After watching GGO S2, I hate to say it, but it seems likes serious stakes that drive the characters is important. It sucks that it flopped so poorly

First season was good.

Not sure why I didn't like the second. I dropped it early and didn't feel like picking it up.

I thought about it some more, they just dragged out minor moments for too long. Also the lack of underlying driving force behind the entire season. First season has Pitohui's challenge to LLENN and all the other SAO's have some unifying theme/storyline that drives everyone's behaviour.
