I read ch2 and ch3, and I think its fine, first half of ch1 didn't hook me but I think it got better. The problem is the usual banter between characters (that used to be the best parts of Gintama) feels like it's getting in the way of the narrative.
During the downtime of the story it turns into a drab cliched high school comedy, and that part feels REALLY pointless to read because the wacky premise only uses the high school setting as just a stepping stone.
It's not terrible, but unless Sorachi find his footing, I'd never imagine this lasting more than 3 volumes. What worries me is that Sorachi isn't really the type to "grasp as he goes along" since Gintama had a strong footing from ch1.

My interpretation of this week's comment based on Sorachi's psychological profile:
1) He is giving an excuse/explanation in response to reader criticism, and it's a relief. By highlighting that he had quite a few chapters fully drawn out (And didn't fully redraw them or anything; is the implication), the fact that the first few chapters were slow and such complaints were voiced very early on, and the chapters didn't get faster immediately, is explained.
2) More importantly, he's doing his classic "play myself down" act. By drawing attention to the fact that "AAHHH HELP THE NEXT CHAPTERS AREN'T DONE!!!" he's diverting our attention away from the fact that he's probably done quite a lot of planning for the future plot events (my gut impression for this manga which seems to heavily lean towards being a plotmanga as opposed to a gag/SOL manga as well). The 7 heroes thing lends credence to this theory, as I had expected a 4 heavenly kings drop at most, 7 is a lot, and they have unique designs already which is awesome.

My question regarding the heroes is: How serious do you think their fights will be from the start? For example, I find it hard to imagine the Perona powers of the stuco president being actually useful in a serious context. Perhaps it'll be a mix of gag and serious like the Yagyuu arc in Gintama, that would be just right for this series right now imo.
