Why Millennials and early Zoomers soiface every time this retro anime is mentioned here?I watched it, and while It was indeed very solid (better than modern nu-shounen slop) it seemed to me also very formulaic. Litterally nothing original compared to the average shounen tropes(The chinese prince was my favorite character BTW)

>>288754591It’s short enough to never feel “fillerish” to your average retard, has enough of a unique setting, doesn’t get too “Japan” and has two good adaptations (I personally prefer 03) I think the biggest thing is it’s not as popular as other major shonen, so people can feel “cool” for liking something “not mainstream/generic” The big three are all better but FMA is still great and the protagonist is the best part.

Just because something is unique doesn´t mean it´s great. Be it either following structures and formulas or pushing a style, both can succeed and fail; in the end it always comes down to the specifics.
