Symphogear knew it was stupid show but it's was cool with it and fun and I enjoyed it much through every season.This one is basically something which wants to be treated seriously with it's deep plot and remerks about humanity and historic ghosts but in return turns out to be a complete unfunny empty show with many ideas thrown in the mix but never creating a coherent story behind it.I blame the writer and director the most here seeing how many semi-important things happened off-screen every episode.It's like the script was prepared for 24 cour show and in last moment they were limited to 12 episodes and it's showing.One of weakest shows I ever watched.
That was... a good episode? What the FUCK? It gets retarded whenever it's connecting to the existing story (music is illegal is still a way silly premise) and the ending is very stupid but everything else holds up on its own and even as a capstone to the series. The first half is legitimately just a good self-contained story about a child growing up with ghost powers and her parents dealing with it.What the hell, man. Now I can't even laugh at it, I'm just pissed.

This final episode is almost the perfect encapsulation of Ghost Concert. Isolated, there's some great ideas there. The whole part where Seria's parents aren't sure what the fuck the matter is with their daughter reminds me of The Exorcist. There's something legitimately creepy to it. It's a good idea in theory. But having this be the final episode makes no goddamn sense.

It has an entire episode and surrounding arc that's a big metaphor for losing a pet and for grief in general that's entirely framed in a kid-friendly way and clearly meant to teach kids how to cope with loss. It has an ending where no one is actually evil and where the world is saved when people stop working against each other and start working together and by everyone following their hearts and doing what they most want to do and what makes them most happy, which is as beautifully idealistic and child-targetted a message as you can get. Alright, I just caught up and finished it. I genuinely don't know what to think. I know it was trash, but I'm struggling to decide whether it was irredeemable trash, or if it had some good things going for it. I think the core problem is that the premise itself is awful. Music being outlawed in the future because a rogue AI swindled everyone with an app update with terms and conditions that nobody bothered to read properly - that's the catalyst for everything that happens in the story and it's fucking stupid. Like this last episode started out great, until it stopped being about a young hopeful couple struggling to cope with raising a child with potentially serious psychological problems and went back to being about a fucking music app that sets off a tornado alarm whenever a toddler hums twinkle twinkle little star. After a few episodes I gave up taking this even remotely seriously and just enjoyed it as a comedy. There was always something in nearly every episode that just left me dumbfounded by what was happening.The duet with Tesla, the shit cgi in the Nero fight scene, the witches that worshiped satan and fucked animals, Kaede's dad launching her across the room and screaming in her face to exorcise a ghost (and it working), Kaede being a hopeless yaya and losing to their sensei out of nowhere, sensei beating the shit out of that woman (I forgot who the fuck she was but then she turned out to be the main antagonist lmao), the bitch with the detachable ponytail getting tragically killed (wtf even was that laser gun that disintegrates people?), and then being forgotten about in the next scene when everyone starts joking around. I'm forgetting a lot more I'm sure. I laughed more at this show than any comedy this year.
