Don't underestimate just how deeply most mangaka are steered by government directive and social trends.

I think the only character hinted on main serie that appeared on year one was the archmage as the mage/teacher that taught GS basic alchemy and chemistry for his bombs and other unusual weapons, but the elf, the guild prospector or the minotaur and Necromancer have not been mentioned at all, no even in a "oh yeah I met someone like that before" the one other thing I can think that was mentioned on main serie before year one was made, was Not!Guts saying he was gonna help Goblin Slayer during the farm raid because Goblin Slayer saved his hometown once.
