I remember getting this feeling from watching the school scenes in "From Up On Poppy Hill."

It was a normal school full of normal kids, lots of the kids were smart and cool, everybody knew each other and were all on good terms, none of the kids were aggressive, retarded, belligerent niggers trying to instigate fights everyday or be disruptive and chaotic for fun . . .

I felt so sad for myself because all the schools I went to were fucking gladiator schools full of howling savages and teachers were all a bunch of burnouts who didn't even care anymore.

But I never felt how much I had lost out on until I saw what a normal school full of normal kids who were all smart and good-natured was like.

That happens with good shows.

>>288889668
The younger gens are romanticizing the entirety of the 00's currently. Also, Azumanga had a lot of memes, which has a way of persisting.
>>
Funny to see a "born in le wrong generation" post about fucking 1990, but I guess that's just a human constant.

This time they're right. The 90s were when humanity peaked. We may get there again but it won't be soon.
>>
>>288889329
Wishing you were born in tje 90s is like wishing for a gf that will leave you in the end. It's better to have not experienced the bliss just to have it taken from you in some years.

I had this Snoopy plushie and watched Azumanga Daioh back in 2003 or something

You're about a year and a half behind, gramps. Early 2010s nostalgia is already here. 2000s has like 2 more years of relevance at most.

>The 90s were when humanity peaked. We may get there again but it won't be soon.

try never anon, are you serious, look at the landscape nowadays and think about it.
If we're talking just cyberspace and interwebz, we will genuinely never get anything like the 2000s-early 2010s ever again, its not a question of how to return, we cant ever because shit is too far gone, too many things are fundamentally different and objectively lesser than before.
Everything is 2 or 3 big hubs, everything is regulated more and more, everything is corporate and fake, theres 10s of millions more people polluting the waters, its like seeing a bunch of interconnected suburb filled with countless mom and pop stores gradually replaced with 1 giant walmart and a few tall apartment complexes, and just thinking one day it will all simply break down into the mom and pops again, not happening.
Its all downhill, the only solace is finding corners untouched and waiting until the enshittification of the net reaches singularity, and even then you arent safe.

I went to school in the 90s and it sucked. It was more like GTO but without a cool teacher who knows stuff. Very few kids were interested in learning, and the teachers weren't interested in teaching, so most of each "lesson" was the teacher telling us to shut up for an hour and putting the entire class in detention if it was adjacent to lunch/recess. 99% of what I actually ended up learning was from reading encyclopedias and textbooks - the internet was barely accessible until I was in mid highschool.
This was in a big city in a majority white suburb.

Every doomsayer so far has been wrong. It would be hubris for me to say "this time is different!" because that's what they all said too. But at the same time, you are completely correct.

You're crying because you're depressed and externalizing that fact, latching onto passing content in an attempt to vicariously live through someone else's feelings in order to substitute your own(and in search of catharsis).

just cry faggit it's good for you
but stop pretending to be nostalgic
for an era you didn't live through

I'm 19 episodes into it and quite frankly it kind of sucks. Better than Lucky Star, but I never find most of it funny, it's like art style and production values carry most of it.

Japanese people always claim Showa was better than Heisei era, though

Showa era: Dec 25, 1926 – Jan 7, 1989

Heisei era: Jan 8, 1989 – Apr 30, 2019

The Heisei era gets brought down by the Lost Decade. The first half of it was great.

Showa excess for animation budgets and Heisei's Lost Decade vibe shift produced the peak of anime (and cheap moe garbage)
