But even just for Mai herself, the chibi style makes her way too adorable and huggable. How her eyes and face are drawn really pronounces her hyper-cutsey apperance how mature she normally looks. How she's holding her bag straps plus her kind surprised expression when looking at the viewer is a really cute display of her shy personality, since she probably does feel a little vulnerable dressed like that (which I don't mean in a perverted way though she wouldn't be entirely wrong to feel that way with me in that case either). The colors are great too, so bright and shiny, makes her hair feel very soft and like the sun's beaming right off her on a nice summer day. Now onto the CLAMP stuff, Chii's ears really tie together the kinda puzzled-moe look and again make it feel nice and summery because of my association with the series (which is also very dear to my heart so seeing Mai finally drawn associated with it makes me really happy.) That alone would make my heart skip a beat but she looks so fucking adorable in the Tomoeda uniform, too! Another big thing that's etched into my heart as a symbol of being bright, happy, and magical that I'm overjoyed to see Mai in union with. CCS's colors are of course a big part of the show's whimsical feeling so how soft and warm your colors are too makes the translation to Mai very close. On a minor note, the show and manga were ongoing during (and the Chobits manga was cocurrent with AIR and Mai's post-Kanon life) so tying them in with Mai is very appropriate and makes the connection stronger.
