>MC was born in 97Sometimes I forget I'm not the target audience of some stories anymore.
And that's a wrap. Let's see how far this manga can go.
>>288716234>>288716251This reminds of GIMI going thru cloud of smoke during 2002 Spa race>>288716333Hopefully atleast 200 chapters
You can really feel the despair of Terasaka's previous axe permeating this chapter. I hope he makes it this time.
Didn't know what to expect out of this, but the first chapter was alright.
>>288716333What did everyone think of it?
>>288717183I can see it being one of my regular mangasKid is cute and brother has clear weakness and goalHe cannot go flat out without major push and he will have to balance his driving style of not caring about crashing with caring about his lil bro so he doesnt dissapoint himself and lil guy by fucking upJournalist girl is gonna fall in love with the guy and cars btw
>>288716302What? I really thought he would die this chapter and his brother(who looked like a girl in the beginning) would take the protagonist role. Also didn't like the morale in this chapter "Yeah, all you gotta do to win is be suicidal."fucking stupid.
>>288717183I still don't get how he could have landed the job without determining the local track's braking pointsalso where is the obligatory psychotic chief mechanic/ father figure?
>>288717661If people werent able to accept they might die while pursuing their goals we would never have powered flights and parachutesYou gotta look death in the eye and give it a headbutt
>>288717661this isn't Hero organization>Yeah, all you gotta do to win is be suicidalanother one for the psychiatric ward. put him next to the mmyy guy>>288717869>we would never have powered flights and parachutesdidn't the nazi use war criminals to test those? or maybe it was for the ejection seat I dunno
>>288717869Only idiots test out these dangerous things without doing safe test runs before, like with non-dangerous settings or using dummies.>You gotta look death in the eye and give it a headbuttsays the survivor, while his thousands dead fellow practitioners lie dead in the grave
>>288715523>I need to be in top 20 of the whole world to be happywhy do these guys always set such impossible goals for themselves?I imagine WF4 is already a great achievement in of itselfbut manga protags always make themselves so unsatisfied because it's #1 or despairit ain't healthy
>>288716333Thanks OP.My guess is that the former F1 driver will have the older brother join his company or vouch for him to get the brother to join where he used to race for.
>>288716234>>288716251LET'S FUCKING GOhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RThqKnFvyfE
>>288716275>courting death
>>288716251
Alien Headbutt died for this.
>>288718633good.
what happened to the guys who crashed?
>>288716688Yeah, all the notes on the margins of the panels with extremely basic info feel really desperate (assuming they're not shitty TL notes). It's like he knows readers are not gonna be interested in the sport, just like how they weren't interested in golf. I don't understand why he didn't just pick a less niche sport in that case, but at the same time I respect that he's sticking to his guns.
>>288718715this isn't about him
>>288716275tragedy flags popping up
>>288718733in which world is formula racing more of a niche than golf?>>288718633no, alien headbutt died because Saito is a bitch ass motherfucker.>>288718715anon I...
>>288715343Setting it in 2017 made me think the brother was going to die and it would be about the younger brother. I wonder if there’s any reason for it being 2017.
>>288719105this will still probably happen, just for the sake of drama. if big bro won't outright die, then he will severely injure himselfend of volume 1 cliffhanger -> timeskip into vol 2?
>>288719050>in which world is formula racing more of a niche than golf?First of all, I didn't say that. Second of all, racing is absolutely a niche sport for WSJ's target audience. It's not niche for a general audience, but personally I don't know a single person under 25 that gives a shit about racing.
Someone said nip twitter is praising the shit out of it, personally I'm in and I'm hoping for a good run.
>>288715497>What are we, some kind of Haru Formula?KINO
>>288718015You don't go into a competitive sport aiming to be average. If they weren't shooting for the moon they never would have made it professionally at all.
>>288719311no I get thatby all means, go above and beyondit's just that the MCs are always overdoing it, making themselves believe that #2 place is worthlessI wish they remembered to sometimes put things into perspective and remind themselves that all things considered, they still rock
>>288719500stfu hugo
>>288719206but kids love cars! they are loud and colorful and go fast and... please tell me kids still love cars and Hotwheels isnt going under
>>288719554ride a dick
If I was following my dream and realized I sucked so much at it I would kill myself out of shame. Glad to see this isn’t that kind of story.
>>288719105It will be about the photographer being traumatized by the 2011 earthquake.
>>288719593personally, I would get time travel powers and cheat my way to victory
>>288717183I liked it. The little brother is so cute, and I can relate to the older brother's fear of dying and leaving his lil bro alone. I hope the old ladies that make up 40% of Jump's readers liked the brothers too.
U19 material
>>288719657>I hope the old ladies that make up 40% of Jump's readers liked the brothers tooI do but I hope it will introduce some ikemen rival soon to increase its survival chances.
>>288719555Hot Wheels is in good enough place to have world tours where they judge custom cars and turn the winners into new toys with thousands of custom cars being enteredPicrel is the Winner of 2025 edition hot wheels legends tour from polandThey started it in 2018,and since at least mid 2010s theyve been expanding with more premium and adult oriented castings with more paint and details and rubber tiresThey aint going out of buisness anytime soon
>>288719206>I don't know a single person under 25 that gives a shit about racingIn my case about half the men I know are suddenly into racing.
>>288720002Race, not racing.
>>288716177>>288716205This sequence is cool but it'd been cooler if he emphasised more the crack on the visor.
>>288716275>courting death>he's gonna doom 10 generations of his clan driving like that
>>288719933still, if kids start thinking that those ugly 3 ton electric SUVs are "cars" then the hobby is done for
>>288717661It's like you didn't even read this page:>>288716275>but suzukaze... too much, man>you can't call it great driving>... when he was obviously courting deathIt's a pretty clear message that he is driving recklessly to make up for his lack of skill and it's going to eventually cause his death. In racing you gotta take risks but he is going too far, that's the whole fucking point. He's got death flags and when he does die his little brother is going to have to learn the middle path of taking risks but not too many risks in order not to end up a road smear like his big brother.Learn to fucking read.
>>288717661F1 and racing sports are all filled with adrenaline junkies who don't fear death. Racing alone at those speed is already dangerous, doing it with others means risking life and limb every time you race.
>>288720227>He's got death flags and when he does die his little brother is going to have to learn the middle path of taking risks but not too many risks in order not to end up a road smear like his big brotheryay, Hero org just got weekly!>>288720266when was the last time a F1 driver lost a limb anon? if one of those snobs died every other GP things would be way more interesting
>>288715523>Fol-lowing>>288715561>Amaz-ingJesus fucking christ. Lettering can't possibly be this hard.
>>288716333it's not bad but it kinda seems more like a oneshot.
>sports series with Haru in the title reflecting the MC’s nameRisky move, Terasaka
>>288720872>tela-saca
>>288715428Man what the fuck is this page. He crashes and loses the race but it's tucked away in tiny the lower right panel where you can barely make out what's happening.
>>288716333I riked it. No idea how a story like this is going to survive without turning into another Robot x Laserbeam, but it’s a good first chapter if I cared about the MC
>>288716333I'm gonna be honest anons. I don't feel it. I didn't feel hyped when the race happened and just felt bad for the guy who crashed. Plus the whole vibe of the chapter is reeking with despair. Atleast the artstyle is great.
>>288719555The only toy car I wanted as a kid was a car that transforms into a cool robot.
>>288721953>the whole vibe of the chapter is reeking with despairI'm sure that was the intention. Big Haru keeps losing races because he's driving "too safe" and is on the verge of being fired (which not only would disappoint himself and his little brother, but it would suppose the loss of his sole source of income), but he's afraid to drive faster/more recklessly because if he crashes and dies little Haru will be left completely alone alone. If you replaced F4 races with a less fantastical job, this manga's premise would fit in a seinen magazine.
i was gonna ask why he didn't make the brother into a loli, but then i remember that fujo exist. Okay.
>>288718715You see the scar on the retired racer? Probably something like that. Or death.
>>288719206I don't give a shit about racing, but I'll read a manga about it. Can't say the same about golf.
>>288718715Sometimes they're just fine, sometimes they die. Anything in between can happen, they got shit ton of security measures but if one fails you get hurt.
>>288715466>>288715483>It's okay! Don't worry about it! Also you're a pathetic failure and we're considering firing your ass.nice consolation bitch
>Footnote: A "car" is a type of vehicle that goes really fast.
Didn’t really feel this. Felt like a one shot and not the first chapter of a series. Plus, the message is weirdly, “You should just risk your life,” which I feel is pretty tone deaf.I recommend people check out Overtake, it does a much better job explaining what makes F4 racing different and interesting, plus the characters are actually fun.
>>288723020He apologises for not making the top ten and also for crashing and she explains they don't care about those things, since he is an investment for the future. What they care about is him not showing guts making them want to reevaluate his potential. In other words, crashing is ok just don't be a pussy and brake early all the time.
>>288720227>learn the middle path of taking risks but not too many risksMiharu himself could do that. He already has a built in motivation to reign in his recklessness in his brother. That's probably the entire reason he was driving so cautiously to begin with; fear of leaving his brother alone. He went full suicidal in this race because it was his last chance. And even then it's not like he was planning on driving through a crash. I think it's more likely that he gets seriously injured later on rather than killed. If he dies, his brother wouldn't have the same dynamic of needing to balance the risk inherent to a career in racing with being the sole caregiver to a very young child.
>capeta but with no pacing or depth to the racesBut why
>>288723196He's shown he is capable of two extremes, that does not mean he is actually going to find a happy middle ground. It's just as likely he gets lost in the "I must win, fuck caution" sauce.>>288720487How often do crashes happen? Just because the cars are designed safer doesn't mean it isn't an inherently dangerous sport. Also it's a manga, whatever danger there is will be magnified.
The chapter needed a hot race queen
>>288716333this is too gay, it's gonna be axed for sure. racing manga is cool rivals and sexy chicks, that's how you do it.
Racing is boring as fuck, this shit gona get U18 for sure.
>>288723262capeta is a masterpiece, if it was half as good it would be already a success.
I've never been into motorsports, but F1 has always seemed like the most sterile uninteresting form of it. The quality of the car and boring shit like when they are doing tyre swaps matters too much. The vehicles arr rook the same too. Only redeeming quality was Kimi having an actual personality.Frankly a racing series should be about kids driving old shitboxes because you get way more variety of vehicles and a good excuse to have all around young cast and female drivers in the same races. And it gives a lot of opportunities for off-race chapters about scrounging money for repairs and organizing (probably illegal) races. There is a reason why people like Initial D.
>>288725157it was cooler when there was no electronics and the f1 cars where rockets on wheels. now it wont be cool again until we reach f-zero\wipeout mode.
>>288716112Grand Jump is for you, grandpa.
>>288718015i stopped at>orphans>in a capital-intensive sport
>>288725157You should read Overrev or GT-giRl if you haven't already
>>288725747Well he's clearly got sponsors who almost definitely own the car, or he had sponsors, good luck with no car if they still drop him lol.Anyway I liked this, solid first chapter, still pretty sure the older brother is gonna die though if the series lives long enough. Their bond seems believable enough, younger brother is very cute, and the drama is simple but compelling. I feel like even if it wont be a huge hit it has enough cushions to survive a while. But I like it so it'll get axed next batch somehow.
>>288715523The author's self insert
>>288715581gimi
>>288719105The first thing that comes to mind is a timeskip.
>>288716177Like I said earlier >>288663567
>>288725157Call me crazy but I actually think it should of started with go-kartsYeah its a massive downgrade from f1 butEasier to believe an orphaned highschooler has enough cash/connections to get into it over f1Easier to understand the skill needed to win since although your standard rental karts pale in comparison to the pro karts, those little fuckers can still be tricky to handle especially if your used to modern convenances like powered steering, suspension, and ABS Can slowly work to f1, might be axed so might be a moot point but from reading the chapter, I think the brother is supposed to be good at racing but once he started f4 he started choking because of a fear of crashing. I personally don't really like that when stories do that, show that he's good for a few chapters then whack him with a wall stunting his growth/development to overcome

>>288716112I was born in late '96
>>288724083I assume there would be rivals eventually. Could even be the guy that crashed in this race. And there's the reporter women for that part.
>>288718015It's a Japanese thing, I forget the actual saying but they do that all the time
>>288729508this was a good one.
I enjoyed it. Definitely feels like a oneshot but we'll see how it goes.
Dun dun dun dun
>>288732352i knew
>>288732352like I said, end of vol 1 he will either die or get injured, timeskip into true MC
i miss yaesaki
>>288732352>>288732376or maybe it's just because this chapter wouldn't have worked with the shield in placeso it has already served its narrative purposealso it's amazing that they somehow managed to make F1 even more sterileso the drivers now have a permanent column of metal right in the middle of their field of vision?>it spoils the machine's appearanceI agree
>>288715466>breakingI mean he broke the car, but before that he braked. Homophone errors are some low budget tier shit.
>>288732918I understood that as "breaking mentally" and braking too early
>>288717183I liked it, but I hope it continues to be a "racing against myself" sort of story. I find that to be far more interesting than any "I must beat my rival this race" storyline could ever be
I've thought this since Beast Children, but his style is better suited for another magazine. Good luck but my expectations aren't high.
>>288733223>I hope it continues to be a "racing against myself" sort of storyI agree, but that sort of story does still need rivals. In fact, they're sort of more important. Instead of just being a guy to beat, they need to represent a different way of thinking that challenges the way the MC thinks.
>>288721581yup I was like WHAT THE FUCK where's the crash? not this beyblade spinning crap lmao, I would've done a double page
>>288716275>courting deathlmao'd, what stage of car-jutsu cultivation is he on?

>>288737503one, way to miss the pointtwo, even your pedantry is subpar, as the image clearly says carbon fiber and titatium
>>288726007And I thought I was the only one who cared for GT-giRl. The artist still wishes to continue the series.
>>288716333I like it so far, plus I'm a fan of anything racing related this was cool. The art is beautiful too like this page here>>288716251
>>288734351Oh wow, that's ambitious.
>>288719105The thing is, 2017 is still too recent for the kid brother to be a stealth protagonist, because 14 is still too young to drive cars.
>>288741934the timeskip will reveal that it's a Highspeed Etoile prequel
