I'm gonna say it.I do not care for Araki's artstyle during the later half of Part 4, Part 5 and beyond. It's not even a case of his constant barrage of skinny effete men in make-up are a problem, I just think he has gaudy taste in fashion, and it only becomes more extreme as time goes on. It's gotten to the point that Polnareff, arguably one of the most visually eccentric characters in Part 3, looks comically grounded by comparison to the average characters seen later on. Parts 1-early 4 were his peak.
>>288432496I do concur that modern JoJo artwork is quite shit, compared to the older parts.
>>288432496It's the faces. The faces devolve until by part 6 everyone looks like a goblin in every panel. Then in part 7 he goes back to tracing faces from fashion magazines.
>>288433542Proof that Jojolion was never good
>>288433574True lol
>>288433556I recently took a peek at the manga of Phantom Blood and was surprised to find that he could draw cute ladies. I thought his style was too macho for that.
>>288432496I think Late Part 2 is the peak
>>288433493This is proof to me that the line between cringe and based fashion truly is your physical attributes. It's not even really the clothes at that point.
Late part 3 to mid part 4 is where I enjoyed his art the most.
>>288433542>>288433787Man 1-4 really good done so fucking dirty. Also a shame how Araki's style seems to have regressed after finally hitting some stride with SBR. Maybe he's just past his prime. >>288434017Looking at the above image it's really sad how Josuke lost his image as an anachronistic pompadour delinquent by being smoothed down around the edges. Really lost the contrast with his personality.
>>288434587Yeah that's how I feel about this artistic change over the years. These characters who are meant to be defined as hard edge come across as baby soft boys in the newer redraws you see Araki put out.
>>288432496I agree with you but I go even further: I don't like his manga after part 4. SBR being the exception but only at the beginning, by the middle I didn't give a single fuck about it.
>>288433787nujosuke looks like a lesbian and would fit right in with Concord
>>288435259It's unironically the complete loss of the pureblooded Joestar bloodline. You can feel it like a dying animal. Part 4 was still soulful because Jonathan was there, you could sense him even before he turned up.
>>288435310Yeah, changing the family from Joestar to Kujo just immediately removed the conflict at the core. Pucci screaming about Joestars when Jolyne has probably never even met Joseph is nonsense.
>>288435310*JosephBleh, wrong part
I mentally tapped out not even halfway through Part 6.
>>288433787>Absolute gigachad to zesty rent boy in one style change
Part 1 is the best part
>>288433493Seriously look at the difference in creativity >The kaleidoscope of colors on the inside of the jacket>The intentional page smear that looks like Jotaro himself dragged his hand through the page when he shifted to point his arm>The more dynamic pose in general that flows from his upper body down to his armNu-Jo on the other hand is pointing like a Smiling Friends character.
>>288436037I guess bro
>>288432496Araki's post part 6 art style is great, it's only a problem when he tries to draw older characters in newer style.
>>288437847His SBR style was good, then it went to shit again in Jojolian.
>>288433542I love how he drew Jonathan as Joseph in the new style, realized his mistake and slapped a pilot cap on Joseph. Sure he does fly a plane in the final battle but the headband is more iconic for Joseph.
>>288439698Stone Ocean is the worst one
>>288440050Yeah lol. Even Araki realised how bad the sameface had gotten.I do agree, Caesar's headband would have been more distinct.
Steel Ball Run has Araki's highest peaks, but he was at his prime during Dio's World, if that makes sense.
Jojo was better when it was Europeans fighting monsters. It fell off when it became Jotaro and friends hang out in Japan
>>288440510In this orderpart 2Part 4Part 1Part 3Part 5
>>288440482Shit taste. The peak was part 4. Steel ball run was never good.
>>288437847>if you ignore it being shit it's great!>it's only a problem when you are confronted with how it looks like shit
>>288432496coldest take in jojo history
>>288435577Same, I dropped it halfway through until the anime came out and then finished it. I don't understand how there's people that pick this part as their favorite.
did you guys know hirohiko araki's real name is toshiyuki?
>>288439698I think his best style was late part 3, but mid part 7 was definitely his peak from a technical skill perspective
>>288441259You posted in a plebian thread, so of course not.
>>288440465The 3 Taylor Swifts.
>>288435577Yeah, me too. A third of the way I'd just skipped to the end and moved on to SBR.
>>288435577Stone Ocean felt like someone else writing and not getting Jojo beyond people said weird things happened. What I mean is in past parts, weird was often used intentionally to either be a bit of goofy humor, or it was an insane battle plan that you'd only ever nod and agree with in the context of Jojo. Part 6 just had weird shit going on for the sake of weird shit, like it was neither funny (Part 4 peak), or intelligent (Part 2 peak).
>>288432496I feel similar.People love to glaze Araki because he's openly inspired my old European art/statues but his art is still just weird looking a lot of time.Especially faces on close ups look really shitty. It's praisworthy how many unique poses he uses and drawing a humans in those poses is no easy feat. But with Araki they ultimately end up looking really stiff and unnatural a lot of time.Araki's greatest strength is that he keeps trying new things and is excellent at colouring.
>>288439698You can't tell from a comparison like this, but SBR art is too boring. There are very few interesting angles, poses, or lighting/shadows in the entire thing, just 2 panels in Catch the Rainbow and the dino jump. Aside from these 3 panels, all his best-looking art in part 7 is boring photorealism with 0 stylization and everyone looks like Britney Spears (which you can tell by this image, seriously how the fuck is that Gyro?) Parts 1-4 are much more visually striking. There's a reason they spawned all the Jojopose memes, their style is unmatched.
>>288439698I find it interesting how the gap in style between the end of one part and the beginning of a new one is smaller than the gap between the beginning and end of any given part. Although, given the timeframes, that makes perfect sense actually.
>>288439698Araki fell off by late part 4. Kinda sad but he had a good run.
I'll give Araki credit for just carrying on for decades. He barely has taken time off in all of that time.
Araki can’t draw kids and all his women have sameface post SO.
Something I really hate about his modern art is that everything looks like it's made of stone or something. Faces, fabrics, plants, hair...his style of drawing whether it's the linework, the hatching or whatever it just makes everything looks weird and stiff.
>>288444345Yeah I'd agree with that, his posing has become pretty rigid as the years have gone on.
Gib me jojo memes & pics, please.

>>288448305I wonder what they will show in the trailer
>>288432496not my problem
>>288448328I want to see my boy Pork Pie Hat Kid.
