagnetic radiation of various wavelengths traveling at the speed of light, as well as particles traveling only slightly slower.According to “our” laws of physics, there is no way to actively defend against this, because information cannot travel faster than light. This would, for example, make it impossible to absorb the blast before it reached you, no matter how much time was slowed down. You would simply see it only at the moment of impact.Only strong passive protection could save him. And even if he survived, there’d be no chance of absorbing the heat wave still traveling onward because he wouldn’t be able to catch up to it.He’d have to use some techniques that break “our” laws of physics. The same applies to Milim and Veldora, except they probably doesn’t know anything about absorption, so they might survive on their own only because they are tough.
>>288415782ultimate skill uriel has complete control over laws, as long as you can articulate and imagine exactly what you want to achieve and pay the price in mana.raphael has at least 1 million times accelerated reactions and can use uriel in that time scale.he also has pre-made uriel based defenses like le 'absolute defense' that no sells disintegration (equivalent to nukes in universe).overall not so bad.
>>288415782radio waves aren't going to hurt any kind of meat, radio waves react mostly with metal and meat doesn't have a lot of that. The flash burst gives more than enough time to activate defenses, perhaps after burning a few hairs. The fireball is easy to tank or outfly. The hurricane wind is harmless to any half decent monster. So far the only real threat is the neutrino and gamma burst, which is deadly to organic tissue but otherwise low impact. Like, you don't get slammed against a wall by a gamma burst. Any sort of passive defenses tuned to these dangers would have no problem deflecting it.

>>288415602Hinata couldn't get involved so easily because she didn't just represent the church globally, but also Lubelius. At the time the church could only get involved in the invasion with their local branch forces of Falmuth. As Falmuth was already acting in a way that was dubious then if Hinata got involved with neither declaration of war by Lubelius, nor an actual "God's enemy" decree by the church, then it would give Dwargon the justification to intervene and it would become a true "international incident". Any intelligence and reconnaissance would have been intercepted by Souei's group. If anything Falmuth was lucky that they didn't do it properly because else Rimuru might have loosened his "rules" right then when Souei would ask how to handle "human spies" before any barrier was in place. Besides, how were they supposed to find out if there was anyone strong there? No outsiders even knew about the Orc Lord evolving into the Orc Disaster and even if Yuuki/Damrada/Clayman leaked info about Charybdis to Falmuth, it would just be a long-distance recording with few details about how Tempest/Dwargon combined forces fought Charybdis to a stalemate and only Milim being able to deal with it. Falmuth's actual fighting power would have been their Legion magic that would have actually made them able to fight Tempest even without barriers on equal grounds, so they didn't really need a "contingency plan" for the barriers being destroyed, and even that was only at all possible because Rimuru managed to come back and create a hole in the barriers to bring forth enough forces to deal with them. Then Rimuru's Megiddo was made exactly to counter the Legion magic and there would certainly not be any "plan B" against that. Ontop of all that Yuuki actually fed Falmuth false info because he expected and intended for Tempest to still overall win the war but with Rimuru most likely dead, but no one knew about how much Rimuru's initial "3 laws" would initially inhibit Tempest.

So how far will these first two cours (24 episodes) get before the break? There are still at a minimum 2 episodes left for this arc/volume, so let's assume they wrap it up with episode 10. We'll have 14 episodes left. I have 4 scenarios in mind: >14 episodes just for Hero Awakening arc >10 episodes for Hero Awakening arc, 1-3 episodes for the direct aftermath from Eve of War arc, 1-3 episodes as "special episodes" (e.g. Lakeshore dyed red incident, etc.)>10 episodes for Hero Awakening arc, 4 episodes as "special episodes" (e.g. Lakeshore dyed red incident, etc.) >7/8 episodes for Hero Awakening arc, 6/7 episodes for Eve of War arc The problem is I have no idea just how far they want to go with all 5 cours of "season 4". It would be absurd if it ended on a cliffhanger in the dimensional fortress. That would have been like ending season 1 on Rimuru being "killed" by Hinata or on Rimuru finding Shion dead. I don't see how that would work. I guess they could do it like season 1 and end it right before Rimuru goes there but then we'll have one of the biggest climaxes of the story in the first few episodes of season 5. But if they rush through to that moment itself then... well, it will be rushed as fuck. I guess one way it could work is having the 3rd cour be used for a spin-off cour again like they did in season 2 with Slime Diaries, so we could get Slime Diaries S2 or perhaps Trinity in Tempest or even the vacation spin-off. Then the remaining 2 cours could comfortably cover the Eve of War arc and the Empire Invasion arc.

>>288415924>The flash burst gives more than enough time to activate defenses, perhaps after burning a few hairsNot when the bomb explodes a few meters from you. If any active mechanism could help, it would simply be the detection of radiation from fissile material, indicating that there is something there that is most likely an atomic or hydrogen bomb.If this were not noticed or were ignored, the last option, without bypassing "our" physics, would be to detect the detonation of a detonator made of explosive plastic (difficult, as one would have to detect the weak radiation it emits, or perhaps more likely, the radiation of an electrical pulse in the wire leading to the detonator) and intercepting the bomb before the charge triggers the atomic bomb, which in turn triggers the hydrogen bomb. Because this is the longest portion of the time interval between applying the pulse to the detonator and the release of all the energy. We’ve seen a similar feat recently when Rimuru blocked a pistol bullet from a distance of just a few decimeters. Here, it would be similar, except that the reaction time would be several times shorter due to the plastic’s high detonation speed.
>>288424179so?
>>288424179ah yes, the irrefutable strategy of "open your mouth and close your eyes, and you will get a big surprise!" and activating a nuclear bomb directly in rimuru's face.
>>288424220No, it’s enough for him to disrupt the triggering sequence, for example, by breaking the bomb with something more or less magical (the radioactive debris would have to be cleaned up afterward, or not, if he done it super precisely).Although, he could easily just absorb it and neutralize it. The detonation speed of plastic is only between 8 and 10 km/s, and pieces of heavy uranium or plutonium have to accelerate and travel to the point of impact. That’s a very long time compared to what happens after critical mass is exceeded.
>>288424220Someone might try to kill him that way, of course in combination with a very powerful magic suppression.Basically, it works on a similar principle to Megiddo, only much more complex and powerful.
>>288424220Rimuru already absorbed a "magic nuke" in the first movie.
Havent been reading these threads but am I the only one disappointed that Yuki is being mind-controlled? The opening shows that he fights Rimuru so I'm still looking forward to that, but I dont like him being technically "faultless" since he's brainwashed. I'm hoping there's a plot twist about this.
>>288424179What about releasing some short but high-power impulse in higher number of dimensions? It could work but only when fired as a beam (no energy loss) or nearly point blank explosion. Energy decreases with distance raised to the power of the number of dimensions in which it propagates minus one.For example, we live in three dimensions, so energy will decrease with the square of the distance (ignoring interactions with air, etc.)Or on a piece of paper, i.e., in two dimensions, “energy” will decrease linearly with distance.

Simply because we have seen the limits of Maribel's power, and it's not impressive, whereas we have not seen the limits of Yuuki's power, or even any real demonstration of his abilities. It would be supremely underwhelming for Yuuki's abilities to be kept secret this long only for him to be so weak that Maribel can control him. I find it more likely Yuuki is, if not on Hinata's level, is at least significantly above Maribel's.

>>288428590Names are not free though. It´s like a contract, the master takes the life threatening risk to increase the vassal´s power but in turn that power must be used to serve the master with absolute loyalty. Furthermore Rimuru foodchain ultimate skill deepens this relationship even further. In exchange for Rimuru´s powers and gifts Raphael gets absolute control over those powers. Meaning she can turn them on and off at will. Primordials and even Veldora are no exception. Off course doing so may irreparably damage the vassal´s soul so it´s a last resource but generally speaking once a monster accept Rimuru´s bargain he becomes their daddy and they all have to obey. That said they are all essentially eternal/immortal so they are probably fishing for purpose and entertainment and don´t mind the cost. >>288428605That´s probably the power of the pact speaking. Servitude doesn´t feel like a burden or obligation for him but to be absolutely fair Diablo knew about Rimuru well before he was actually summoned and had been anticipating his arrival.
>>288429439not a spoiler
>>288429439>That said they are all essentially eternal/immortal so they are probably fishing for purpose and entertainment and don´t mind the cost.this is always the problem in left wing utopian societies, the end goal is always to eliminate any and all work but people love workinga job, a place, a role, a dutythe pain from boredom can easily be greater than physical and mental pain from working a brutal joband its compounding over timeit can literally drive you insanefor someone who is a LITERAL no thoughts head empty it might be ok but for any functionally immortal being who almost always has a high iq and thinks alot and constantly about everything, the boredom is more likely to functionally kill you than any enemy.its not an uncommon trope for a villain to fuck with the protag just because they are bored and that leads to them dying even if they had zero threats to them before hand.and them not really caring that they are dying because they finally got to entertain themselves and that entertainment is so satisfying that it was all worth it.
>>288429439I'm anime only and that spoiler isn't a spoiler, there's an anime scene with him watching Rimiru before he was summoned.
>>288429553>>288429780Oh it is a spoiler, you just misunderstood what it means.
>>288430186If it's impossible to understand what it means then there's no point in spoilering it...
>>288428590They don't crave servitude at all, in fact each one of them would rather be top dog and rule over the others. What they crave are physical bodies which they can use to have a permanent position in the world, or the physical realm, or whatever you want to call it.The demon realm isn't physical, so demons, including the Primordials, don't have a body their soul is bound to. They can pop up in the physical world for a time using bodies made purely of magic but it drains their power and it can only be temporary, so they want physical bodies for them to inhabit in the physical world permanently, with no time limit.Diablo legitimately wants to server Rimuru because he sees something special in him. The other 3 are going to be "persuaded" by Diablo, literally or figuratively, to come meet Rimuru. Once that happens they're also impressed with him, plus Rimuru offers them physical bodies and names on top too.
>>288430328Actually something regarding the demons that is never outright explained but strongly implied at several points in the story up until and including the story's ending: Rimuru is implied to be the "shadow" cast from Veldanava like how the Primordial Demons are the shadows cast by the Angels, a naturally occurring counter-balance of sorts. Rimuru's name in some Japanese cultural thing can also be turned into the number 666 and I remember that same number being used as Furigana above Rimuru's name in a raw text once (just one of those things that get lost in translation by both official and unofficial TLs pretty much every time). So that's it: Rimuru is essentially THE "Devil" in this setting so the demon primordials, including even Guy and his two maids to some extent, feel innately attracted to Rimuru by default. Of course the other reasons mentioned previously by others are also still true. It's usually not just limited to one sole reason after all.
