Why is there such a severe lack of platonic relationships in modern anime and manga? As in, friendships. Everything is either a romantic/sexual or familial relationship.Platonic relationships like friendship barely exist anymore, or at least, get minimal focus compared to romantic/sexual or familial ones.Pretty much the only genre that doesn't suffer from a lack of platonic relationships is battle shonen.
