The lynchpin of true battle shounen is a structured power system so you can see how characters solve problems with their specific abilities and you can fantasize about having powers of your own. If your powers can just be anything and everything, that's boring. It's just boring. Part of the reason Togashi ended YYH and started HxH is because he realized this. The Big 3 and HxH were a realization for what battle shounen should be. YYH is just a more psychological Dragon Ball. And I think Dragon Ball blows.The arc I really liked is Chapter Black. But you know what I'm going to say next, right? Chapter Black is just proto-Hunter x Hunter. But then the ending is hilariously stupid.

Illumi's inclusion in the Troupe was so fucking random, and worst of all, not a single Troupe member reacted to it.
