I do not consume garbage. But I have given a few minutes for most things people claim are "good dubs" to prove that they are worth anything and few have any merits whatsoever. Of the few that do they are then completely invalidated when I search for the script differences in the dub.

You are aware English dubs are not only translations, but also localizations. The choice of words is done to sound natural to an everday English speaker. I often hear sub elitists say that Japanese voice acting is objectively better because the bar is higher, but this rarely has observable merit. Furthermore, subs are hardly different from dubs. They are both translations of Japanese and will never be 100% accurate.

It's so obvious that it's a character being played with preprepared lines being read that it shatters any immersion. It's definitely not helped by the fact that I can roughly understand Japanese so I am getting a double serving with subs, but the subs are also usually a lot closer to the original script while also having the higher quality voice acting.
