My ranking of female characters in the series>Tsunade, Karin, and Old Chiyo. Why Karin? She’s like Sakura, but she really went all out with her obsession, and Kishimoto uses her to convey strong symbolism. And I think the Sado thing is kind of kinky, and even kind of realistic. The kind of thing I like in my storytelling. Tsunade is a fully realized female character. Even though he downplayed her sexuality a bit, everything points to a woman with a complex history, and that explains her behavior. Chiyo is like Tsunade, only older, and she highlights these themes even more strongly. Strong characters don’t need to scream and learn kung fu to prove their worth. I’m talking about Hinata and Sakura, in case you didn’t get it.
