Have you finished what you picked up?
>>
The last thread ended pretty quickly but i'm still working my way through some of the manga I bought. I ended up finishing hakugei in the meantime. I rather liked the last half of the series compared to the first.
I'm going through giant robo at the present and im loving the atmosphere so far. very intriguing start.
>>
The cinematography is honestly amazing in giant robo. I'm impressed with each new scene.

Okay, I finished Elicia, and it's really strange. The tone is too gritty for some adventure movie it tries to be. The pacing is weird too, the put so much effort into lore and this thing with 4 elements for the ship, and so briefly resolved it, so I suspect it was planned as a game. Like JRPG for turbograf16 or so. Also, Eira is a non-character; she literally didn't do anything
>>
So in terms of OVA by tomonori I think I prefer cool cool bye over greed. I never thought i would be buying old vhs to watch some things but it felt like a more more cohesive plot than greed with a halved runtime as well.

>>288536994
I never really thought about but it would make a lot of sense for some of the random ovas i've seen to be from jrpgs that never made it through the coding stage.

I consider watching the original TV show, don't have much hope in it, but judging by screenshots of the later one, it's about working in a pair with a female police officer, and that's not my cup of tea

Someone put together a workable, if imperfect, english patch for Super Robot Wars Z2 so I've been catching up on a few series that show up in that. Orguss getting the most focus. It's fun but these fucking space tentacle bitches can't shut up about making money and selling shit for five damn minutes even though they're apparently on a secret and, one assumes, URGENT mission.

It's really hard to say whether I prefer the 70's or 90's Cutey. The 90's animation is an objective upgrade in most cases, but it does almost completely drop Cutey's character. It's still great but I think I prefer the more melancholic and bored 70's Honey.

I just watched Puttsun Make Love since it got fansubs a few days ago.
Fun little 6 episode ecchi/comedy OVA from the 80s. The characters were really enjoyable and played on eachother really well.

7/10

I read through all of Eko Eko Azarak thats been translated so far and holy shit do I want more.

cute protag
neat occulty chapter art
hilarous crazy stories

The change from being a teenage witch bitch from the first volume to just being per chapter occult happenings is still good. Still makes me chuckle when I think how often she got punched in the face only for her to end up killing them somehow and then going "well guess I better goto a new school, eko eko azarak"
>>
>>288552055

>>That's on my list to watch as well. I've been debating between harlock and Yamato.
I absolutely love Captain Harlock but I really couldn't get into the original Space Battleship Yamato. I find the writing too dry and the characters aren't really interesting.

Harlock (the character) just radiates cool from beginning to end and I just generally find the writing and melancholic tone of the show far more interesting, and the tragedy of simultaneously giving up on humanity while fighting to protect it really cool.
>>
>>288552160
Meanwhile I fucking love the 2012 Yamato remake. They made it feel more like Macross than Yamato for whatever reason but it's better than any Macross I've watched.
>>
>>288552088
I don't know why but this is actually hilarious what is even the context?
>>
>>288552249
The start of every chapter has Misa in some occult art. Some of it looks really cool but it has nothing to do with the story.

The actual story is about some pathetic country bumpkin who goes to tokyo and ends up stealing some money only to find out that the person who he stole the money from was his...mom! and she's dead!

Its usually some twilight zone like twist if someone had to write a twilight zone story in 15 pages and wasn't very good at it.

I still enjoy the the comic greatly for how stupid it can get at times. And that the protag is cute.

As for that particular chapter art, the comic was written in the 70's so the author probably saw something about grand wizards, that they were dressed up in robes and assumed it was some occult group like golden dawn not realizing what they actually were
>>
>>288552347
By that actual story, I mean that specific chapter. There isn't any long running story arc so far, they are all self contained stories of Misa getting involved in something.

First volume she had much more of a wild eviler look about her until she became more tame like Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

I'll try to speg less about it unless someone else follows up on it. I just enjoy the comic to much.
>>
>>288552570
You can speech if you want anon. That's the whole point if the thread. It's better than just spamming or shit posting. I don't know why you would apologize. I am inclined to want to read it actually. Is it suppose to be a gag comic or did it just end up that way in the end? It seems really fun
>>
>>288552914
>dat flexibility, unf

Thanks anon.

Its my new obsession right now. She got 4 made for tv movies that I need to look up, I think they got english dubs, or at least the first one anyways.

It started off much more horror like where she would use black magic to get revenge on people (you could seriously make an entire collage on how often she gets punched in the face) while also dropping some tidbits of occult lore stuff.

In the first couple volumes it seemed like the artist put more effort into shading and giving her a wild look that looked pretty badass and didn't shy away from showing her doing rituals sacrificing animals and calling to satan for power.
>>
>>288553316

But then, I don't say a gag comic, but it definitely lean more into a bit more comedy stuff with some of the things that happen either directly or indirectly by her while still getting some tragic stories, and some lite horror stories.

I could fill up this thread of cool pictures, cute pictures and just some funny out of context pictures that I'm trying to hold back on.

They are both awesome and different enough. Watch both.
Yamato: first show (26 eps) + Saraba (1 film, sequel)
Harlock: first show (42 eps) + Arcadia of my Youth (1 film, different continuity)
Then if you're a fan you watch all the other sequels that milked Yamato. Harlock's aren't worth it.
>>
>>288543922
Never watched it but I was under the impression it’s a yuri anime. Is it a yuri that also makes fun of lesbians, or were people messing with me?
>>
>>288553797
From what it looks like so far, it's really maho-shojo, but for adults, so it's not like yuri, but freelove-pilled. Guess Honey was designed to be a role model for emancipated girls from that era
>>
>>288553612
Glad to hear it anon. I hope you enjoy it. I sort of wish it went back to the more horror based like the first couple volumes but its still fun and as I said the protag ridiculously cute.

Made a slight mistake, when I mentioned the movies. They are subbed, not dubbed and its live action. Which I like those low budget made for tv japanese movies but maybe others might not.

>>288553797
Not a yuri anime, unlike the definition of yuri is liking stacked chicks who go on adventures. I don't think its necessarily making fun of lesbians just that one teacher is just a perv and looks ugly sort of like in Shameless School. I think Go Nagai just really likes to poke fun at teaching authorities and school life so his readers can go "thats so relatable!"
>>
>>288553767
No I'm definitely going to watch both I typically don't let reviews or other people telling me about a series influence whether I start it or not. I always watch a series and then I see if I like it myself and drop it after a certain amount of episodes. So I will watch both but it's just a matter of which one to watch first. When I watch I generally try some of the sequels/prequels and if I don't end up liking it that's fine too. You don't have experience with anything Yamato but I at least know harlock will have the same vibe as Galaxy
>>
>>288554093
>live action
You have tell me if the live action does the comedy well. Sometimes having something in live action can tend to be better at delivering the comedy than just reading
>>
>>288554058
Alright, thank you. Makes sense why I’ve heard conflicting opinions on it then, iirc only one version has a gl tag which always confused me. It’s been on my list for a while, so I might as well start it now. Will be back later tonight or tomorrow to talk about it
