I know this was 25 years ago, but I find it odd that there were people on Toonzone criticizing Yu Yu Hakusho for being on Adult Swim saying it's not adult enough, yet they had no issue with Inuyasha being on Adult Swim even though thats not an adult anime either. These people would get their wish when Yu Yu Hakusho was moved from Adult Swim to Cartoon Network's Toonami.
>>288643640I also find it odd that other anime not aimed at adults like Fullmetal Alchemist and Bleach didn't get criticized for being on Adult Swim. Don't believe me? Look at these threadshttps://animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/yu-yu-coming-to-toonami-good-or-bad.3257161/page-5#post-47756861https://animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/adult-swim-august-top-telecasts.3137941/#post-45951771https://animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/whats-gonna-happen-to-yu-yu.3159751/
>>288643640That anime is old, it's from about 15 years ago. It's obvious that back then, all anime was made for kids.

>>288644069Yu Yu Hakusho and Inuyasha were both on Adult Swim in 2002 together and yet, there were people who felt Inuyasha deserved to be on the lineup even though it wasn't an adult anime, yet felt like Yu Yu Hakusho, which also wasn't an adult anime, didn't fit on Adult Swim and should've been on Toonami.
>>288643640Moronic trannies and fanboyfucks existed even back then
>>288643640It was among their original anime line up. Shonen demographic is too old for toonami and too young for adult swim. Eventually YYH got thrown on Toonami and censored to hell so people probably saw the advantages of placing anime on adult swim even if the targeted demographic in Japan is for teenagers if it meant characters could still smoke and swear.
>>288644589You guys aren't even reading what the OP wrote. There is no way in hell Inuyasha is more adult than Yu-Yu Hakusho. It's the same level of maturity(and if we're comparing the manga, YYH has stuff like Yusuke's mother getting raped)
>>288644775That's exactly what confuses me about old Toonzone posts. They acted like Inuyasha was more adult than YYH, when they were basically on the same level.
>>288643640I am fairly certain Inuyasha had a lot more blood, gore and nudity than Yu Yu Hakusho, did you watch either show you're rage-baiting about?
>>288645270Yu Yu Hakusho did have quite a bit of blood too and it had more depth to it than Inuyasha didn't it? Admittedly, it kind of pisses me off that people felt like Yu Yu Hakusho was less adult than Inuyasha and Bleach. I'd say Yu Yu Hakusho had more depth than either of them.
>>288645270I'll give you that Inuyasha had more nudity than Yu Yu Hakusho since the latter had no nudity, but I do recall stuff like Yusuke coughing up blood in the Dark Tournament saga when training with Genkai and I recall when Toguro "killed" Kuwabara, blood came out, though Toguro made sure not to hit Kuwabaras vital organs.
>>288643640meanwhile in yuyu hakusho

>>288643640I can understand FMA, because FMA had more depth than YYH and it was darker with its horror imagery and such, especially the 2003 series. Plus, I wanna say FMA had more blood and gore, but I haven't seen FMA in a long time and my memory on it is a bit fuzzy. I do remember it having incredibly dark themes that go beyond even something like YYH to the point I want to say FMA 2003 was the darkest series not aimed at adults for a time. Bleach though always felt like it was on par with Naruto and One Piece in terms of how adult it was. I never got why people were fine with Bleach being on Adult Swim.
>>288643640YYH was gritty enough to be on Adult Swim, it fit the late night feel with all the other supernatural shows and even had some horror elements, I remember catching the episode where the insects turn people into zombies. That said, Inuyasha's sexual content warrants it being on an adult block, as other people mentioned, you may recall that Toonami had to censor Outlaw Star because of that. >>288643735At this point, people probably stopped caring since Toonami was in decline by the time FMA and Bleach got on, Adult Swim became the primary block for any edgy new anime.
>>288645517I'd say when FMA came on that was just a little after when Toonami had just moved to saturday nights and it seemed to be promising (though little did people know Toonami would be in decline around then), but by the time Bleach came to Adult Swim, Toonami was basically the Naruto block and had declined so much they were literally airing Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh GX, something weekday Toonami never once did.
>>288643640>for being on Adult Swim saying it's not adult enoughAnd he didn't even swim!
>>288643640Toonami is better than Adult Swim since I could watch it before my bedtime.
Dubs are shit.
>>288645608YuYu Hakusho has a fantastic dub. On the same level as DBZ
>>288643640>>288643735During localization, YYH, Inuyasha, FMA, and Bleach were all marketed toward teens. Though Inuyasha and FMA were marketed toward older teens. I guess it's because of the gory elements and dark storyline really gave them that impression. YYH is up there, too. But it's too action-fueled to earn a rating of that caliber. So overall from most to least mature:FMA>Inuyasha>YYH>Bleach
>>288643640Anime didn’t exist in the 2000s before Dragon Ball really took off so people back then thought all anime were kid’s show. And having a character who's form is a literal baby certainly didn’t help with impressions in an adult oriented block filled with whatever mature cartoon things williams street decided to put out at the time.
