i guess the implication for the forest of death scene is possibly that gaara gets set off by the blood of the first guy he kills then wants to keep killing because of that.but it might seem weird from kankuro's perspective since he doesn't bring up gaara's excitement around blood until the fighting segment of the test later. probably because the blood aversion wasn't written into gaara's character yet but it's written in a way that overall fits gaara's actions at least.then later on gaara seems to keep trying to kill kimimaro by burying him but it's probably just due to kimimaro's abilities being too good. but i had a thought maybe it had to do with trying to avoid the sight of blood at that point because he didn't want to get set off and become bloodthirsty again.then by part 2 the blood aversion doesn't seem to come up at all.

This is the part where the manga really becomes bad. Having dead characters walk around like that was a bad idea. This chapter is a good example of why the war sucks : too many paper thin characters to make the ninja world look bigger, cheap member-berries moments to pad out the chapters, action is dry and devoid of choreography, and it just feels tacky. There's too much talking in a setting where it should be mostly fighting. >>288460002did Kishi change editors? These are the kind of mistakes a good editor should warn him against. None of those matter, the source of all suffering is the "Eye for an eye" mindset, and we solve it by having the last guy in the chain accept it with a smile. It doesn't even help that the bad guy's plan is just as goofy. Let's plug everybody in the Matrix and we'll be happy forever. People may shit of Gege for ending Modulo with such a cop-out, but the way he set up the conflict is light years ahead of Kishi in terms of writing. Naruto had the opportunity to grow up at the end of the Pain arc, but instead if slowly devolved into a Disney version of what it was at that peak.
