I just realized the other day that as overwhelmingly popular as it is to drop long vowels or use overbars, I've never once seen ni-san or ne-san. There is zero overlap between those translators and the ones that preserve honorifics.

It sounds SO unnatural when it's translated, because people just do not use the word "senior" in the same way when speaking English. Imagine if Nagatoro-san had translated it and had Hayase running around referring to Naoto as just "senior" for the entire manga. It would have sounded belligerently fucking stupid.
