I like how in the last episode we saw how highly Ferdinand actually thinks of Myne. We mostly see him frustrated with her shenanigans so its easy to see him as looking down on her, but when dealing with the dipshit prince and Myne not in the room he had basically nothing to say but praise for her. Granted, part of this was due to just HOW SHIT the prince is in comparison, but even so.

In a fantastical setting with roaming monsters, you can also justify adventurers are professional monster hunters, because monster hunting requires specialized knowledge with little overlap with conventional warfare so its genuinely more effective to send in a professional who knows how to do the job right than to throw common men at arms at the problem.Like, if you have a vampire problem you're much better off sending in one skilled vampire hunter than you would sending 50 pikemen who don't even know common vampire like like wooden stakes in the heart and being warded off by garlic because most of them can't read and even if they could Bram Stoker hasn't been born yet. Those 50 pikemen would get fucking slaughtered fighting a vampire, same way that vampire hunter would get slaughtered if he tried to fight an army. They serve different roles. And since vampires are (hopefully) rare, a vampire hunter isn't going to settle down in one town and live there forever. He'd have to travel to seek more vampires to hunt. A traveling monster killer who kills dangerous foes for coin that the solidiers are poorly equipped to fight is, by all meaningful metrics, an adventurer.

It's almost never brought up in the Anime for time but in the LN it's dozens of little instances each year that reinforce her frailty. This pays off in a few ways at major plot intersections and become major character development moments for Myne. Many of these are tied to her missing her family or being away from them. The dozens of little smaller incidents being "left on the cutting room floor" hollows out the impact when it all culminates in various scenes of despair or catharsis. It's impossible at this point for the Anime to convey such scenes because the framework that sets them up over the span of the story is not there.It all will just end up feeling hollow.

Most devouring commoners have so little mana that it isn't worth investing in them since they can never become nobles for reasons established later.
