>>288464715Drawing anime/manga is a dream job for a lot of people. There are dudes willing to do it for free. You can't bitch and moan about how unfair the industry is when so many people want to do that work.Fuck those people to be honest. There are tons of dudes doing shit tier work to actually pay the bills while doing all they can to break into the industry during their spare time. Sick of these cunts getting dream jobs and then bitching that it's not also paying them well. Fuck you, you want good pay? Go slave away as a plumber or suck dicks on the side. Good work doesn't pay well and good paying work fucking sucks and nobody wants to do it.

I met Hiroshi Nagahama (DMC director) at a western convention and he was really happy so many people showed up to his panel and his autograph lines because he said it's rare for anyone in Japan to care about the actual production side of things and he really appreciates fans of his workHe also said he doesn't get to talk about that kind of stuff in Japan either, every Japanese guest said something to that effect, about how relaxing it is to be able to be so candid and loose compared to Japanese fan events which are very strict with topics and interactions (more relevant for the seiyuu, since they make a lot of public appearances)He spent over 3 hours drawing full illustrations for everyone who showed up and asked for one just because he was that grateful, even his old boss Maruyama who was also there and waited in line to surprise him and ask for a self portrait I have a lot of respect for animators, it's probably the most grueling type of creative work and they are sorely underappreciated
>>288466634That's pretty cool, he also nailed the direction for Mushishi.
>>288465807>this entire postAre you for real? People would work for free if it's their dream job? Are you baiting or are you really that naive?
>>288466780I gave him a full page and said I liked DMC and he went all out Watching him literally see the picture in his head and smoothly sketch the lines as he darted around the page was so cool
>>288464605AI is going to save Japan's anime industry, Sora was amazing and Gemini keeps getting better
>>288466634>it's probably the most grueling type of creative workIt's not grueling. It's insanely gratifying. I draw and make cool looking characters move wit my own bare hands and mind. The pay compared to the effort put in is grueling part.>Sorely underappreciatedIt's too complex for normies to understand what really happens. It's the collective effort of a lot of hard working people.
@288467026Do me a favor and kill yourself.
>>288466841Yes. To be clear, they don't "want" to work for free. They work for free because they hope to "make it" be able to do the thing they love as their one and only job.Tons of freelance creatives do this and have to have multiple jobs in order to make it work. They don't do it for the money, they do it for a love of the craft. If you want money, it's not the type of job you pursue.
>>288464605AI will fix this.
>>288466997That looks so damn cool.
>>288464715If an animator has a problem with his/her pay, he or she should do something about it, not some random fucker on the other side of the globe.
>>288466254The pyramids weren't built by well paid salarymen either.
>>288467157the self portrait he made of Maruyama was also greatI can't believe that 80+ year old nigga stood in line on a concrete floor for 3 hours just to troll his old coworker His translator was there and Nagahama said while he was drawing him that he had gotten so old he didn't have eyes anymore, just slitsI don't think I've ever heard something funnier in my life
>>288464482He decided to just quietly retire on his own and he's butthurt nobody tried to talk him out of it?>"I worked there for 35 years!"Obviously your work was adequate, but not hard to replace. There's a huge crop of talented young people desperate to become animators every single year, if you don't want to bust your ass to out-compete them, everybody's just as happy to see you go.Okay, you worked at a big name studio, but what did you do that was so indispensable? Did you decide what color to make Luffy's hatband or something? What the fuck makes you Jesus Christ just because you worked somewhere for 35 years, so what? "My severance/retirement was 0 yen!"Who the fuck signed that contract for you, dumb fuck? You didn't read your own employment contract or what? You knew better than to demand a better severance package because deep-down you know you're adequate but replaceable, but now that it actually bites you in the ass, you want to turn around now and cry like a baby?Every day of your life, hundreds of people are born into this world with more talent and greater potential than you could ever have, and all you're doing is taking up a slot that could go to one of them unless you want it bad enough to fight for it and you have the talent to make it yours. That's all you got in this world, and all you got is all you get. Nobody has time to fluff up the egos of sad, dejected old grandpas who never got their ticker-tape parade for going to work at a job plenty of people would give their left arm for. Fuck you, dude.

So he's just some dumb tsundere?>Stupid Madhouse, I didn't really want to quit, I just wanted you to show how much you cared about me. I HATE YOUAlso whoever hired him again is stupid as fuck, you don't want someone who quits his job and then immediately goes to the media to shit talk his former employer.
>>288468616Retard.
I saw this in a tv debate how young people don't want to work for a bowl of rice and a cardboard roof. Now im saying this because this boomer animator actually believed that his retirement looks like something different from him dumpster surfing and eating out of the garbage while the 5 types of cancer in his body metastasize. Thank you for your service, now lie down over there in the ditch and die.

>>288464482>>288464663I thought it was because the makers of Astro Boy set a precedent of an anime being successful while the animators got merch rights instead of wages Therefore all anime can be successful without giving animators wages

In the Japanese corporation, you usually work for 20 years, out of high school, until retirement. You're expected to have a family and all that jazz during this time. Pay is according to seniority, some discretion with regards to actual need, ability, retention, and so on. Then you get a small payout, and "retire". This ensures a steady flow of opportunity to the next generation. There are always going to be senior leadership and leadership material that are retained after the 20 year mark, up to life. If these are retired, they are usually pensioned for a tidy $ amount per month, because its far too late in life to go to work fulltime as a new employee at another company, and it is a minor conflict of interest. For them to retain him for 35 years shows that he was actually invaluable and highly skilled. But they viewed him as ultimately replaceable and disposable, refusing to even award a pension. What a disgraceful shame.I bet, they understand that anyone would and should fast-track him to senior leadership. Madhouse not putting him there, means they have no vacancy or are unwilling to change the current structure. A prisoner's dilemma of all the upper tier lifers. They employed him to keep him from rising to the top and displacing them, or rising and threatening them under someone elses flag.
