Do you read /a/ related books?
>>288496242Yeah, I just wish they wouldn't bring up Baudrillard or Lacan in the middle of an explanation on why Rei is the best.
>>288496596worth reading?
>>288496627none of these otaku books are worth reading. You can understand the entire point by just reading the title and thinking about why it would be called that. Moe Manifesto. Otaku like cute girlsBeautiful Fighting Girl. Otaku like cute girls fightingJapan's Database Animals. Otaku like cataloging cute girlsThere you go, you just understood the entire book.it's braindead simple
>>288496242All the people I know that have mentioned reading books on animanga rarely ever interact with it, especially with the stuff that's coming out nowadays. Really makes you think
>>288496833fair
>>288496627Ignore the other fag, I'm the guy you replied to and yes, very interesting and even draws some parallels to the outsider artist Henry Darger as a sort of proto otaku>>288496833fag
>>288496242I watched this a while ago, in which he is heavily featured. A true connoisseur https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4y_j329Y_Y
>>288496924Is it sort of like an academic analysis of it? The way they talk about it in that documentary reminds me of art theory essays and books I read in school
>>288496242>moé
>>288496242I tried reading these things once in a while but when they bring stuff up like psychoanalysis or postmodernism I just don't get it and I also don't get why I should care about those things
>>288496242I did briefly read a philosophy book written about Serial experiements lain, Mushishi And houseki no kuni. It had other essays about more general subjects when it comes to anime and some other shows as well. Its called ''Anime, Philosophy and Religion''. If one anime deserved being in it, it would've been Kino no Tabi. Shame it wasn't included. I remember none of it but how it was well written.
>>288497041Just ignore the words you dont like and read the rest, you'll eventually find out why those words carry weight you'd better start carrying

>>288496924>Henry Dargeri guess i can kinda see it but it feels questionable, anyway ill check it out
>>288497063man even your comment feels like brain magic to try to voodooimply a conclusion that I'm not gonna get
>>288496242Speak of the Devil!I was just thinking of books about anime.
>>288497041there's no 'real' reason to care, its just for satisfying curiosity
>>288497041you best start caring about postmodernism because you're in one
>>288497092Lol you're not wrong, its all a confusing mess but you cannot know what you dont know, as in you cannot know why something is important to know until you know the damn thing.>>288497099Knowledge itself is based on an assumption just like ''truth'' and ''real'' lie in the relationships of things, not in the things themselves. Yet we walk trough life thinking things are real and there are reasons to care. I wouldn't trade an ontic view of the world to an ontological one, you become alien to yourself that way. To be human is to be curious, to fulfill that curiosity is the reason to care. Me like word me read word.
>>288497130LET ME OUT AAAAAIIIIIIEEEEE
>>288497099>>288497144know what, fairguess I'm not really in a position to give a proper take about this, sorry for bothering the thread>>288497130sounds bad when you put it that way lol
I'm getting into this kind of "otaku research" so I can surmise my own thoughts about why lolicon and shotacon and anything else seen as taboo in otaku culture is the CORE of it and is important to not attack or ban, I wanna try and mold it all into a story, because I think there's alot to work with here actually.
>>288497265Are you a lolicon/shotacon yourself
>>288497278Of course I am.
>>288497296Based!
>>288497278why else would we be here
>>288496242I (partially) read this one and it was pretty interesting.
>>288497278
>>288496596This is the only one worth reading. Moe Manifesto is basically Angloid leftist cope. Japan Database Animals is okay at best, there's only a couple paragraphs worth reading. Beautiful Fighting Girl is pretty legitimate
>>288496242Yeah
>>288497054Thanks for the recommendation, I can use that
>>288497532>Angloid leftistThey also watch Gundam?
>>288497034Despite looking weird, it's probably a better way to write the word, especially as it's written with a capital letter i nthe title. Without é (which indicates that o and e are to be read separatelty instead of oe diphtong, like in Pokémon) It would be about some Moe dude.
>>288497041You could start by, you know, looking up unfamiliar words on Wikipedia.
I tried to read one but it started talking about the plot of an anime I hadn't yet seen, si I'll leave it for when I have watched more anime.
>>288500876>which indicates that o and e are to be read separatelty instead of oe diphtongwouldn't that be the two dots? also the e in pokemon is inbetween two consonants so I don't see how it would ever be a diphtong
>>288497130I mean we're also in a physical world but nobody things we need to learn physics because of that.
>>288506339Your body learns physics, but it can't learn postmodernism on its own.
>>288506187>he needs a Loli Manifesto
>>288496833nigga moe manifesto is literally a bunch of interviews with people from anime industry on the fandom, you didn't even bother to read the synopsis
>>288508139He admitted as much. He literally said reading isn't worth it, which makes you wonder why an American was awake at 8 AM UTC.
