Both sides suck, but no one can agree on how the situation would actually be resolved between them because they are both reacting to a situation that is, at its core, unsolveably fucked. Coco herself is a great protagonist who only shows her true mettle when the situation is dire, but those rare events show that despite her age and inexperience with magic she's a force to be reckoned with. And not due to some innate gift or special status, but rather because she refuses to back down when people need help.
