But it is stand out for being a second near-peak. Everything else about the manga peaked early and the rest of it is just underbaked by two people with mediocre imaginations. I read every new chapter, but it has been a long time since I really was excited for what comes next. Witch Hat Atelier's start is quite generic. Its basically Harry Potter for Japanese girls, complete with a hot older male mentor for little girls to draw hearts around in their notebooks. The main characters are all unsexualized girly girls, and the conflicts are not handled as much through violence as through problem solving, which is less hype. The reason I stuck with it, is that it comes off as a series where the writer has a real plan for things and who is pretty smart otherwise. It only gets more interesting as it goes on and the writer starts twisting things. Frankly it did not seem like a series that would appeal to me when I picked it up, but I liked it the more I read.

Its basically impossible to be immune to their magic system, they're going to do something annoying like turning your power armor to sand or rewinding you in time or drop a city's worth of water on you and then freeze it. Freiren I feel would fuck off rather than fight them much faster than Rudy would, which could be crucial here.
