In a bit less than a month, on July 9, 2026, will be the 20th anniversary of the anime adaptation of Welcome to the N.H.K.
As a way to celebrate it, I wanted to host another /a/ sings for it.

The OP and ED were already covered 13 years ago. (I'm not the anon who mixed them.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXNeWCQ_45s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_jUR7eZF_k

This time, let's sing THE one and only most depressing /a/nison, "Youkoso! Hitori bocchi" by Pearl Kyoudai.

>Deadline?
Soft deadline is set to July 9, 2026
I'm a bit late in organizing this so I might give more time
>>
Holy fuck I will definitely be participating
>>
>>288774642
What happened to the Yurikima Arashi /a/ sings?
Anyway Hitori Bocchi is one of my favorite anime songs ever, pretty insane an /a/ sings hasn't been done by the 20yh anniversary is a perfect opportunity
>>
>>288774802
>What happened to the Yurikima Arashi /a/ sings?
Not really sure. I'm not in contact with any of the previous /a/ sings mixers so you might want to mail that anon for more info.
I suppose /a/ sings aren't really popular enough anymore. The last project that actually got finished was more than a year ago. A bunch died without any words from their organizer.
>>
>>288774993
What were the other ones that died? The Yurikima Arashi one was the last I saw in a while? I don't think anyone has organized many in the last year (from what I saw)
I hope this is successful cause Hitori Bocchi is such an iconic song. A bad part of /a/ being less active is an increased difficulty in getting these projects off the ground I guess
>>
Never wanted more to sing in one of these
>>
>>288774642
Nice, I'll give it a goand hope that my sobbing doesn't ruin the song
>>
>>288775209
The one before Yurikuma OP was Brave Shine from Fate UBW. I'm not sure if that lead to anything in the end.

I wish I could host more /a/ sings of seasonal anime overall, but it's always difficult to determine if one really "deserves" an /a/ sings before it's already forgotten. And it's not like I'm always watching the most popular shows on /a/ every season.
>>
>>288776138
There's a lot of iconic, beloved anime on /a/ with OPs that should have /a/ sings for them desu
>>
>>288776028
It could add to the flavor
>>
>>288776138
Seasonals are pretty difficult unless it's like Bocchi or I remember Spy x Family getting one

Don't /a/ sing openings? However I hate NHK, It would have been better to choose something more universally popular and loved

/a/ sings anything iconic, like Libera me from Hell from TTGL

>>
>>288790061
Feel free to suggest anything. Maybe this will motivate some anon to organize something if they see there is demand.
There are a lot of songs that would totally deserve an /a/ sings, but the real issue is that they have to be somehow relevant for anons to care enough. I wanted to do Youkoso Hitoribocchi for years, and I thought the 20th anniversary would be a good timing.

But I don't really like celebrating something just because it's popular, mainstream or iconic personally. I'd rather make OC for anime more niche but that left an impression on me to be honest, but it's not easy for cooperative projects.
>>
>>288790483
>But I don't really like celebrating something just because it's popular, mainstream or iconic personally. I'd rather make OC for anime more niche
With that kind of logic, no one will contribute, I also don't think it's right to create for the sake of “celebration” rather than for the process itself

Welcome to the NHK isn't niche, it's one of the most culturally relevant anime to /a/ ever. Certainly more universally popular and beloved on /a/ than Bleach of all things...

Just to be clear, "/a/ sings" isn't the initiative of any sort of established group or off-site community. It's most often one anon saying "I can mix. Let's do this". There is no selection committee, vote, poll or anything.
The only reason this project is a thing is because I liked Welcome to the NHK and that song in particular. That's it. Not because it would be popular on /a/ or on Youtube. It's completely selfish.
If you want a project organized, you should find somebody that is motivated or do it yourself. If you can start something in Bleach threads, good for you. I will always be happy to see more cooperative OCs emerge.

I understand that no one is being organized or warned, but do you expect the project to be completed? I suppose you know better.
Also, I've never been in the bleach threads, this is just the first big thing I saw in the catalog
>>
>>288791197
>That's why anons had to necrobump this thread?
not him but necrobumping is pretty normal for these sort of projects and pretty common for non-WSJ manga threads on /a/
>>
>>288791151
Not OP, but I feel like Hitori Bocchi is the shows most iconic song.

If you think you won't have the time or you can't really sing where you are, you can simply record the "knock knock knock" or "hitori bocchi" part and still send it to me. I'll include it in the mix.
The song is fairly easy though so give it a try if you can.
>>
>>288796055
No need cause you're getting the entire song

The fuck's an .opus file?
>>
>>288796556
It's an audio format, like .mp3. I actually ripped the audio from Youtube videos for that starter pack, which are encoded in opus. It was less of a pain at the time. You can find a lossless audio on nyaa if you really need it.
I didn't think of it but maybe not all media player can read them. Tell me if you can't, I'll try to reencode the files.
>>
>>288774642
I'm terrible at full lines, but I'll at least submit for the chorus and such. NHK was an early watch of mine, and watching it again in 2024 was a fantastic experience, so I know I gotta send SOMETHING in

They, just like any other anons with the tiniest smidge of talent for creating OC, fled to Twitter or akin sites. There's just no incentive to contribute on here anymore, knowing that you'll get triple the attention under a social media handle; likes are the currency of today. It sucks, but that's exactly why it's awesome and motivating to find anons just doing shit for the love of the game.

Anons here aren't particularly good at sound-mixing (except you, drumfag, you're the greatest). They're not pros after all and it's fine. I don't think they would expect any fame from it.
It's more that organizing collaborative projects can feel exhausting when they flop, I think. Especially when it's for stuff you love. So you feel even more reticent to organize the next thing.

I've been hoping an /a/ sings for Hitori Bocchi would somehow happen and my prayers were answered. Thank you so much for doing this OP.
By the way everyone, there was an /a/ sings archive made a couple years ago that went dead. Thought it would be lost to time before I remembered I had saved all the songs on another hard drive. Uploaded them all to a new mega folder
https://mega.nz/folder/X1ZSUTZQ#PNy39YUVgJNeTynlRx2VaA
I know there's some missing, so if you know the ones that are please link them! Need to add them for a full archive
