Before the anime came out, SAO was THE LN discussed on /a/, it was the holy grail of LNs. The day the anime started was when /a/ completely turned on it. But interestingly, the fandom eventually grew to hate SAO too. Because I think SAO was genuinely bad, and while Mirai Nikki has its faults, it's overall a fine manga and anime. I've never recommended it once after it became more than a year old, looking back.
