In order to return to Yhwach you need to have a piece of his soul inside, most notably a Schrift. If you never contacted with Yhwach he can't eat you. He can drain your Quincy powers through Auswählen, but that's the extent. So pretty much all Quincy who were born before Yhwach went to QUincy afterlife. And many quincy who were born after did too, because not everyone recieved a piece of Yhwach's soul.

Yhwach and Haschwalth are essentially one being (they even look alike), but Yhwach is stronger and he gets the upper hand.
