Generic story in what way? Luffy beats "bad guys" sure, but it's not out of heroism. The length of the story is also one of its good parts, eventhough for some it may drag. Stands just are a thing... just because? Araki couldn't even decide what he wanted his power system to be, so he switched from Hamon and Vampirism to Stands, and then has had like 3 different explanations for Stands since. In addition, some main characters are just born with stands just because, while others have to have been hit with Stand Arrows with an alien virus or be close to Jesus' grave or whatever. It's a fucking mess.

King Reuven is a blood descendent of one of the architects of the world, hence the raised flood-resistant cylinder of land the castle of Esperia rests on. His predisposition, such as a love for the low-born of the world, breeds his opposition to the World Government. This sets the government invasion of Esperia in motion long ago, and when he refuses to relent to their demands of offering slaves during the plague, Im sends Mars and some unknown Holy Knight (or affiliate) to "correct" the flaw in the World Government's plan that must carry on for dominion of the planet. My guess is both Reuven and Shuri were domi-reversied, since both of their blood is needed, however the "fittest" ends up being Shuri, and with her fully under control, the World Government is yet again able to keep this kingdom under their control. Just my two cents
