Yeah I mean I get what you're saying but I grew up religious and only had other religious friends growing up and I have had really bad social anxiety in college so if I were in a situation like that I'd basically just freeze up. 3 years ago when I was in grad school I talked to a female classmate and she actually showed interest in talking to me, my legs were shaking when I was done talking to her and it was just a normal conversation not about class shit. It doesn't help that my parents beat me with belts sticks and shit when I was growing up. So, not saying you're wrong OP, but I can see why the MC woiuldn't make a move.
