This is just Gnosticism basically
>>288763387It ain't that deep
>>288763387Its inverted, in Gnosticism a flawed god created a flawed universeIn Berserk a flawed universe created a flawed god
>>288763387Ah yes, Gnos
>>288763387I wish I had Schierke to explain Platonic and Gnostic philosophy to me
>>288763387He was raped,demiurge ?
>>288763387had reptilians too
Why japs seem to be OBSSESSED with gnosticism?
>>288768943Probably because it best explains Christianity to them. Considering the permanent centrality Shinto has in Japan and the fact that forces the Japanese to inherently respect the notion of Animism (multiple gods attributable to innumerable objects) the adoption of Buddhism then created the new paradigm of a singular source of creation that can be returned to with awareness and meditation and existential investigation. When the Japanese look at Christianity to try to understand what it is and why so much of the rest of the world believes in it, they probably are more attracted to its more obscure roots from Judaism and the splintered occult sects like Gnosticism which account for multiple god like entities and a source wellspring for all of existence. As opposed to Catholicism which centralizes all of the Christian doctrine as one long run up to the creation of a single messiah, Gnosticism is more individualized and places the responsibility on the acolyte to find ways to look beyond the illusion and discover the real world that can lead to salvation/eternal life.
>>288769386That doesn't really matter in this case. Japanese grow up around temples and symbols of Shintoism that are now inextricable from Japanese culture as well as Buddhist temples and symbols inextricable from Japanese culture. All of this is pervasive in games and anime and media. They are taught to respect and empathize with elders who still cling to religion. Regardless of the neoliberal capitalist siege on the spiritual in Japan, there is still an ambient emphasis on religion in Japan- consider the fact that Abe's assassination was literally a product of his assassin's anger at Abe's continued support of a cult that exploited his mother and other like her. Japanese atheism is not the Western radicalized atheism, it is more a product of seeing religion as inconvenient to a productive society but there will always be a place for spirituality, even if only in the dozens of folk parades and ceremonies that take place throughout the year
>>288769386Imagine believing this lmao
>>288768943It's simply a cool concept for a religion.
