What's the verdict on Kara no Kyoukai?

It ranks high in the Nasuverse and a very good anime film series by itself. Even its weakest films (6) has nice action and interesting shit going on. Blows most anime films released in the past five years out of the water
>>
It really is an anime
>>
>>288669284
This is the first time I've ever felt lust towards Shiki, good job.
>>
>>288669338
Shiki (Male) was cute
Shiki (Sans Male) was dull
Leo should've raped her
>>
Fine? Probably on the more subtle side of things from Nasu.
>>
>>288669284
Shiki is meant to be a flat tomboy. If you can only find her hot if artists give her a gigantic ass and balloon titties, you don't actually like her character.
>>
>>288669690
>flat
she's perfectly average, anon
>>
>>288669245
Everything written by Nasu is shit.
>>
>>288669690
I don't recall her being flat
At the very least she's shown to have very delicious looking thighs when weednigga is molesting her
>>
I watched the first two movies and really didn't like them. Call me a retard or whatever, but I've never been a fan of nonlinear narratives. None of the characters were memorable or likable, and once it was revealed that the main character had a split personality, I just completely lost interest and stopped watching.

Neither am I, but I watched the movies after reading the Wikipedia synopsis so understood what was going on and hung around for Kajiura's soundtrack and cool action sequences

>I leave Akitaka and head back to the building. Locking myself up in my room, I take off my gi. I stare at the mirror... A woman's body is reflected back at me. If I were to put on some make-up, and pull a scary face, I might be able to look like a guy; but there's nothing that can be done about the body. My body, that grows every day, that is sending SHIKI into despair.

FGO got Type-Moon a very beneficial contract with Sony where Nasu is still in 100% control. They don't permit any Fate project without their intimate involvement.

>Iwakami: It started off with Aniplex working with Type-Moon to bring Fate to anime form with Fate/Zero. And not just the Fate series. In 2007, we did The Garden of Sinners movies. After we were done with Fate/Zero, we were talking with Takeshi Takeuchi of Type-Moon about a new way to develop Fate, and a smartphone game was one of the ideas that we came up with. So Type-Moon started working on Fate/Grand Order as one of the official numbered titles in the Fate series.

>However there was a problem: FGO was meant to be developed for smartphones, this became a problem for Nasu - the difference of platforms, that and mainly, Nasu did not own smartphones prior to this project, so he had no experience in smartphone games. Nasu's reason behind this was because smartphones are so convenient, that if he started using it he will then "turn useless as a result". So to change his mindset, Takeuchi bought him a smartphone, and one day when Nasu goes to work as usual, he saw a smartphone being placed on his desk, with games installed for him. The games Nasu then used to refer for the project would be "Chain Chronicles" and "Brave Frontier". It was then Nasu discover the potential of smartphone games. This would then aligned with the vision Takeuchi wanted as well since Type-Moon wanted to catch up with the times, the times where a visual novel games for the niched would then shuffled and moved into current times - where people can access and game and anywhere, anytime.

There's a concrete reason why 5 is this big resolution point everything builds up to and then 6 is an incest plot and 7 is weirdly horny and it's that as far as the source material goes 1 through 5 were published on a website but 6 and 7 were written afterwards to be sold at Comiket.

>>
>>288677980
I can't really mentally picture Ryougi and Mikiya ever having sex as much as the existence of Mana proves that they did in fact have sex. Their relationship as you see in the movies is completely platonic, you never get the sense that they physically desire each other like men do women and women do men.
>>
I know Paradox Spiral is the "best" movie in a conventional sense, but Overlooking View is my personal favourite because of its aesthetics.
>>
>>288683414
>you never get the sense that they physically desire each other like men do women and women do men.
There's one scene where Shiki invites him to stay over, and they sleep in the same bed, and he just falls asleep and she lays there silently seething due to being blueballed.

Yeah, exactly lol.

I thought it was from Mirai Fukuin when bomber boy becomes an employee of Shiki, the matriarch of the Ryougi-gumi.
>>
>>288683496
5 is the "best" precisely in an unconventional sense, it's just the most parroted. In a conventional sense it would be 7 or Future Gospel.
>>

What a dogshit fucking translation. While it can be read both ways, it's blatanlty boundary OF emptiness, that's what it is fucking ABOUT, the personality as a hollow temple which encompasses [ ]. With that kind of error in the title, I strongly doubt they got any of the zen buddhist shit on point.
>>
Someone explain Yakuza Ryougi Shiki, as far as i understood the family is just an old group of demon hunters, which gives them money and status.like the family from Tsukihime.

>… It was exactly two years ago. My debts were piling up from this office’s rent and living
expenses, and at last the creditors had come calling.

>The problem was that the creditors’ boss was the area representative… of a mostly violent criminal syndicate. As the mere mention of their surname had me shuddering and contemplating life on a fishing boat or oil rig, I was filled with a desire to leave this town, and fast. The girl materialized out of that dilemma.

>With a “Mr. Kamekura, this is an honor,” and such, she forced her way in, book in hand, and the demonic black-suited young men made their exit.

>As soon as I had breathed a sigh of relief, their boss, the Devil itself, appeared, and while I looked on dumbfounded, pulled me from the jaws of death by making me a member of their group.

>“Perfect. I was just wanting an in-house detective agency. You, you’re in charge. You oughta be good at that. Huh, you do picture books? Sure, if that’s all it is. I’m not a demon. I’ll let you moonlight at least that much.”

>And thus, I found myself running a detective agency – or to put it novelistically, I was in the investigative industry – while working on picture books, and stripped of my constancy. The girl was my benefactor and the big boss’s only daughter.

KNK 1 was saved by the director and has much better pacing than the original novel.
KNK 2 is okay, but it leaves dialogue and lore unadapted, leaving the viewer without context for the characters' actions for no apparent reason.
KNK 3 has the same problems as 2, but the pacing is better since the story is different and doesn't suffer as much.
KNK 4 has the same problems as 2, but worse, since the story is completely different. A lot of world-building and explained concepts weren't adapted for any apparent reason.
KNK 5 KINO, despite leaving out a lot of lore, philosophical themes, and character development (specifically Araya), I recommend reading the novel to fully appreciate the film.
KNK 6 is a fanfiction tier. The novel and the film are two completely different things in every way.
KNK 7 is very good, with some pacing issues and the same problems as the previous films. However, a good ending from UFO.
Epilogue, Extra corus, and Mirai Fuyukin are good as bonus stories.

Deeply Buddhist in temperament yes I like nasu for this. I’m disillusioned with anime and feel pretty much all of the new shows since the 10s feel half hearted and LARP. This one of the few anime worth watching in itself, that it is wholly great. . Most anime even if you have discerning taste only occasionally good or worth watching for the texture and colors… of historical interest with something ocassionally good… but mostly you watch because you enjoy medium and the anticipation of something ideal even though it mostly disappoints. Knk definitely in my anime canon where it also has this beautiful image but also not imbecile in execution… it is executed beautifully.
