Think it was a mistake to make Conan a public presence as the kaito kid catcher. In those cases he can flex his knowledge and no one bats an eye, but in every other case just saying anything semi intelligent will get people looking gobsmacked and he has to pretend to be stupid again. It’s jarring and a little infuriating. Even airheads like Ran shouldn’t be surprised at his intelligence given what she’s seen him do in the KK cases

I didn't realize it back when I first read it but this is another case that's a small scale metaphor for plot stuff. Remi and Yumi are standins for Mary and Elena, who their designs recall. Remi is basically an anagram of Mary, which the nips write as Meari. Tsuguo and Mitomu are standins for "Tsutomu" and have his name divided between them. The victim is a sexual harasser, and we saw Vermouth molest Mary. But also Remi has aspects of Vermouth due to being an actress, Hanasaki got poisoned like Mary, and it turns out Mitomu was also a harasser under his facade. The cake is white and red like an APTX pill, and the poisoner poisoned him/herself to poison the victim.We also have Yumi fearing Hanasaki as an allusion to Vermouth's hatred of Elena. There are probably even more references in the case but that's enough for now.
