Every time I think a character is going to withhold information from the other characters and that will lead to some kind of dramatic irony or scheming, they just talk and share everything with each other. Every time I think a character is about to be revealed to have ulterior motives, it turns out to be a bait and switch - except once, which was probably the best moment so far and hasn't happened yet in the anime.It's been very difficult for me to get a grasp on the series because every time I think I know "what this series is going to be about" it gets torpedoed. Even the conflict between Higashi Village and the Kagemoris ends up feeling just arbitrary eventually and I never feel like the casual homicide between them is justified. I don't feel like I'm qualified enough to say Arakawa forgot how to tell a story, but I'm now starting to look back at FMA and wondering if maybe it wasn't as good as I remember.I still like it, though, because it has a cool power system.

Bones just came out of dragging MHA for as many seasons as they could. They're in no rush to finish this new series they got their hands on, as well as things like Marriagetoxin and Gachiakuta. FMA Brotherhood would have had 65-80 episodes if it followed this pacing, and assuming this manga will also have 100-120 chapters, they can easily get 3 seasons of two cours 24 episodes out of it until 2030 or so.
