As someone who mostly leans towards the non main girls in these type of stories because of the rarity of the FMC actually being the best girl. Admittedly, I think the wrong person won here. It would have landed better if the author actually put in more effort into Honoka. Usually authors do a better job with the side girls because they pretty much have free reign to do whatever they want with them without disturbing the pace of the main story. That's why you always get the "best" girl being not the main girl, because the main girl has to remain stagnant until they reach certain checkpoints in the manga. That didn't happen here, feels like Honoka played the FMC while being the side character. Himari played the side while being the FMC. I think even Kanna would have made better choice than Honoka here imo

Himaten has never received obi recommendations from other big mangaka, despite the author has worked as an assistant of Blue Box's author and Akane Banashi's artist. Meanwhile Kiyoshi that was doing poorly for its first 19 chapters, suddenly got higher ToC placements after the author switched from comedy to One Piece-style battle shonen. https://www.jajanken.net/sakuhins/GJnOxdP84LKiyoshi also got Oda's obi recommendation for its first volume, and another obi recommendation from some comedian for its third volume, but the sales have never improved significantly and constantly below Himaten, Kill Blue, and even Roboco. Kiyoshi will get a 2nd year anniversary cover in next issue, while Himaten only got a color page for its final chapter. With the arrival of Someone Hertz, Saito even punished Himaten more aggressively, constantly putting it at the back of the magazine, although it never ended up dead last in ToC. It's clear that Himaten just never gets his approval (it was launched under the previous Editor in Chief's authority). Anyway, I'm just glad it doesn't get brutally axed like Chojo. And despite Saito's constant rigging, Himaten's sales never falls below 14-15k. It's also doing better digitally. Maybe the author can do better if he got more supports. I'm looking forward to his next work.
