He totally has plans and desires to become a complete murderhobo right?

Either way I still stand by the idea that the system is fundamentally broken. Kidnap kids, declare them orphans, sell them, profit. Your township is now complicit and always is, everyone has to be totally okay with the idea that 'oops, one or more parents died, better sell my deceased neighbors kids into sex slavery or the mines, cause it's a net benefit for the town', zero worry about what would happen to their own kid, which is often the whole reason why you don't go down this fucking path. Your own offspring will be subject to this shit as well. You'd have peasants trying to kidnap and sell each other into slavery all over the fucking place, and THEN the nobles can basically just do that to you anyway, at any age.

How's this place function without everyone effectively being at each others throat?

Yeah fuck this society. Almost everyone around Myne is evil, full stop. Doesn't matter that they're living in "this sort of era". There've been eras in human history where selling children was fine too, but there are always people in those eras that still know perfectly well that it's wrong.

She's a trove of future tech and a massive culture shock. They needed to commit to exploring her past and getting her used to this world far more.

First of all, there simply isn't a huge market for people wanting to buy children in general. Any orphans you cannot sell will just end up being a liability for the town. Secondly, the mayors of these towns are not nobles and do not have the same kind of near absolute power over the citizens. If they act badly enough the townspeople can and will revolt, and likewise pissing off neighbouring towns with something like this would also just lead to war.

>it's not happening to me, or my kids, while I'm alive, maybe, maybe
>lese majeste is something basic "nobles" can do
>suck the gods off enough so they have mana to keep the walls of our 'not desert' at bay

I strongly suggest reading the LN. One major flaw of the anime is it brightens everything way up thematically. The LN is actually quite dark but a lot of the subject matter gets glossed over in the anime. I don't know how they are going to depict the Hasse resolution in the Anime as in the LN it's quite graphic.
>The reason why the temple (and all temples) carry such prejudice is because they are the defacto brothel for nobility.
>Rosemyne being raised in the temple "as an excuse" carries with it the implication that she would have been exposed to such operations
>The initial shock and push back of everyone not wanting her to be a grey priest is because grey priests are meant to be the playthings for blue priests and nobles.
>it's not so much "Slavery" as feudalism. Peasantry are viewed as owing their existence to nobility. In this world it's OBJECTIVELY true - but the lore behind it comes much later. Not a major spoiler but a spoiler none the less
The entire kingdom is being held up and is functioning by the mana the nobility pours into their respective region's source(s). There was recently a civil war (not revealed yet in the Anime) that caused a lot of technical issues with succession and the entire kingdom is bleeding mana and making up the difference isn't currently possible. If the mana dries up even the fertility of the land dries up. Everyone will eventually starve and die if nothing changes. There is far more to it but read the LN! - it's worth your time.
In addition the Anime is no longer adapting the LN, now they are straight up abridging it to the point of quality degradation. I'd argue it's no longer the same story. What the anime now is is simple "Snapshots" of the story as a whole and it will continue to get worse. The anime is still in the narrow scope of the Light novel but the "narrative world" is eventually going to grow 3 to 4 times the size being depicted currently.

Full series deep spoilers, albeit sporadic

The OP of the season has the line "Paint it in your light" the phrase "Paint me in your colors" canonically is a very suggestive phrase in-universe - Which Ferdinand already has done to Myne/Rosemyne. Essentially "Cumming in you magically."
"Deep lore" time. Prospective reproductive pairings among nobility need to have roughly the same mana level. When they match in level the prospective father needs to "paint" the mother's mana with his colors/affinities until they align and then they physically can get together to reproduce.
Myne isn't actually all colors like the Anime and the early LN imply, she actually has NO color, she is an empty vessel. Her "All colors/affinities actually comes from when Ferdinand invaded her thoughts to see if she was a threat, the process is dying the other person with your affinities just like courtship.
This gets revealed in later grander plots as things unfold.
At the Academy the equivlent to "going to second or third base" is to let your crush "Dye you a little"
A proposal gift from a guy has is a gem with his colors that the girl is supposed to wear against her skin so she can start the process early.
But for now, understand Ferdinand literally Magically drugged and roofied Myne to make her magic more vulnerable then proceeded to magically cum in her in a back room with a thought raping device where the first thing he viewed of her memories was her naked in a tub.
If you think all of this is just happenstance by accident it actually gets even more in depth in the mechanics and lore.
Certain characters later get made fun of because they cannot "magically get it up" enough to be paired with Rosemyne. It becomes a fucking plot point. "mana sense" being able to tell who you are "allowed" to be attracted to or not. etc. The person Rosemyne first senses with this thing that activates at puberty is Ferdinand.
>>

Honestly, I really enjoy the story. It has amazing world building and fantastic character development. For me at least I've read a lot of literature and if you think this is the first author to inject their fetishes secretly into a work, even meant for children... let me tell you about the rape scene in lord of the flies you never realized was there.
The killing of the pig was for all intents and purposes a rape scene, a gang rape scene.
But an absolute bonus for me is the fact that the story is so fucking degenerate in plain sight. It's a masterstroke in trolling and secret bean flicking.
She's one sick puppy and I can only bow in respect for all the naive rubes that are trying to preserve Myne's innocence.
It's like watching a simp who thinks their crush is virginal learning that they have been banging the entirety of the football team all semester long with a goofy look on their face not realizing the faux pas.

It's more because they showed signs of rebellion. That was the sin, that they would consider rebelling. The Anime frames it wrong. The emphasis in the LN is that everyone "knows" the white buildings are functionally the property of royalty. The Anime messed up making the "longhouse" look too aristocratic. in the LN it is far more run down and dirty and while I don't recall the precise description while reading I imagined it made with all bare wood and the rest of the town being shoddy houses/huts. The Anime depicts Hesse wrong and as a result, visually there isn't much of a distinction between the monastery and the rest of the town. The only thing white anywhere near Hesse was the Monastery. The rest of the buildings were supposed to be shit.

What is this power scaling. Gervasio has more mana than both Ferdinand and Myne, but he can sense them. Myne has a little more than Ferdinand. But either way both myne and Ferdinand are like the average of zent's of the past. Gervasio above average for his capacity. Neither are so OP they can solo anything. If you really want to find someone than look for the gods since they are truly the only powerful beings.
>>
>>288422327
Their fight was basically a draw. Neither could really hurt one another. But Ferdinand's scheming is the main reason he is the most dangerous person in the country. Together with his capacity. The gods, dunk's aub, and egg find him scary
>>
>>288422357
The thing, with the state of Yurgenschmidt's royalty, they stand far above everyone. Myne solos the sovereignty's knight order, so hypothetically, what could have stopped her if she wanted to take down the entirety Yurg? Nothing, unless the duchies were all able to immediately coordinate in some way and formulate a plan.
>>
>>288422405
The only universe where she is capable of that is if she has Ferdinand by her side. You do know that she loses vs Gervasio is Ferdinand dies in Ahrensbach before she can save him. That is the bad end. Myne is a supporter not an actual fighter. You are treating her like Ferdinand.
>>
Rozemyne's first time?!
>>
>>288422433
>You do know that she loses vs [the only other guy that was mentioned to be extremely OP]
I don't know why you make this kind of argument when he is one of the two I already said could pull off a solo the country type of feat. Non-goddess mana Myne loses against Gervasio because she isn't a fighter, that's correct.
>>
>>288421142
Finally time to get Myne's child labor industry in full swing
>>
>>288422405
Myne is easily stopped by simply grabbing anyone she cares about and telling her to give up or they will be raped and killed. Done. Myne isn't some OP sociopath. She is a very very mentally vulnerable mana battery... unless you threaten her books. It's harder to believable groom a shrewd person afterall.
>>
>>288422481
Myne doesn't have any such people in the past, though. And again, it's just a hypothetical scenario. It's not like the goddess of time would allow her to harm anyone to begin with.
>>
>>288422467
But that guy loses to the guy I called the most OP? Which is obviously Ferdinand and always has been. But even he can't solo shit
>>
>>288422454
The funny thing is that in THIS instance the Anime is far more suggestive than the source material. The production crew has having a field day with this week's episode and it tells me at least the principle director and story board artist have read the whole series. OP also suggest as much with little hints at deep late story lore/foreshadowing.

How is that cheating? Scheming is literally a part of winning and losing. The fuck are you on about. That is the main reason people consider Ferdinand the most dangerous person in the country. His and Rozemyne's negligent mana difference is irrelevant. And Gervasio large mana capacity, but he is shit at using it.
>>
>>288422570
if it's any consolation that whole diatribe is background windowdressing and isn't the main point of the story. Even to stitch it all together you need to reference 5 or 6 different chapters/volumes that aren't directly connected to each other. It's a tapestry that only gets stitched together if you choose to. But it's undeniably there and it's undeniably on purpose by the author.
Last volumes spoiler hence why the after the fact desu ex machina ambiguous age up segment so he isn't literally marrying a grade schooler
>>
>>288422625
He exploited the one weakness Gervasio had, and that was his medal still being in the Zent's hands. Let's not pretend like this was just some generic scheme and he lost because he slipped on a banana peel.
>And Gervasio large mana capacity, but he is shit at using it.
That it is factually incorrect. He doesn't have blessings, but his ability to use mana in combat was even above Ferdinand's.
>>
>>288422562

>>
>>288422663
You're just strawmanning now. Information is a skill in combat, the one who knows more will likely win. That is why Ferdinand found the loophole and acted upon it.

>That it is factually incorrect. He doesn't have blessings, but his ability to use mana in combat was even above Ferdinand's.

You are literally just yapping now, all Gervasio did was send big raw mana wave and try to suppress him with his mana. He was absolutely shit at fighting since it was just unrefined mana attacks from his big capacity. Reread that entire fight. He was used to manipulating mana because that is life and death in Lanzaeve. But he had no actual education on how yurgen nobles actually fight, so it was just raw mana attacks.

I guess I was larping, I do not remember it being so bad. To me, Gervasio was just being overconfident, and that is what got him in.

Either way, I stand behind my point, no character can solo the verse, this mana power scaling makes no sense, when gods are real. And lets talk about why Gervasio was able to get so close in the first place. Yurgen literally offed itself with a civil war. The royal family has like one family, the other surviving members are likely distant family in other duchies that truly have nothing to do with them anymore. They have a traitor in their ranks to no fault of Traqueal, but because of something the previous Zent did. Gerogine also has nothing to do with royals, but Ahrensbach and the country almost got destroyed because of her hatred for Sylvester.

Gervasio is "skilled" at brute forcing things with his superior mana, which is almost an oxymoron. He's worse at everything else when it comes to being a noble, which is why Ferdinand knowledge/experience-checked him so hard.
>>
>>288423176
Not him but - if we are speaking on broad terms "firstly" the gods are real but in a very arms length sense.

They don't seem to care about the survivial of the people or who survives or who rules, that's inconsequential to them. They only care about the preservation of and continued survival of Yurgenschmidt as a land. Citing or referencing the gods is little better than citing gravity.
Technically speaking, if the gods were aware of all the facts they would prefer Gervasio and the Lanzaeve nobility too fully usurp and supplant the current nobility of Yurgenshmidt who have become complacent, lazy and relatively weak.
I know thematically Gervasio is the "big bad" but that's only from the perspective of, presumably, Rosemyne's interests/the reader's point of view, that and "our" sense of "invader = bad guy"
The story told to the gods about the situation was very specifically framed and curated.
>>
>>288422467
But he failed? So on what basis is he capable of that?
>>
>>288421921
Take a good look at real life.
>>
>>288423350
He BARELY failed and had only one point of very narrow vulnerability that Ferdinand barely exploited in time.
He failed on a "Technicality".
If he were friendly non antagnoistic and wanted the best for Rosemyne, Ferdidnand and the current people of Yurgenschmidt, he'd be an ideal Zent, one that, if his intentions were 100% true and Ferdinand could 100% confirm would likely embrace and engineer to come to fruition at great effort.
He's technically the "perfect option" they were looking for if their their ideals aligned and the respect and protectiveness was as much local as foreign.

It's simply because he's painted with the villain aura brush that the reader is prompted to view him that way, but objectively speaking, outside of personal allegiances and interests on the "Rosemyne's view of the world" level he was ideal as a Zent, more than ideal. Technically speaking he was deus ex machina levels of ideal.

Hell, one could argue that in the long run Yurgenshmidt might have been better off with him if parties could have negotiated and come to terms more calmly. It wouldn't have taken much at all.
Correct me if I'm forgetting something, but what would have been the issue with Gervasio marrying into the royal family - presuming his attitude and the "bad guy aura" checkbox were switched off?

Ferdinand chose to not protect himself to show that he meant no harm.

Eglantine explains why the Lanzenavians wouldn't be better.

>Erwaermen did as instructed, and the rest of his paralysis faded. “Hmm... Indeed, I can move again. I am shocked that Quinta came here with such dangerous weapons.”
>“It was Gervasio who brought them into Yurgenschmidt,” I reported. “He used the poison on Ahrensbach and Sovereign nobles. But rather than paralyze them, it turned them into feystones in an instant.”
>“I agree that it was dangerous—psychotic, even—for Lord Ferdinand to use instant-death poison against you, but he is right that we could not allow Gervasio to become the Zent. Yurgenschmidt would have seen chaos and war on an unprecedented scale.”
>“So those are the circumstances of the world of men...” Erwaermen said.
Basically the Lanzenavians are even more ruthless than the existing royal family and see everyone else just as feystones/sources of mana. They purged Ahrensbach so hard that the entire duchy would've collapsed if it wasn't for Myne using her goddess mana to save it.

I am not denying that. After all, Ferdinand understood that the entire time, and that is why he won.

My point is entirely about this solo-ed-the-verse nonsense that is clearly not possible in that world. Ferdinand is the most capable character in that world. But even he would be unable to usurp the royal family simply for not having enough backing to overthrow them and rule.

The same way Gervasio has a big capacity. But the only reason he got so far, is because he had help from Georgine(whose entire agenda was Ehrenfest) and Raublut whose entire agenda was revenge to the royal family for the princess he was supposed to marry. It is disrespectful to bookworm's world to claim this dumb isekai tropes of soloing the verse.

I get those points but they all fall under the "antagonist" brush. As far as "human resources" go that was an adaptation to living beyond the border, the mindset was. Correct me if I'm wrong but it was either that or extinction?
Doesn't the need for that barbarity vanish once inside Yurgenshmidt?

to use an analogy

Sam Kinison: "Move them to where the water is."

Eglantine's was just assertions.
I'm not insisting this should be the way of things but on a structural level I don't see the incompatibility.

There are reasons for it and she eventually grows and relatively soon she learns why she is still a runt and starts the process to fix that, although it will be some time yet. The story is actually better this way as her lack of growth is explored on many levels to some great narrative depth, impact and payoff.

I don't see your logic, no matter how you spin it, he lost. So in canon, he clearly is not strong enough to accomplish that, no matter how unfair his defeat was. A loser is a loser.

You're assuming a whole lot about him from one single pov chapter. Lanzaeve has shown how they see nobles only as batteries. So sorry, Egg's point of view on why they would be bad is a lot more believable to me than your cope.
>>

>"It was only natural that we Yurgenschmidt nobles felt wary of the Lanzenavians, who had resorted to such lethal means without hesitation."
Do you think it's possible to peacefully coexist with people who will instantly kill you without negotiating? Lanzenave's cutthroat culture is fundamentally incompatible with Yurgensmidt's. This is something that would've required multiple generations of genuine attempts at assimilation to fix, but the current generation is evil and they've already antagonized everyone.

>>288423881
The first two seasons are a good onboarding primer for the principle story.
Season 3 and all seasons going forward aren't nearly as good as the LN as they have been cutting more and more of the story. It's no longer an adaptation at this point and more a video summary that's missing anywhere between 1/3rd and 2/3rds of context and what's going on. And it will only get "worse" from here if Season 3 is anything to go on.
The light novel is popular for a reason, it's an amazing work that you should look into getting into if the first two seasons of the anime entertain you.

He lost the moment the gods accepted the bet. From that moment on, there were only two options. He either loses his divine will or he turns to stone to die. Anastasius and potentially Ferdinand would get the divine punishment for breaking the rules, but that is it.

He lost, it is what it is.
>>
>>288423891
Commoners aren't people.
Purely from a religious viewpoint, Gervasio is more capable than the current royal family, but his political incompatibility means countless nobles will die. Even the royal family realizes how badly the civil war and purge fucked up the country. An even more ruthless royal family starting another one would be the nail in the coffin.

>>288423977
I wasn't speaking politically
I very specifically meant from the perspective of the gods.
Politically and as far as human vs human, yeah, he was a piece of shit, but that wasn't the thought exercise.
Ideally -from the interests of the GODS - he is ideal - and the framing of his misdeeds omitted the local Yurgenshmidt's failings.

Narratively, from the human level I'm glad he lost of course, but the aregument that he'd be a bad zent doesn't hold water. He would be a bad zent for CURRENT nobility, but Nobles are to the zent as peasants are to nobility.

It's inconsistent to make exceptions if we are arguing from the perspective and interests of Gods who could care less either way and only care about results.
>>
>>288424038
The point is that the two are connected. Killing nobles is against the wishes of the gods, not because killing is morally wrong but because the country will turn to sand if they lose any more nobles.
>>
>>288424038
And I forgot this point.

Buy the Royal family is scum upon scum. all of them are horrible, present and past. The current crisis was a stead stacking of more control over legacy literally because of growing incompetence.
It got so bad because the royal family harnessed more and more control/centralized power to compensate for their incompetence because they didn't want to compete openly. Which was against the intention of the gods and how the system was set up in the first place.

I get the story, as part of the resolution rectified that - But ironically had Rosemyne not been there with her very specific set of quirks, viewpoints and power THE ONLY SOLUTION would have been to let Gervasio do his thing, no, it would have been the inevitable end point. Unless Ferdidnand himself became Zent, (he wouldn't he likely would have died before then). Only reason why Gervasio didn't end up the only option is because Rosemyne existed.
>>
>>288424140
>all of them are horrible, present and past
To be fair, the present royals didn't even know that there was a "true" path to becoming Zent. Trauerqual was quick to concede the throne to either Ferdinand or Myne when he found out.
>>
Myne armpits! prpr
>>
>>288424140
You really sound like a Gervasio fanboy. I don't think the royal family is angels or anything. But didn't the book openly say that the reason for its creation was well-intentioned at first, because zent successions were bloody. Obviously it was pretty arrogant to expect your descendants won't lose their way eventually. But this propaganda of all royals = bad is crazy since you are trying to present Gervasio and Lanzeve in a positive light. Also, nope, without Rozemyne, Gervasio does not know anything about how to get the book. So Yurgen is likely gonna turn into sand, if Rozemyne is not there. Gervasio is never the only option at any point, the most likely thing is a reweave by the gods or something.

>>
>>288424378
I'm actually not. As a whole I'm happy with the story, how it concluded, nearly everything.
It's just a thought experiment and so far no one has refuted the proposition without either using "He got locked in a bank vault" as a reason why he'd be a bad mayor or because he was a "bad guy" says the rapist murdering coercive blackmailer.

Kidnapping, forced marriage, rape, constant coercion, blackmail, threats to life, threats to life of family.

That's just some of what Rosemyne has to personally deal with from the people who are on "her side." Not her enemies, not antagonists, her "allies." And that's fine, that's how the world is crafted and painted. It's an interesting world.
It's just comical when readers then point at Gervasio with a finger filled with righteous indignation and cry "immoral."
I'm saying "instead of selectively stripping away some morals, strip away all morals and interests and only think about the interests of the gods - what would be the ideal? What would achieve the best end results?" And I don't see the problem with Gervasio taking over, bringing his people, purging the REBELLION (good for the goose, good for the gander) and settling with the rest of the useful locals if the purpose is optimal results as it pertains to the gods.
That's the thought exercise and so far all refutations have either been "but he got locked in a bank vault with Bruce Wayne therefore he'd be a shit mayor"
or
"He's a bad guy, he kills innocent people"
Said by the people defending those who regularly kill innocent people

The current royal family is religiously incompetent but are at least trying to keep the country intact. Lanzenave killed half the nobles of an already collapsing Ahrensbach because "they weren't on our side lol". Killing all your opposition is politically bad AND religiously bad because the country relies on mana to exist. Gervasio's violent invasion is what would make him a terrible Zent. He is prioritizing his own people over Yurgenschmidt's when the country already has a severe noble shortage.
>>
>>288424675
I didn't ignore it. An image I posted got banned for not being anime related, no idea which. The reply got hiccuped so I had to start over while juggling other replies. Give me a sec.

An invasion that would be bringing in NEW noble blood. As per the world and story mana rates have been dropping and the recent civil war did far more damage than Gerivasio's invasion did.
It's also hilarious to cry "no more killing" as a justification after Yurgenschmidt own brutal civil war. So it's a new rule? No more purges, no more killing? Did the gods say so? Neat Does Gerivasio know? If told would he agree? Likely. Again, this is that finger of righteous indignation covered in blood (civil war) pointing at in an invader and saying "no more killing, killing is bad."
I get he's painted as the "bad" option but it's mainly from the "he's against us" perspective, not the "he's incompetent" perspective.
Yurgenschmidt has been failing due to incompetence, not because of murders of nobility. If the ZENT existed there wouldn't be as many issues, and if the ZENT had a shit ton of mana themselves there would be even fewer issues. - as it concerns the gods.
Also, unless they are full of shit nobility would instantly fall in line and obey if he became ZENT, at least that's what the story heavily implies during Rosemyne's altar walking arc. And if they are full of shit and actually wouldn't follow whoever became zent then all the more reason to purge them. Why? Because nothing would get fixed if the same rot continues.
Mind you I'm playing devils advocate a bit and speaking in broad strokes.
It comes down to how much of the story, in this "what if" is impacted by political machinations and how much of it is based on the "rules" we've already been told. Like instant obeying of the true Zent.
I didn't mean for your response to get skipped.
>>
>>288424889
Lanzenave barely has anyone with mana but that's besides the point. Gervasio is a bad Zent candidate because he's doing all this killing before the country has even recovered from the previous civil war. It's not a matter of whataboutism or who caused more deaths. A good Zent would prioritize the well-being of the country. Gervasio prioritizes his Lanzenave supporters while killing thousands of nobles in the process.

pretty much, but it does bear mentioning that Ferdinand's full dying of her was an accident caused by the mana crystals that formed in her body from all the times she almost died. normally the dying would pass shortly after the mind reading, but Ferdinand's mana got stored in her mana crystals and so she basically lived with one of those "engagement gifts" in her heart for most of the story.

Slavery was normal for the vast majority of human history and practiced by virtually every major civilization. It's only fairly recently it's become "evil" rather than a brutal fact of life. That it wasn't intentional should be self evident even to anime onlies as the context has already been revealed - what hasn't been revealed is that the only one ignorant to any of the connotations of what was "accidentally" going on was Rosemyne. Ferdinand, the god of his academy years in competency would fully be aware, crystals or not. The only thing I'd give him is that he wouldn't be aware that she is an empty vessel due to her death/rebirth at the beginning of the story. Beyond that all the innuendo and connotation are well within his scope of knowledge. He knows, he just doesn't care. Same with the protection accessories, he knows, he just doesn't care about what other people think. So there is some subtext to him constantly "knowing" but "pretending to not care" - as his personality is revealed to Rosemyne and the reader in later and later volumes - He is more likely "not caring" as a form of lying to himself and "not knowing" is never and option.
It's fine, It's a fun little puzzle between the lines. But as a reader you aren't supposed to be ignorant to it. The intended reader's knowledge/point of view and interpretation is roughly supposed to be the same as the "all knowing Elvira" What Elvira interprets as the reality of what's going on the author intends for the reader to adopt and the two character (Ferdidnand and Rosemyne) get to play two oblivious would-bes. The Book series Elvira is writing is supposed to a small message board from the author to the readers in-universe telling the audience "view this this way as this is my intention."
If that and the "bait and switch" excerpt trick at the final Italian Restaurant dinner/goodbye wasn't a bright enough neon sign to say "yes, this is happening and yes you are supposed to pay attention from this point of view." Then I have no idea what to tell you as a reader. (not addressing you specifically, just readers in general)

>>288427585
>>And there have been people in every one of those eras that knew full well how evil slavery was.
No not really. You might have the odd philosopher or somebody saying it's bad, but there'd be far more idealists insisting slavery was a part of the natural order. And it was. Most slaves before the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade were prisoners of war, and their status wasn't necessarily for life. Rome, for example, had a whole class of citizens known as "Freedmen", because they were former slaves who earned their manumission through work. They even had a holiday celebrating freedmen, and it was common during other major celebrations for some slaves to be granted manumission as an act of charity. Of course, the Romans did also use slaves for extremely hard labor, on rural plantations or toiling in mines, but when 20% of your population is slaves, there's going to be a lot of variety in their employment and status. Some slaves were positively pampered and lived better lives than most citizens.

Not even the west actually stopped, they just forbid chattel slavery and slave trading. The US, for example, uses its massive prison population as slave labor, which is something the 13th amendment specifically made an exemption for when it abolished slavery in the United States. They don't come out and call it slave labor, but by the Amendment's own wording, it is.

It's a blink and you miss it scene, it comes before we the reader learn what mana sense is. It's the scene where she notices Ferdinand's mana feels the same as hers when she is checking for traps and being taught for the first time to spread out her mana in her Catherdral study - iirc. If there is a time before this I don't remember it. IIRC the scene she notes that she cannot sense anyone else's mana. And we learn later to even be able to sense someone else's personal mana on them they have to be close to your level and the only one close to Rosemynes until she meets royalty is Ferdidnands. The purpose was to search for forign mana on a trap/object, but she "incidentally" "magically checked Ferdinand out."

If I missed something correct me. I don't recall who you are referring to before this scene.
>>
>>288427964
Romans also had child sex slaves, as many accounts of Roman emperors can attest to. Slavery in this series actually seems a lot less prevalent than in Roman society, with most of the commoner population being free people, compared to Rome having about a fifth of its population as slaves. But considering that even free commoners live very hard lives, without even the limited protections of Rome's plebeian free people, the nobility probably don't see a very large distinction between a free commoner and a slave. They could easily turn one into the other on a whim.

Yeah, she sensed Ferdinand volumes before then. She very specifically sensed that it was similar and mentally remarked on it. This was happening during the raid to get her key/bible.

Anon this is not mana sensing. What she feels is the fact that their mana is completely synchronized but it's fundamentally the same kind of detection as with the other people there.

She was super retarded this episode...
>>
>>288427530
How can justice be evil, it can't.
>>
>>288429473
She's just ignorant about the new society she lives in because nobody's really sat down to explain it to her. She comes across as so intelligent ordinarily, it didn't occur to anybody she knows basically nothing about their society. Her own lack of interest beyond what she needs to make books isn't helping matters, but really, Ferdinand should've realized sooner that Myne is shockingly ignorant about how things work in that world.
>>
>>288429764
She is an educated retard which makes her seem smart on occasion compared to people with no education, but she has always been retarded.
>>
>>288429808
Myne is clever and insightful, she's just not used to having power or society-level responsibility. She comes across as a highly educated noble (Ferdinand said as much) but has none of the social background such a person would have even in our own world, let alone theirs, which is far more stratified and ruthless.
>>
>>288429861
Her not seeking out the missing information on her own is a great example, how is that supposed to be clever? Do you not understand the difference between intelligence and knowledge?
>>

For this season? They're clearly doing the entirety of P3. As for the rest? Never say never. I'm sure we will at least get half of P4. Can't have the adaptation end before getting to hogwarts.
>>
>>288429958
>Do you not understand the difference between intelligence and knowledge?
An ironic thing to say, since you are conflating ignorance with stupidity. Myne's already demonstrated her cleverness many times, just in her resourcefulness and ability to apply her knowledge in creative ways to her own benefit.

Myne's main flaw has always been her monomania, her obsessive fixation on books. Why would she devote time to learning trivia that was outside her special interest, if it didn't immediately advance her personal goals regarding books? She only ever learned what she needed to about her current society to get by. She only knew the basics of how to deal with nobles as a commoner, but never had anybody teach her how to be a noble because it wasn't relevant to either her life as a commoner or her ambitions regarding books.

And it was never her plan to become a noble, and once that change in status happened Ferdinand took over her education to prepare her for life as a noble. This mostly covered things like etiquette as the daughter of the Archduke, and important rituals as High Bishop, because he fell into the same trap as everybody else, in assuming that she was more generally knowledgeable than she was, about society.

But at what point should she have started "seeking out missing information"? It wouldn't have ever occurred to her before she became a noble, and after, she would have just assumed that Ferdinand and her other tutors were giving her all the important stuff. Why would she assume that they were omitting extremely important, fundamental things? She'd have no reason to believe this.
>>
>>288430135
I made no such conflation, I am saying this isn't how a clever person behaves.
>She only ever get learned

>they are not gonna adapt the whole thing are they?

I would not be so sure. If there is an isekai with a likely chance of getting a full adaptation, it's Bookworm(MT maybe the other one). After all, the publisher being TOBooks and Bookworm being its flagship series certainly makes a full adaptation a real possibility.

If Bookworm was Kadokawa, I would agree with you, since some other series would be more popular. And they have so many lns to choose from. While TOBooks have made like maybe 2-3 other lns adaptations, none are close to Bookworm in popularity.

Bookworm's merch also does well since it is mainly adults reading this.

Anon, the slavery thing was known years before the WC even started with multiples reports from various official organizations, including the UN themselves and in the months before the actual start of the WC, several countries, including major players like Germany, threatened to boycott the whole thing.
Only one country actually did it and it was a literally who country.
No one actually knew at the time if the WC was going to be good but millions of people from all over the world still went there.
It gets even funnier when the WC properly started: the medias and politicians of my country who were virtue signalling about how slavery is bad memoryholed the whole thing and started shilling LGBT rights instead, and our minister even filmed herself smugling a LGBT flag and tshirt into the country while ignoring entirely the slave issue during the whole event despite threatening to not come in the months before the event.
So yeah, LGBT is clearly more important than slavery at least in my country, I don't know if it's the same in yours.

nta but nah man the micromanaging of resources and time and money in part 1 was great. Myne and Lutz would be spending weeks figuring out how to get a spare metal pot. Myne thinking on her feet when interacting with Benno for the first few times was great.

Even without draft animals, you would still organize your rows to be as long as possible. It saves a ton of time even if you just are using human labor.
Having a bunch of random angles and grass lawns is also really strange. Crop rotation is a thing, and using some kind of cover crop is fine, but that's clearly not what they're doing here. Also why are there trees in some of the plots? You'd chop those down and rip out the roots. The most basic thing in the world is clearing your land before you make it a farm. Do they not know that crops need sunlight?
That looks completely haphazard without anyone even attempting to make it look like real farmland. A farmer is going to prepare and improve the land as much as possible, and plan out each plot to be as efficient as possible.
>>
>>288434544

One thing I've always wondered is why Rozemyne is being marketed as a "saint" for uplifting the orphans in a society where there is no such concept of charity and alms for the needy being a positive, let alone godly act. If anything by their standards her behaviour should net her the title of clown of ehrenfest.
>>
>>288434820
I think they still believe in charity, but it’s also visible that Myne is getting good labor out of this too. She’s just treating them well which the past guy didn’t do, and probably better than most would bother to.
>>
For all the complaints about the pacing I just looked up the light novel chapters, and the first 6 episodes of the season were part 3 vol 1, only ep 7 and 8 so far have been part 3 vol 2, and theyve covered 6 out of 17 chapters (+2 side chapters). At the pace they're going, they won't be able to adapt all of part 3, we've only got ~16 episodes left. They're either going to have to cut some stuff or pick up the pacing for a couple of the volumes by an episode or so
>>
>>288434898
actually thinking about it, they did a pretty significant cut in this episode, basically all the stuff about the orphans and how they're adapting to the new environment was cut into a 'oh her speech is better' and a 'im happy my sister cant be stolen'
They'll need to do a good chunk of those, I could see the winter socializing being a part where they cut and only show the interactions with hartmut and brunhilde + philine
>>
>>288434820
I view it like someone taking care of strays. A kind act.
As for the Saint stuff... while the commoners may truly believe it, the nobles probably just think of it like flattery for the archduke's adopted daughter. At first, anyway. Later on they will realize she's the real thing, in more than one way.
>>
>>288434820
it's not just about the compassion for the orphans, that's just an aspect that they market. They're presenting her as a legitimate 'chosen by the gods' saintess, an actual religious figure in a world where magic and blessings do actually exist but religious aspects have been largely thrown to the way side
>>
>>288434971
That's later.
They're still building that up with her throwing large blessings left and right.

They're trying to give Rozemyne a position of actual importance in noble society. Her being the adoptive daughter of an aub is a BIG deal, so she needs to be basically perfect in the eyes of the public in order to not completely tank her and Sylvesters reputations.
>>

>>
>>288434820
'helping people' is still a known concept, its just seen as wholly unnecessary for commoners/orphans who, to nobles, are no different than stray cats.

Her being almost detrimentally kind to others and being so averse to violence and death are just PART of the saint persona, when coupled with the fact that they make up ways for those she saves to be productive and useful to society rather than just killing everyone off is what makes her really amazing (aside from her crazy blessing powers)

> Doesn't the need for that barbarity vanish once inside Yurgenshmidt?
Not really. Gervasio was the only real 'moderate' one among those who came to Yurgenshmidt, because he genuinely just wanted to live there. But Leonzio and most of the others still had the Lanzenavian mindset that the nobles of this land were only worth keeping as feystones, and wouldn't remotely hesitate to kill and harvest them. As long as the 'royals' of Lanzenave got to live happily and be treated like gods, they don't give a shit what happens to the rest of the magic users in Yurgenshmidt.
>>
How does Rozemyne respond without sounding mad? (Hint: Not the way she did.)

>>
>>288431998
Was it specifically Gervasio's rule that led to such advances in non-magic tech? Seems like all the Lanzenavian royal family actually did was keep the ivory buildings intact, which, as Ferdinand states, isn't really that vital to their city anymore since they've built out so much past that.

Seems as though technology had just been steadily improving the whole time, and with or without the royals support, it would've reached a point where the regular populace didn't really need mana users to be in charge anymore. Only real question IMO is how much feystones factor into how their society runs, as they were the main thing that the majority of merchants wanted in Lanzenave, we just don't know what they were really used for.
>>
>>288431998
I'd say it balances out since while we do lose Myne having to scrape by as the underdog, she conversely has to learn how to function as someone with a LOT of influence/political power in a society she still barely understands. Part 3 is full of shit like that, even though its mainly focused on the absolute shit-show of Hasse and Rozemynes awful misunderstanding of her actions there.

Doesn't help that most of the people she interacts with are either married, or children (by her POV), or Ferdinand, who she see's more as a bickering-platonic-family way rather than a romantic interest, at least until the later bits of part 5 where he actively starts courting her + everyone points out how obviously close they are.

She's just kinda shit at noticing these things, but the author said that Rozemyne does properly grow to reciprocate Ferdinands feelings in time, and we see bits of that progress in Hannelore's spin off too.

Never ever. Myne already came to the understanding that she can't take responsibility for every poor bastard she comes across, and if she IS gonna help someone, she needs to make it worthwhile for her or those around her. As we saw with her idea to use Taue fruits to help identify those with the devouring/keep them from dying, its just not feasible on a larger scale + bad actors would absolutely take advantage of it.

Also even without all of that, commoners are completely reliant on nobles to be able to live. Without them the land will become barren and lifeless and they'll all starve to death.

Myne is not ambitious or witty enough to even do a revolution. Even at the end of the series she still doesn't have the wit to pull it off
However I'm sure the policies she implements in her lifetime will narrow the gap between nobles and commoners so it's closer to Illgner rather than Groschel. It may also narrow the gaps within the nobility.
Actually, hmmm. Currently meritocracy is used to look down on the laynobles who have less access to instruments and tutors. When Myne makes this more equitable, will the nobility just switch to a more blatant form of discrimination and abandon the veneer of meritocracy?
>>
>>288439123
hence why their world was doomed. invention of books will bring in some wisdom into their world and maybe their society will stabilize a little.
>>
>>288439183
I don't know what you mean by meritocracy when the main reason that laynobles suffer is their lack of mana. They need to spend tons of money on magic tools just to be able to absorb their divine will and don't have the same output as scholars as an archnoble, and are obviously weaker than mednoble or archnoble knights 99% of the time. General education and deskwork are only a very minor part of noble society.

Lol, no. Yurg literally exists because one of the gods felt guilty about what happened to another, so he descended to earth, blessed a tribe with magic so they could power yurg's foundation, keep the god alive and prevent another god from stealing all the mana. Without the nobles, yurg disappears and all that's left is manaless savages scraping by in a desert.
>>
>>288440136
Serious answer:
It's not explicitly stated but there is an upper-bound limit to the power/impact she can produce in any one of her spells. It comes up from time to time in fights.
Also, from what I recall general chemical compositions and reactions outside the major affinities associated with the gods aren't possible. If she were to imagine "mustatard gas" and she knew the actual chemical composition, if something were to manifest it would just be a general cloud of mana.
Small generalist spoiler:
There is an arc or two where she and a few others specifically research the inner "physics" workings of magic, magic paper, dye and how they relate to affinities. In the end what you can do with magic in this world is actually quite limited. Myne's imagination and what it generates is limited to form and some function but composition, chemical composition is out of her hands.
There is an additional addendum to power levels in magic but that's directly tied to the tools of the gods and so function is limited to a pre-determined form that Myne has no input on. In the story these tools are viewed as the pinnacle of refined magical power. There is no mustard gas cape.

Major generalist spoiler on the aforementioned tools, Do not read if you are interested in discovery through the story on your own:
The strongest of the tools, offensively, defensively or in Utility border on the lines of blasphemous and forbidden as their existence greatly disturbs the current power balance both politically and martially. To use them is a great political risk and if Myne were to go murder hobo with them the world would band together against her rather quickly and she would lose. She's powerful but vulnerable and she's not omnipotent. 3 top nobles who were serious about killing her could likely manage it on their own. A squad of of knights if their orders were to take her down would have little problem doing so.
>>
>>288440257
People with mana exist before Erwaermen descended, they're literally Ewigeliebe and Geduldh's children.
Erwaermen rebelled when Ewigeliebe about to kill Mestionora, then (probably) after putting the seal in place and renouncing his divinity, he saw people (mana-users) hiding inside white building to escape Ewigeliebe's wrath, then he decided to build a place for them in Yogurtland.
...I think it's in one of WN's SS chapters.

>>
>>288434672
I dont think anyone had real expectations from the temple beyond make sure there's a harvest next year. The prestige of the church has waned significantly(to everyone's detriment).
>>
>>288440331
No, it's a doomed timeline because Rozemyne will die and since she immediately went to kill Gervasio from the start, Ehrenfest had to deal with Georgine and co. alone.
>>
>>288436713
Toss the little shit in the tower
>>
>>288440331
NTA but good point, one I wanted to make myself
If Ferdinand were dead/not in the picture Myne would either have died according to the Frieda's suggested timeline after she gifts her the ring or she would be discovered in time and become a noble's second wife/mistress/plaything. but considering how much mana Myne actually has she wouldn't match with anyone in Ehrenfest so I'm not sure if a lower/middle noble would want her.
Technically speaking Myne's survival is directly tied to her matriculation into noble society, without that she dies a half a dozen different ways with time.
Presuming no written in luck. One thing I always thought was underdeveloped in the story was the Tau fruit use. If Myne figured out Tau fruit could stand in for magic draining she might be able to get along just being an unsung commoner, maybe a merchant's wife. But.
Myne would be on a massive clock anyway as Ferdinand seemed to be the only person with the aptitude and knowledge to treat her condition. So she likely wouldn't have recovered from her crippled underdeveloped state. There wouldn't be a lot of options for her.
As for Ehrenfest, as we learn later, it and the surrounding territories are in a state of severe decline. Without Ferdinand you likely do not get Myne to help out and without both Ehrenfest falls to every single plot set against it., again, unless "another plot is purposely written in.
>>
>>288440406
Without Ferdinand, Sylvester dies from overwork since there's no one he can push his work on to.
Ironically, Willffried is probably better raised in this timeline since he would see his father work his ass off everyday.
>>
>>288440456

I think he would be forced to take a 2nd wife much earlier and there would be very little pressure from the outside for them to give up their human/mana resources. Ferdinand being there and later "the saint" gets used as an excuse as to why Ehrenfest should be stripped of some of its bounty politically. Without that bounty the argument falls on deaf ears and Ehrenfest is views no different than the rest of the bottom half of territories. The Georgina plots would do more damage though and sylvester would be especially vulnerable to intrigue.

But this is all a pretty extreme shift in timeline, one that removes the foundational core point of the story being told. "What would Star Wars be like without Luke and Darth Vader?"
>>
>>288436713

It's been a while but I recall the tone in the LN being different, possibly because of internal monologues. In either case her delivery/retorts weren't bratty. She didn't stoop to his level which frustrated him more. I think the Anime is thematically changing the dynamic to match Myne's visual design and presumed age and also to give a more dramatic performance for the voice actress to work with. The tone between the Anime and the books keep departing from each other.

Now that I think about it, the fertliser mana of nobles reminds me of hydraulic agrarian societies (egypt, iran, india, china) where farmers relied on centralised irrigation (which the state controlled), as opposed to europe where the farmers could just use the rain. (Some hypothesise that this is why Europe came out to be more libertarian and individualistic than these other cultures.)
I suppose that makes Bookworm sort of like a mix of both of these cultures? Bookworm is pretty bureaucratic. I wonder where the European facets appear.
Makes me excited to read more history. I wonder if Kazuki has disclosed all the books she read when planning Bookworm.

>I don't want a solution I want to be angry
As much as it's a meme it's also true.
It's one of the chief differences between the sexes. Men are goals and object oriented and women are emotion and people oriented.
When a man talks about his problems he's generally looking for a solution.
When a woman talks about her problems she is generally looking for sympathy.
Georgina wasn't looking for a solution or a resolution to the conflict, she was looking for an outlet for her emotional state.

Oh so this is the reason her common sense as a noble is so fucked up later on. Instead of saving the country, all she cares about are the people closest to her.
>>
>>288443841
i think she already came to believing that in japan
I think Myne's desire to save the mayor is more trying to avoid doing harm rather than save large swathes of people
If you aren't hurt because of Myne and you aren't known to Myne personally, she won't care about your suffering
>>
>>288443841
That's always been the only non-book thing she's cared about the most. Basically every major character in the cast points it out at least once that, while Rozemyne is charitable and kind, her main focus is always moreso on those she loves and considers family.

She's literally stated outright that she's willing to fight anyone in Yurgenshmidt, as well as the gods themselves, when it comes to protecting the ones she loves.

That being said, her general charity aside from that is not only a result of her skewed views, but also, as I said, the fact that she literally cannot enact big sweeping changes like that to help people because A) who's gonna pay the ludicrous amount of money it'd cost to finance? B) who's gonna enforce/support those changes? and C) who's gonna stop malicious actors (of which there are many) who would use her 'charity' and pervert its true purpose for their own desires/profit. Those same people very well may also just have Rozemyne assassinated to get her out of the way.

>agricultural collapse
the best way to accelerate that would be to execute the nobles
>>
>>288449214
yeah so why are nobles executing each other?
>>
>>288449135
>opinion sold in objective tone
sure anon sure.
>>288449096
yeah ehrenfest seems like a normal city. it's at the rare interfaces of noble and commoner that they do whatever the hell they want, buy slaves, rape for sex education, keep as mana batteries and what not.
magic contracts are also a huge concession.
>>
>>288449284
>do whatever the hell they want, buy slaves, rape for sex education
Are you implying that heimin wouldn't do the same if given the chance despite numerous historical examples IRL that show that they totally would?
>>
>>288448623
im not into isekais so i dont know how others compare but
>multistory buildings (out of wood mind you) but no sewage system.
>can build a whole fucking complex building with just some gold dust but cant do printing press/
>magic contracts exist but wars and civil conflicts are still happening
>trombos are in universe nukes but no one uses them as such?
and so on.... it seems like the entire world-building in this - like in most fiction - simply exists for authors convenience
>>
>>288449348
No, anon. Without nobles, commoners would live in perfect harmony. They definitely wouldn't have classes of their own based on how much money they have or something.
>>
>>288449423
All of your questions are covered for by the novels.

> Multistory buildings (out of wood mind you) but no sewage system.
there is a reason for this but its a spoiler

>can build a whole fucking complex building with just some gold dust but cant do printing press/

firstly that gold dust is not cheap and its created with blue prints of that complex building, on what basis would they even imagine something like a printing press

>magic contracts exist but wars and civil conflicts are still happening
you need to both parties to agree for a contract, and for the civil war you have no real information on it at this point, hell all you know is what a commoner like Benno knows.

>trombos are in universe nukes but no one uses them as such?
They are not nukes, they are darkness feybeast. Again in the story there is an example of somone using a darkness feybeast for something, but we are not there yet.
>>
>>288449599
In the first place, gold dust is completely unsuitable for any types of moving parts or mechanisms since buildings created this way need to be connected to the mana grid, otherwise they collapse back into dust. Entwickeln is powerful but equally limited.

I feel like more people should be weirded out by Myne's highbeast, because they have absolutely zero context for its design. They don't know what a car is, they don't know what a tanuki is, every part of this design is completely alien to them. It should be drawing massive amounts of attention anywhere she goes.
>>
>>288449673
>It should be drawing massive amounts of attention anywhere she goes.
It does.
>>
>>288449673
>they don't know what a tanuki is
It's a foolish grun.

power to make laws to protect your part of society is probably paid for in blood, but since heimins can't do shit without pocket sand and silver cloth, they're at mercy.
meanwhile nobles have much physical power, so they can allow themselves to act on compassion to a good degree if they wanted. it would be good even for their mentals.
basic privileges like contract magic are a good direction to take, main's ideas about improving sanitation in ehren were good, next steps could be to print some part of the truth about jurg like just how important mana and nobles are. or they could grant heimins a few more basic rights, like banning killing on a whim, some limited light to trial to defend themselves against baseless shit.
nobles wouldn't want heimins to grow too arrogant, but select rights would jump up their HDI, productivity, manners, smell in the city, the percentage of heimins who can work service jobs (cooking delicious cake for tea parties instead of toiling to weave clothes for the middle mass).
>>
>>288448438
nah she hasn't actually made a printing press yet
but she's already mostly there with movable type
But yeah the crafting is mostly done
Now instead Myne will move onto scaling up production and actually selling the books.

Eh I think it could be made equal. Suppose a duchy was implanted with liberal values:tm: and survived for 200 years. If the population of mana users grew from 1% of the population to 50%, then the relative importance of individual mana users would vastly diminish. The duchy would be able to easily service all its mana needs. Of course mana users would also need to be happy to seek mundane employment.

wait until she attacks a teacher with it

The great thing is how the clashing happens not only between Japan and Yurg, but also between commoner and merchant and merchant and noble and noble and giebe and ehrenfestian and dunkelfelgerian
There are tons of tiny little schisms

>Suppose a duchy was implanted with liberal values:tm: and survived for 200 years. If the population of mana users grew from 1% of the population to 50%
You've already lost me. I don't understand how one lead to the other.
>then the relative importance of individual mana users would vastly diminish
No, because there will be people with more mana and people with less mana. People with more mana are more powerful knights and more accomplished scholars, and also have even better blessings on virtue of being able to freely dedicate more mana. Also you don't even take into equation the issue of obtaining a schtappe and the resources that requires for someone with too little mana. There is a difference between a person with mana and a genuine noble.
>>
>>288449423
Do you really think +70% of the worldbuilding is construed? I'm personally willing to tolerate 10%, and I feel it's 5%.
>magic contracts exist but wars and civil conflicts are still happening
good point I suppose that trivialises tons of politics/game theory

List of invention spoilers.

You are forgetting the book sleeves that return books. The carousels. Spring steel/a spring steel mattress. Chaise lounge from said spring steel. Ferdinand's own bench from the design. Countless recipes. The music box-esque recording device. The authentication paper. The new divine weapon (water pistol). A new spell Copy and Place. A new dying technique. A new magic ink. And likely a few more I'm forgetting...Oh right, the hand water pump, Standardized paperwork, pie charts. Leaf spring suspension. All while being mandated to attend the Academy.

And this is over the span of, what another 4-6* years at this point? I'm sure once she left the academy towards the end of the principle series she never ever once again "invented" anything new or brought into the world inventions from the old for the rest of her life.

The story is a snapshot of her life, not the entire thing, and that snapshot is actually fairly bracketed in. A good quarter or so of the plot goes to her inventing new things once she gets into academy. Her main personal goal is a library. That goal is never forgotten. If it's an invention that doesn't contribute toward that goal she isn't that interested.

I'm likely forgetting some as there are so many really.

>>288450045
>1% of the population to 50%
You do realize that mana users can only reproduce with other ones roughly their own capacity, right? Unless you plan to sentence the trash tier users, like the blue priests, to breeding camps.
>>
>>288450092
>50% are mana users
Correct, the population bit is also another premise. I should have made that clearer.
I'm not sure how you could so rapidly increase mana users. Maybe develop a device that can transfer a consistent amount of a mana to a fetus?
>more mana less mana
I was thinking of a situation where 50% of the population had laynoble level mana.
Even if they don't get schtappes (I imagine the garden couldn't support that many), they could still dedicate their mana. If you make mana dedication a job then you could pay 50 laymages to displace one archmage. Hell maybe you could tax mana and collect it free of cost.

But I suppose you would need archknights still to tackle the dangerous feybeasts, and archscholars to do difficult blends. I think the gap here can be closed with technology, though.
Ultimately the main core issue of getting mana into the land is solved. Other problems can get ironed out.

A good refutation I think would be that very careful breedng is needed to preserve archmages. If so, then you would still have that inpenetrable clique at the top.
Also the other duchies won't sit back. But I suppose we're not considering the transitory period here.
>>
>>288450326
>If you make mana dedication a job then you
could pay 50 laymages to displace one archmage
You do realize that an archnoble doesn't just go around dumping mana into their duchy? In fact, I don't know any in the series that do this. What you're referring to is a blue priest's job, and being able to cover for their current logistical shortage isn't automatically going to lead to nobles being displaced.
>>
god damn it, i missed the thread
>>
>>288450268
Yes raising it would be a challenge and would require new technology/techniques to artificially increase the mana of babies
Actually, hmmm I suppose another refutation is that mana pregnancies are a lot more troublesome than mundane ones. Maybe the it is logistically impossible for a city to have that many mana pregnancies
>>
>>288450402
yeah it died quite quickly
>>288450393
getitng mana into tools and the land is the main responsibility that nobles have over commoners, no?
There is also feybeast subjugation and administration. The former would still require archknights but the latter can be done by commoners.
Brewing is a footnote and attending is unimportant.
>>
>>288450402
Keep an eye out for it the day of release of a new episode. Since we are 3 seasons deep "new blood" don't come in randomly as much so we get 1 or two that day of the week then have to wait for next week. It's still quite active though. There be a shit ton of spoilers here, so beware.
>>
>>288422558
>Kid
Mentally a middle aged woman.
>>
>>288450479
>getitng mana into tools and the land is the main responsibility that nobles have over commoners, no?
No. They work as knights, scholars or attendants if they aren't landowning nobles or hold a higher position. Nobles don't just dump mana, they do a lot more than that and it's tied to their education at the royal academy.
>>
>>288450510
what else do they do? I've read the full series and it's mostly just feybeast subjugation, brewing and administration (and foundation mana supplying the case of ADCs)
desu I feel the series doesn't really tackle what non-attendant nobles
>>
>>288450567
Then you might be due for a reread.
