What is the future of manga sites?
>>
is this too difficult for tech illiterate zoomers? do kids need parental permission to make accounts now, is that why people are upset by this? they don't want their mommy to get mad because they pirate?
mangadex has always given shit compressed images to people without accounts by the way, I'm surprised you couldn't tell you were reading slop

>>

must admit I only use mangadex for uploading my releases now. with vpn of course
I mostly use mangafire and other aggregators to read on myself
not sure where to upload when mangadex finally croaks. I guess mangago, mangaball, or mangataro or something as a stopgap solution until a proper new scanlation hub comes along
although not going to hold my breath after what happened to comick and weebdex
>>
this seems to be the future of manga imageboards at least
>>
>>288462050
Where can I find early fan-translation chapters of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.
>>
>>288462668
Why do you read translations if you can read Japanese?
>>
>>288463059
because every translator that translates japanese for scanlations are doing it to learn japanese, and it's easier reading other scanlations than japanese
you don't really have experienced translators for scanlations, they quit when they can develop their skills anymore
>>

Doesn't matter, I already read all the good manga and watched all the good anime years ago because I'm almost 40. I just come here to make fun of zoomers and talk about the anime girls I want sitting on my face.

>>288463903
Why would anyone trust someone that mostly reads stuff in a language other than Japanese with translating a manga into Japanese. Jesus Christ, I still feel like I'm closer to being a beginner, but the more things I hear about what the larger scanlation community does the more I feel overqualified at doing it.
>>
>>288464316
Most "translators" first produce translations for themselves and then share them because of the effort they took and to give something back to a community they benefit from.
Meanwhile somebody that can fluently read Japanese has nothing to gain from translating or sharing.
>>
>>288464613
They could want other people to be able to read a series they like. But I do kind of understand. I was thinking I'd be translating a bunch of stuff but I'd rather just read manga instead of taking the time to translate.

Use Suwayomi and/or torrent to read and avoid shitty website bs, simple as
>>
>>288470472
Alright but there has to be a primary source, right?
>>
>>288462050
What's even the purpose of this? Preventing bots from scraping?
>>
>>288470372
You don't need to torrent to read raws, you don't need to pirate at all. The publishers have sites and apps that let you read for free and almost everything is available for digital purchases.
There's magnitudes more manga available in Japanese than in English.
>>
>>288470524

>>288470493
Yes? You don't have to suffer the shitty UI etc. to access the material, anon-kun. Most of the sites simply reupload each others material anyway and are not a "primary source".

You need an account and then you can read previous chapters without paying. They use a point or charge system to limit how many chapters you can read per day.
>>
>>288470558
Yeah but what I mean is that primary sources are still critical points of failure and the ones that matter rather than the reuploaders which are basically just "low friction solutions" for lazy people.

>>288470595
that can vary quite a bit as it depends on the scanlator individual/group and where people upload. As >>288470644
said people used to primarily upload to mangadex but that's not the case anymore. Mangago might be the most popular one now but I am not sure. Most manga torrents tend to be reuploads.
>primary sources are still critical points of failure
Legal action is almost always taken against websites, not scanlators themselves. there will always be a new website for people to upload to and I'm sure theres a lot of non-public distribution anyway

What even encourages scanlation groups to continue prioritizing mangadex? Not only do they do shit like this which gatekeeps people from seeing any kind of credit pages or donation links supporting your group, they'll even nuke all your shit from their site the moment they catch a whiff of any kind of licensing happening or when they receive a DMCA. Wouldn't the smarter move be just to just boycott this garbage site and let it die so the next biggest one can take over?
>>
>>288471942
A DMCA is going to be followed when they made themselves easy to find, but being licensed isn't an immediate deletion. The groups that upload there and tell people to go to their paywalled sites for more do need to be removed.

Read the github instructions. Then install extensions that you can find easily to download manga. You can use the webUI to read on your computer or connect from another device on the same network. I read manga on my tablet this way and it werks. You will have connection issues with some retard sites and will need flaresolverr as well (also in the github instructions).

I can't imagine being a manga fan and still being against piracy, so much of the good stuff isn't even legally available
The same is true for anime, movies and music
>>
>>288474332
>so much of the good stuff isn't even legally available
It should be in Japanese. The issue is how shitty the English translation scene is, either official or fan. I'm not against piracy, but being willing to pay does give you access to plenty of things that I at least was never able to find in pirated form. And especially if they're not translated, the quality of public raws is incredibly hit or miss. Though it's more hit than many people on /a/ would lead you to believe.

>The same is true for anime, movies and music
people not paying for shit is a big reason for the decline in quality of these things
also look at the french, they actually buy manga, so they get more translations than the english speaking world
>>
>>288478770
Anime has been booming thanks to Chinese and other overseas streaming providers.
The quality is declining because the Japanese production capacities are spread thin and they're getting replaced by foreign animators and artists. The current market cares more about quantity than quality and the streaming model provides less incentives for higher production standards.

The main appeal of Bookwalker is the subscription. Another nice feature is the option to subscribe to a series to automatically purchase new releases as they come out. Finally the shop interface is more practical with the ability to switch between single volumes and series, applying filters such as removing stuff you already own or the wishlist/sequels. Kobo is hard to navigate if you aren't looking for one specific title.
I mainly purchase on DMM these days. You need a Japanese IP for books but the combination of sales+coupon+point return is attractive and you can rip epubs with some effort.

It's been a few days now and I keep seeing this same thread seething about making an account to read more on Mangadex.
Just do it, do it with a burner email if you're that paranoid. How else are you supposed to track which which manga you're reading and whenever a new chapter gets uploaded? It's especially helpful if you're following a manga with an inconsistent scanlation release that are usually days, if not weeks behind the raw release.
>>
>>288486047
You shouldn't rely on a site to keep track of what's being read.
>>
>>288485616
That's partially the case with e-mail verification.
>>
>>288486047
>How else are you supposed to track which which manga you're reading
Using one of the sites for this that doesn't host content that risks it getting taken down. I've never found it necessary to need to be notified of a new chapter. I guess if you're one of those people that read 500 ongoing manga, but it's not something I've found I needed. Not to mention I don't read everything I'm reading on Mangadex and often download things so that's another reason not to care about MD's notifications.
>>
>>288486047
I simply read the magazines when they become available, no need to track the specific titles. Remembering the names of a few dozen magazines and when they come out isn't hard.

People refused to make email accounts for e-hentai in 2010. Why shouldn't they refuse to make email accounts for sites now?
There's no real argument for why you would need an account.

The difference being that Dex is a fucking corporate cesspool now. If you're still using it you have to be mindful that it's on borrowed time, basically. It's a deprecated solution.

There's so much manga it's impossible that it's all bad. There's many times more currently ongoing manga than anime in any given season. Ironically the people that say shit like this are the ones that rely on the front page of Mangadex to decide what to read.

>There's many times more currently ongoing manga than anime in any given season.
There's around 100 ongoing anime.
There's around 10,000 ongoing manga.
And the people calling everything shit haven't even seen those 100.

How do people struggle to understand that there’s more than one website you can use? There’s a whole index you can pick from if you don’t want to torrent…
