Great episode. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it was my favourite episode of the series so far, other than maybe episode 2. Good pacing, lots of nice cinematic shots, minimal corner-cutting and overall just a very smooth watch. Plus it's a very pivotal episode for the overall story.

I think the whole blood thing is actually a very clever and elegant bit of writing on Rumiko's part, since it takes the already-established fact that they share the same cursed blood and turns it into an even stronger bond with a lot of thematic weight, while also giving you a lot of hooks to develop the characters. It also ties nicely into some of Nanoka's later developments, though the first season probably won't make it that far.
The sunshine in this cut is such nice simple cinematography that even I managed to catch it.
