Is anime & manga creatively bankrupt now? All I see is nostalgia being posted on the board.

Do you have a single fact to back that up?

It's not limited to anime and manga. Everything new is shit by default. Look at /tv/, /v/, /co/ or /fa/.
>>
>>288426374
This is because copying only leads you to be a shadow of what you're mimicking.
>>
>>288426374
At least those boards do focus on new stuff regardless and not just dwell in the past in a loop.
>>
>nooo you can't talk about the classics

>>
>>288426744
Ah yes, mentally ill eternal timeloop of regurgitating ''classics'' to the point of being just generals. /v/ at least doesn't have those.
>>
>>288426279
/a/ and 4chan in general is on life support. Most people left here are oldfags (but not even true oldfags, but ones who were newfag cancer a decade ago).
>>
>>288426279
Zoomers are too dumb to get past the new captcha.
Jokes aside try to post in incognito mode. They make you solve the cloudfare captcha + 5 very annoying 4chan captcha and if you try to register your email you have to go through it twice. If I was a new user I'd just close the tab and never come back here.

What's the formula to a good /a/ thread in your opinion?
>>
>>288427561
Yuno threads are good threads.
>>
>>288427561
Discussing an interesting series in an interesting way. Speculah, analysing details, effortposting.
Of course not every series can have threads like this; it needs to be a series that actually has stuff worth talking about, and the fanbase needs to hit a sweet spot between being large enough that the threads are not dead, but not big enough to drown the thread in shitposting from subhuman tourists.
>>
>>288427266
>too dumb to get past the new captcha

DUMB? That captcha is just tedious. I think the captcha filtered majority of the users. It killed 4chan
>>
>>288426920
ok so go back to /v/? You don't like it when people talk about anime, right?
>>
>>288427981

>>
>>288428104
How many captcha's must I solve before it gets better? Maybe people give up before realizing it, because it doesn't seem worth it to make posts anymore. Even this post doesn't seem worth the time it took on doing the captcha
>>
>>288428104
Well duh you fucking retard that's why I said to try it in incognito but having such an annoying captcha even temporarily will shoo away a lot of potential new users.
>>
>>288428081
I do love talking about anime, just don't like when board's obsessed with old content to the to point of becoming abhorrent generals.
>>288428140
What the hell are you talking about?
>>
>>288428171
I don't post very often so I think it's more based on how much time has passed since you last posted with clearing all your history. I only have to fill in three extremely easy capchas now.
>>
>>288428104
sucks for people trying to browse privately. i have to wait 60 seconds + cloudflare + 2-5 captchas every time i open 4chan. they really want to fingerprint the browser and attempt to ban any vpn range they find, soon it'll be residential proxies too.

and all of it for what? that one furry spammer and because feds want to unmask every user on request? hopefully they tone it down (they won't)
>>
>>288426279
Most just aren't into seasonals anymore, the time when anime fans went out of their way to like anime is no more so nowadays if something isn't an iconic masterpiece that everyone loves then its not worth watching for most people.
Wait another half decade for the shows airing now to stop being new=bad and people will start mentioning them without just saying they're shit.
>>
>>288428269
All your posts are already being collected by alphabet agencies and have been for years, might as well just stop being bothered about it. This new jewish organization they're using just makes the process easier.
>>
Problem is seasonals no longer try to push "boundaries" or be "revolutionary", it's like they adapted to their own niches.
They have their inspirations and stick by it, creating a very cyclical industry.
It's no wonder you can trace where certain things come from, because it's actually all recycled.
>>
>>288428249
Thanks although since this isn't something most people would know about, I bet this is contributing to killing 4chan. All it takes is making 2 posts to realize this website sucks and then they never come back.
>>
>>288428104
I delete my cookies every once in a while, and that resets the captcha progress.
>>
>>288428369
Most newfags shouldn't come here anyway and making them leave is good for their sake. If this actually stopped spammer it would be good but the main people it seems to be punishing is ordinary posters.

This is not normal. People have always talked about non-recent things, just look at books. People will talk about non-recent books. There are threads for airing anime, that means you get triggered by non-airing anime for some reason. I don't know what your problem is, seek help.

For stuff that isn't the most popular shit, posters know or at least some of them try to push for not making thread after thread with nothing to talk about. So you get maybe one or two threads weekly for an anime and monthly for a manga. Meanwhile for popular older series and the most obnoxious ongoing series they have their 24/7 generals.

Most old good new bad posters also seem to not actually watch or read newer stuff and so they cluster into their little circlejerk threads about 20 year old anime while the newer series may die before they hit bump limit.

No, this is just an old site used by old people. There is plenty of new anime and manga being created and there are plenty of places where people are discussing it, but 4chan isn't one of them. It's been well over a decade since the last time this place was culturally relevant.

/a/ just happens to be dead and its corpse crawling with bots and ritual posting moeshitters
also this season kind of sucks otherwise I might make a thread or two about what I'm watching

because they're bots
>>
>>288428948

I refuse to watch anime that will get another season. I'll just watch the whole show once its done. But thats exactly why I can barely watch any of the anime they released in the past decade
>>
>>288429265
I do go to a few discords and they're not that active either. And even when they are everyone is watching different stuff that it's difficult to get any kind of discussion going. I could just go to the ones flooded with normalfags but even if it was active I doubt it would be any better for discussion, especially about less popular stuff.

Twitter and Instagram aren't good for discussion. Their formats are not made for it.

If you continue talking about the same thing over and over for years on end, you eventually run out of fresh discussion.
I remember that back then, /a/ used to loathe Cowboy Bebop threads, because it's a series so popular that it had been discussed to death, anything that one could talk about had already been said.
Now we're seeing the opposite of this, these generals aren't discussing anything, they're just circlejerks akin to discord servers.
>>
>>288426279
Everything is woke and gay now. Especially western media but it's leaking into anime too recently. New anime don't even have the moe art style anymore, it's like they no longer have men as their target audience

>what series do you think is a good encapsulation of the "moe artstyle" for you?
OG Sailor Moon, Haruhi, Madoka
>>
>>288429618
yeah I don't like this, the resolution is high but it doesn't have enough detail, the lines are too clean and the color palette wasn't carefully chosen so it looks flat and dull
the moe artstyle worked better for SD content where the stylization allowed you to be more expressive with the limited real estate, but these days you have the bandwidth to faithfully recreate a pretty manga
>>
>>288428892
Eh, you'd be surprised at the amount of ""weebs"" who got into anime very recently, only watched old stuff, tried one new thing, hated it, never watched anything again, just bitch about how nothing new is good and how anime used to be super cool while posting aesthetic 80s animation they found on Pinterest and twitter.
>>
>>288429322
It’s been happening for longer than that
>>
>>288428892
this is not true. i refuse to create a discord account and talk to 5 normalniggers that started watching anime with jjk. new anime are simply not as good, still there are threads about frieren daily and some new stuff sometimes.
>>
>>288427201
Its a shame because either you get a minimal chance of a good discussion here, or you go somewhere else on the internet and there's many discussions but only about the same 5 things , if only there was a successor to 4chan
>>
>>288426279
They're simply not that good. And the ones that are good don't allow for much discussion, like Odd Taxi or Cyberpunk. Anyway, there are plenty of garbage threads of new shit like JJK.

You don't see to be the same person I initially replied to but one of his complaints was about too much detail.
>the moe artstyle worked better for SD content where the stylization allowed you to be more expressive with the limited real estate, but these days you have the bandwidth to faithfully recreate a pretty manga
I'm a manga reader and no, I almost never see manga styles faithfully recreated in anime. It's less about "bandwidth", whatever that means in this context, and more about having the time and manpower to draw to the same level of detail that a mangaka can do while also drawing the number of frames required for animation. Along with replacing shit with CGI and filtered photo backgrounds that destroy a manga's art style.

The resolution of modern anime is certainly higher than stuff in the early 00s but I do not believe anime has ever been quibbling over pixels here and there to the extent that your argument seems to imply. And that's not to mention that cel anime were made on cels, which weren't limited to pixels on a screen even if at the time their end presentation was on low resolution TVs (though you also had movies which didn't have those limitations).

Idk what retroshare is but, i haven't used discord in a year or two, yes its more active than here , but the people are insufferable , especially the mods
>>
>>288430354
Where did you get that I'm an old good new bad fag, anon? I believe I've been arguing from the opposite position. And maybe I'm just being retarded, but anime does not seem like it would be limited in the same way by things like scanlines like you're saying as video games that do rely more on pixel to pixel information. The home release versions of things in the past did suffer from that kind of thing, but the way anime is made doesn't really play into that kind of technological limitation in terms of how it's made (in the same way). The animators draw the images, often on paper, which is still done today, and then some work is done on a computer. Anime isn't being made like pixel art where the number of pixels in your sprite is going to affect how you're going to design it to look, or even modern video games where pixel information is important in how things are rendered. And that kind of thing makes even less sense when talking about cels that are a fully analog medium that's essentially smashed down to fit into whatever the current home media is. There are plenty of issues with modern bluray releases of things, but you can still often see the kinds of compromises made for VHS or laserdisc that aren't required for bluray releases. I'm sure there were concessions in the production process because of the limitations of home media at the time but it's still a different thing from what you're talking about.

The old net is completely dead and the new net is the future, whether you like it or not new culture is made on twitter/discord/tiktok and not decrepit forums like 4chan which haven't been culturally relevant in over a decade. Most anons don't post anymore because they either left for twitter/discord/tiktok, became normalfags, committed suicide or just lurk out of habit. 4chan is on its death bed and you all are being left behind. Not to mention most of the Internet is dead anyway as most discussion nowadays is ragebait or bots. Either conform to tiktok/discord/twitter or eventually you will have nowhere to go once 4chan shuts down for good. Being anonymous is a relic of the past and it's about time you all got with the times.
>>
>>288430686

It is, being anonymous is a relic of the past and namefags are the future. It must suck to be you where you need to hide behind anonymity otherwise you likely would get banned for being a sperg. On top of the activity declining more and more as people realize the same thing.
Also >>288431310
Anons like this are very scared that their favorite internet shithole likely won't exist by 2028 so all they can do is lash out, most anons like this either conform or commit suicide eventually when the dread hits them. A lot of posters here have no friend group and are neets, realizing that lifestyle isn't really sustainable in 2026. Look at /adv/, it's actually increasing in traffic with tons of anons trying to get off this boat and get there life together while other anons on /r9k/ are discussing the best way to kill themselves. This was also true 20 years ago anon.

I dunno. You say all that, but I've come across sites more niche and older than 4chan that are holding out well enough. This isn't a deal where it's 'one reply a month' either, the users engage with each other frequently.
Forums and I guess whatever remnants you might consider as the "old internet" will obviously lose out in popularity compared to its newer contemporaries, but I don't believe it'll truly die out.

/v/ doesn't gave those because they're all forced into /vg/, and frankly they would be preferable to the garbage that makes up most of /v/.

4chan is pretty much the perfect place for bot training. We have seen examples of anons who saw their own posts from years ago getting reposted to other boards.

The actual best threads are episode specific threads that follow currently airing anime originals. Unfortunately those are rare, and even among the few we get they tend to be niche and/or boring, so the threads tend to be inactive.

Does this mean studios will finally stop pandering to the west?

There are just no good anime anymore.
You either get shit for women, shounenslop (also for women), or isekai. Anime that cater to otaku is dead. Ninkoro for example was just an oddity that stood out for that.

Also, modern anime directors are crap. I'm watching Liar Game this season and despite it's low budget, the biggest issue is the incompetent direction.

>Anime that cater to otaku
Every single isekai.

Exactly, that anon is delusional. The fact of the matter is that the average Otaku has shit taste and nowadays just want shitty self-insert escapist fantasies with no depth or intrigue.
